looks like now I have an eBay issue

So this one has never happened to me.

I sold something over a month ago to a good buyer, paid fast, no troubles.  I shipped the box.
About 3 weeks later, I get the box back.  I don't see any reason why, except the "Return to Sender" stamp all over the box.
hmmmmmm....
So, I contact the buyer and tell him I got it back and I would like to send it out again.  I didn't know if he refused shipment or anything like that for some reason.
Well, he hasn't gotten back to me after a couple of attempts and he has had no eBay activity since purchasing my item.  Is he dead?
It's very odd and I'm wondering if I should just refund him, re-sell it, and wipe my hands of it.  I think that's the best thing to do at this point?

Yes, if you can't get a hold of him it's better for both if you give a refund, at least it won't bite your ass later.
