Spent a few hours today working on this project.  I'm thinking about ordering another box.

Has anyone had success creating their own covers from scans?  I have a handful of games that the cover project doesn't have up on their site.

Wow, those look really nice!

I do some DVD production so have plenty of spare DVD cases on hand, which I've used to print off cases for loose PS1 and Saturn games, but have never thought to create cases for my loose NES games. How much do those cases run?

You can pick up the cases here: http://www.mediashelving.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=USCG and I snagged all the covers here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/

There's also some DS cases out there you can use for GB, GBA, DS and VB games.

Are you opening a video rental store?

Step behind the curtain for the good stuff

I am going to order a box if someone wants to go in halfsies. Shipments come in 100.

And I have made my own box art by using the templates on Coverproject and adding game art.

What type of paper do you use for the cover art?

What's the total with shipping?  I might be interested.

I used straight up legal paper that i "borrowed" from work on a color laserjet.  The plastic sleeve on the case gives it enough gloss for me.

It's pretty quick work with a dremel. I did about 40 of them and I don't think it took more than 1/2 hour.

If anybody wants to go halfsies on a box of these let me know. my loose NES carts need a home.

Yes sir! Still have a good chunk of my NES/SNES carts in them.

I bought a case of these and did them for awhile as well but wound up deciding I would sacrifice the aesthetic for more space, but that's just me.  I have a lot of them left and would be willing to sell them at cost + shipping if anyone is interested.

I hear you. I think I had almost 150 of these at one point and just decided that they were taking up way too much shelf space. I trimmed it down to about 80 for NES and SNES carts, the rest are loose in dust covers.

You guys are CRAZY! Those plastic cases, while nice, simply take up too much room.

Personally, I store all of my games in coffee cups and lace baggies:

After watching a video about the cover project, I got very excited about this idea. I bought a couple hundred of these cases a month or two ago. Got a dremel and a printer, lots of ink. After too many hours and far too many dollars ($150 for 200 cases shipped), I'm not sure if it was worth it. I think most of my displeasure is leveled at the poor quality of my cover prints though. The cases are great, but if you've got a lot of NES games you are in for many hours of work. I was somewhat surprised at the lack of covers available at TCP, though I'm sure that will change.

Anyway, here's a crappy pic:

Some covers are available in posts, instead of the sidebar.
Might try a Forum Search @ TCP.
