Saver or spender?

I'd say I definitely fall into the category of saver.
I fund my 401k at work, I invest in my IRA, and I dabble in various investments on the side.  That said, I do love the occasional treat or toy, but I think I would freak out if I ever lived paycheck-to-paycheck.

Just curious how the majority of the site classifies?

I was absolutely retarded with retirement accounts for the first 9 years I had them available. The only money that went in there was a couple years of profit sharing before my company switched to a match policy. Now I put 12% in a 401K plus a 3% (:|) match. I hope to start contributing to a Roth IRA soon.

Not much of a saver, I need to work on it. But my total debt is a measly $170 for my car's final payment this month.  I've avoided credit card as it'd be too easy to overspend.  :?

For the poll, I am spender but without relying on loan or credit.

SuperDeadite

Saver.  Though I have no problem spending a good chunk of cash when the timing is right.

I'm basically living paycheck-to-paycheck because I am socking as much money as I can possibly afford away in my 401k.  Figure I'd rather be poor now then poor when I'm retired, and have nothing but free time on my hands to enjoy life.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy life just fine now.  Just don't have extra coin to throw around on stupid shit.

I'm mostly a saver, I guess.  I blow money on games/books/food/movies/etc., but I manage to sock away a fair amount every year.

more like both....but everything spiced up lately :(
my wife and i both had great job with decent salary.
this made us move forward for improoving lifestyle and having kids

sadly last year she lost her job and was forced to take jobs out of her
current field of works.. with a shitty salary but still better then 0$

since then we went a bit more into debts.. so im alway ending up with more or less50-100$
and with no more savings since i put everything on the house 2 years ago  #-o

but we'll find a way out of this :P
don't worry i'm not about to rush to ebay to sell all my games

Kind of a saver, but like many others having a kid changes your spending priorities.

Childcare especially can be painful to adjust to.  This thread reminds me of an old 401K I have sitting with a company back in IL I should probably locate though.

Both.
But less of a spender than I used to be . Been putting away between 11%-15% of my income since I was 19 though. 32 now and I'm up to a £10k  ($15600) income for retirement. By the time I finish should be about £30k ($47k)  pa pension. I bought a house I couldn't afford but I'm ok now things are under control and debt is being paid down. Which I think is an achievement as we went from 2 incomes to one last year wife got laid off. She hasn't had to go back to work yet but hopefully will be soon so can pay stuff down quicker.
I'm worth more dead than alive tho if I croak it wife and kids get about half a million.
