No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

If you're in hobby photography (or even in pro biz) as well, please share some of your nice shots in here (at least in 1024*786), or share some of your valuable experience to the community :)

Great idea for a thread!

Here are a few of my favorites.  They are 1024 wide but my camera's sensor is not 4:3 and sometimes I crop them a bit more so the height will vary.

Nice pics Joe, especially this one:

As for the format, exact 1024x768 is not a must. It should be just an indicator for the min. quality in this thread, because below of that makes almost no sense anymore.

I got yelled at by a mall security guard for that picture.  I had to drive to the top of a parking garage to get that shot and the mall guy saw me on the cameras, drove up to the top and insisted I take no pictures because it is private property.  Granted, the signs that say this are inside of the mall and I never went in.  So I drove down the parking garage really fast and he chased me.  Knowing that he was not a member of the police, I drove even faster, just for fun.  He tried his best to keep up.

Tatsujin

LOL, that is just hilarious. A great story behind, makes it even more interesting :)

btw. what is your secret for such nice model-like photos? I know that the Japanese are also very good in faking models with real environment. Sure it should be kinda the other way round, but this is also very interesting.

Btw, what kind of equipment (body, lens..) do you use?

Most of those pictures were taken with the Canon T1i (500D outside the US) with the included lens which is an entry-level DSLR.  A couple of shots were taken with that same camera but with a 75-300mm lens attached.  Now I have a Canon 7D and I absolutely love it.  I bought it body only.  I still have the 75-300mm telephoto lens.  I also have a really nice 15-85mm ultrasonic lens and a 50mm ƒ1.8 Nikon lens which I can attach with a simple adapter.  Unfortunately I have been taking mostly HD video with the new camera and not enough still photos!  The picture of Jen and everything below it was taken with the 7D, however.

The photos that look like models are real.  They are called Tilt Shift.  The lenses for this are very expensive, but you can get away with faking it in Photoshop just as long as your picture doesn't have much vertical tall things. Basically you add a very narrow depth of field and over-saturate it to give it the toy/model look.  I have several more pictures in this style.

Is that SVC Chaos: SNK Vs. Capcom I spot in the Neo Geo! Awesome :D

Joe Redifer

Yes it is and it is popping out of the screen waiting for you to grab it (for free).

I'm still a real amateur when it comes to photography, but I love dabbling in 3-D stuff too:

Good to see another fan of 3D photography.  That means that my pics posted above were seen in 3D by at least one other person besides myself!  :)

Covell, are you doing handheld 3D shots?  I ask because there seems to be some vertical discrepancies in a couple of pictures, especially the first one.

ccovell

Yes, the Neo-Geo shot was one of my first 3-D pics, so the alignment was kind of bad.  For the most part, however, I try to align the shots as much as possible, if not in reality, then in photo-editing software.

Actually, I did make 3-D pictures about four years ago, but I set them up as a cross-eyed pair: https://chrismcovell.com/walkabout/walk3D.html

I see that someone found the "long exposure" button.

Tatsujin

Sure Joe, long exposure (5~10sec) is the A&O for nice firework shots :)

Sure a tripod is essenitial as well. Then the Focus on infinity and some smart ISO and Aperture settings. The rest is just a good timming of pushing the shutter.

here some higher res pics of my little bit more "lucky shots"

Those are some great shots!

I don't have much to add... still working with 3-D but some don't come out as well as they should.  Panoramas are easy but close-up 3-D is really hard due to stronger horizontal and vertical parallax.

Covell, that pic of the Casio watch is really good.  To avoid vertical parallax, use either a tripod of set the camera somewhere where it can slide back and forth.  The problem with a tripod is moving it perfectly lateral.  What I also usually do is take the left eye first and then move the camera and then slightly turn the right eye to point inward (but only slightly), almost like cross-eyed, but not that extreme, of course.  What I wish for is a ghost image on display in my camera that superimposes over the live view so I can choose a point of convergence rather than re-aligning and cropping in Photoshop.

Sun Steam, what lens/settings did you use for the shots with the sun in them?  Did you use an ND filter?

All I used was my bog standard Sony A200 DSLR with whatever lens it came with and no filter or special settings really. I'm quite a novice and don't know how to use 80% of the features on my camera properly. The only thing I did was add a bit of a gradient to the sky in the last pic via Photoshop, to make it look a bit different.

This isn't a photograph, but I thought I'd post it here since we are posting anaglyph 3D pictures.  It is a video we shot a long time ago, but the lenses were too far apart to make any good 3D effects since most shots came too close to something.  I salvaged a few shots that look decent and put them in a Youtube 3D video.  Use the bottom righ corner to enable your favorite 3D viewing method.
I'm going to try 3D video again, but with bigger cameras that are more unwieldy.

Tatsujin

some Japanese Cicada (Semi) etc. shots :)
