Shame on us! Not one proper thread (the one about the birthday bash in Europe doesn't count  :P )to wish our little white powerhouse a happy 25th. So, in celebration let's post our earliest memories of either hearing about the PC Engine, or from those lucky enough to get one on Halloween Day 1987 (or there abouts).

My memories are probably common among many of us. EGM introduced me and I was immediately mesmerized. The graphics were not only more colorful, but they had a charm to them that even EGM's blurry photos couldn't mask. Back then when I thought of the word "PC Engine" I thought things that were exotic, powerful, and wholly Japanese. Of course, there was no way I was ever getting one back then so the good 'ol PC Engine remained a mystery to me until I picked up a Turbografx CD plus converter. I officially joined the PCE ranks with a Duo-R a year or so back.

Edit: Oops...Sunteam's thread counts. Oh well. Double the fun!

I was mentally looking for key words like "Happy" and "Birthday" and "25th!" ....OBEY DAY completely slipped through my brain's filter hee hee 8-[

Also, in celebration of the PCE's 25th the website Nintendo Life just published an interview with Ken Wirt who was Vice President and General Manager at NEC Home Electronics from '89-'91

FINALLY: we learn for sure why the TG-16 is so god damned huge and ugly; market research proved that's what stupid people like, and stupid people were the target audience. I wonder how much they spent on that, considering they were dying to write a $25k to a tennis guy to endorse a mediocre pre-existing tennis game.

Joe Montana and John Madden did wonders for their respective games.  Obviously tennis is not as big of a deal in the U.S. as football and Sampras is no Montana, but I think the relatively peanuts $25k to market a "rising star" for the game would've actually been a good move.

On the other hand, the system redesign is still idiotic, regardless of what market research was done.

Naysayers, one and all!

I say, to HECK with you naysayers! Yes, to HECK with you.

TG-16 is gorgeous, too. You Japanophilistines may only like tiny tits and rudimentary penises, but I love all sizes of tits and pricks. THANK GOODNESS.

I agree the TG-16 is beautiful on the inside, but I just don't go for fat chicks :/

Maybe I'll get really drunk one day and buy one off eBay.

I prefer to think of the TG-16 as "curiously elongated", myself. :pcgs:

I still find it odd in the interview when the vp said he was concern with sega more then nintendo.Just look at there commercials and they were bashing mostly nintendo....... :P Yeah they really knew how to promote there console  ](*,) Not to mention,i laughed when they mention researched showed that the design for the pce look to expensive for the consumer.Still i wish the question was asked why they didn't sell the 3.0 card to retailers.By the way happy birthday to the little 8-bit console that could.

The Super Famicom and Megadrive have sliced no bread against PC Engine!!

And yea, I coulda swore we had a thread celebrating this.  ;)
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!
