I linked these in case anybody's interested in picking up some Duo-RX style controllers.  They're much too pricey for me at the moment, but I'd like to get one someday and see if it fits my hands any better.  Does anybody have one and prefer it over the Avenue Pad 6 or the Hori one?

I don't have one of these, but I have PC-FX pads which are the same thing.

I prefer the Ave 6 myself.

PCEngineHell

My friend Eric got one with his Duo RX,and it totally sucked to me compared to the original Ave 6 Pad.

Yeah, I noticed those controllers on eBay last night. Too pricey for me as well. I'd sooner put the money towards some mods for my Duo and the avenue pad 6.

From what I've heard they aren't as good as an Avenue 6...which is pretty pathetic...

Sooo, I'm not sure. Are you saying you don't like the Avenue Pad 6?  :-k

Why would I? I mean, I've certainly used worse, but its not a very good pad. If these things are not as nice as an A6, then they really aren't worth $50 each.

They look like they could be comfortable. I like the larger d-pad compared to the Avenue 6. I wouldn't pay that price unless they were new though.

You guys are bumming me out a bit, telling me that the RX pads suck.  I'm with SignOfZeta - the Avenue Pad 6 is mediocre at best, and a little uncomfortable in long marathons.  I'm not too worried about it though, as I don't often play 6-button games anyway.

I've never seen a grey d-pad on an RX controller. I wouldn't be surprised if its using parts harvested from a PC-FX pad.

Your right BT. I think it may even be one. It seems a lot bigger than the other one and I don't think that its the camera angle

hehe. Yeah, sorry I was just being facetious.  :)  I haven't heard a great many things about the Avenue Pad 6. Though I have heard praise for it.

Personally, I really like the Avenue 6. It's my personal favorite Turbo pad, though I haven't used every pad ever made.

The minimalist in me likes the original Turbo/PCE pads, but two buttons just isn't enough for many games. I like the D-Pad on the Ave 6 better, too.

It's not. PC-FX pads don't have turbo buttons for buttons I-VI. They probably just used a D-Pad from an FX controller.

Thats what I figured, which makes it less valuable. I don't know what those pads usually go for on their own now days, but I'm pretty sure that they were sold seperately in their own box at one point.

As I've stated several times before, I prefer the grey 6-button / RX pad over the Avenue 6 a lot more. Looks wise, Avenue 6 smokes it, but the grey pad is more comfortable and plays better for me, not to mention it has a sturdy end connector unlike my Avenue 6 which I have to plug in a special way. I just wish the grey pad had concave buttons like the Avenue 6.

I own both a Hori Fighting Commander and a Duo-RX pad. I will say that the d-pad on the Hori pad is better, but I prefer the overall feel of the RX pad. Its super comfortable in your hands. I would go so far as to say its one of the most comfortable controller ever (for my hands at least), even comparing new gen stuff.

I generally either use the RX pad, or the avenue 3 (if i need easy access to run/select and turbo switches).

nat

I'll concede the RX/PC-FX pad is [extremely] comfortable to hold, but the D-Pad is a mess.

Keranu

The d-pad looks like a mess, but it works better for me. Personally I prefer a good old NGPC click stick over them all!

It's not that I think it looks like ass, it controls like ass because it's too fucking stiff.

Keranu

It's not stiff at all for me, maybe you just need to use yours more (just like how I need to use my Turbo Express' d-pad more!).

Somethings get stiff when you use them more

Like you said Keranu, Its partially due to use. My one Express/GT had a stiff dpad, but the other one has a super soft pad. Also, I have one or two REALLY fresh coregrafx pads that are still super stiff. My avenue 3 pad is very soft.  Ive taken a lot of these apart, and they all have pretty much the same rubber contact pads (dont know about the RX). I think a lot just comes down to "breaking in" the controller. My RX pad (which i bough from another member here) is not really stiff at all. Its softer than my coregrafx pads.

nat

Keranu, do the D-Pads on your PC-FX controllers feel the same as the RX D-Pads? Because I have two FX pads and both have super-duper stiff D-Pads which is where I'm drawing the conclusion from.

They are by far the stiffest D-Pads out of the 30+ controllers I own for all my game systems. You could be right about needing to "break them in" but they just don't seem like they'll really loosen up all that much.
