It's not just that (former) member. We've been getting a SHIT TON of spam posts from a bunch of different members with weird usernames in the last two days... more than I've seen on any other video game forum. I posted in the Admin forum asking about it, but being the only person who has any mod powers that even bothers to visit the website, I get no answer and I must delete them all myself. It will suck come Thursday when I return to work and do not have the ability to delete them.

No, it's there. As far as I know all registrants must be approved by Aaron himself which usually takes 6-8 months.

The way I do it at Sega-16 is to require an answer to a specific question, like "What is two times three minus five?" or "What color is Sonic?". Incorrect answer, no go. It really has cut down on spam and that way I don't have to approve each and every new member (which was REALLY annoying).

I just handled a bunch myself. I didn't answer your question in the Admin area because, frankly, I don't have an answer. Aaron must have turned off admin approval on accounts for some reason. I haven't talked to him in a while so I don't know why he might have done this.

It's fixed now. There still may be some spam accounts lurking but any future registrations should not be from bots.

Oh, and admin approval will only take 5 months from now on
