I love Fugazi. And Minor Threat for that matter. Pretty important bands in terms of punk music, in my opinion obviously. I sadly haven't listened to these records in awhile though (I only have the first Fugazi record, X songs or something. And i have Minor Threat by Minor Threat, lol).

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Dinosaur Jr. I'm a fan of 90's punk/emo/alternative/weezer/whathaveyou so this band somehow escaped me for awhile.

A lot of my music interests can kind of be rooted back to skateboarding in a weird way. I, like most, loved the THPS soundtracks. So between those games and watching skate videos/parts all the time, I was always enjoying the music and digging further into the band or genre. Not that i skate very well, but I'm into every other aspect of skating.

But some of my top bands that i either go back to constantly or have been listening recently are:

Weezer (Blue Album and Pinkerton exclusively)
Cap'n Jazz
Dinosaur Jr
Minor Threat
Back to the Future Soundtrack
Rod Stewart (only "Young Turks" though)

Also, haven't there been multiple music threads? I guess topics get re-filtered every so often. Oh well!

I usually just have pc engine tracks from sunteam and lucasarts stuff from stans previously used soundtracks on loop. Also some good stuff from vengefulchip

mitsuman

I'm all over the board. Techno (fuck calling it EDM), classic rock, Tool (I won't put them into a genre because they are too bad ass), hip hop, drum and bass, newer stuff like Purity Ring, Sylvan Esso, classic country, and so on.

I like pretty much everything except for pop and new country (country pop). It's all shit.

FIRST OBSERVATION: there are way more fans of the music I like than at any time in the history of this forum. Crazy.

I like a ridiculous amount of genres/bands. I'd say my obsession with music is beyond video games because I am always listening to something.

FUN FACT: Only recently did I start to listen to video game music as "music" instead of simply "fake music". I always liked video game music, but it was very important for me to keep it distinct from "real music"

GEISE: cats and dogs have all the luck.

NULLITY:  every single fucking song on the first two A-ha albums are gems. That's insane.

DALLAS: so, I like a lot of the punk/hardcore/postpunk stuff that came out on dischord records...I am guilty of loving Slant 6, Dag Nasty, Nation of Ulysses, etc etc.

GG ALLIN was a racist, scary fuck, but he still intrigued me...but not enough to endorse him. I put him in the "real deal" category...he wasn't a trendy, wannabe racist misanthrope, he hated everybody. I think I still own the documentary about him (VHS) if any body wants it. I'd have to find it first.

David Bowie
Doo wop 50's

All electronic music, including soundscapes/noise adventures

80's synth

Early thrash metal and stuff like OVERKILL (I love NJ)

Moss Icon, Indian Summer, Antioch Arrow

Born Against

80's synth pop. All of it. Did I mention that?

Bach. Motherfucking Bach.

I could go on and on and on.

I won't.

This was 1% taste.

IRON MAIDEN
QUEENSRYCHE
KRAFTWERK
DEPECHE MODE
ZOUNDZ
CRASS

I agree about GG Allin. He was a fucked up dude in just about every single aspect. I really don't care for his music, specifically because it's so fucked up. I would not endorse him either, that's just another level of weird. As was GG, weird and fucked up on a whole other level.

But i am, however, interested in this VHS you speak of. I've seen brief clips of him on youtube, but I'm not familiar with this documentary. If you could find it, let me know! In the meantime though, I'll just search around online when I'm feeling inclined to do so.

Cool.  I only discovered him about a month ago, when I heard about his upcoming Command Mission album.  I ended up ordering all the cd's he had available, there's still a few he's gonna ship out in February after his tour.  He seemed excited when I told him about my Turbo CD Mega Man project, so I'm going to keep him in the loop once I've finished it, though, I have no idea if/what he knows about the Turbo.

Oh wow you have the actual record? That's awesome. Where did you get that?

But basically, they released an album that compiled all of their EP's and Demos and whatnot (Boys 16 and 18 is on it). So it's kind of an album, more of an anthologoy. But they called it Analphabetapolothology (say that twice)

Arkhan Asylum

I basically have listened to nothing but JPop for the last 2 years straight, lol.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

And to top it off... I love it when people remix musics with real instruments (especially the violin):

I really like a lot of the other Kinsella brother bands like Owen, American Football, and Joan of Arc. But between the two of them (and the guitarist from capn jazz started The Promise Ring i believe) there's just so much. I can hardly keep up. All i know is that Cap'n Jazz is one of my favvsss

I was way too into music, including punk/post-punk/hardcore/etc./etc.

I actually did not like the name of the band "Cap n jazz" back in the day, but I was surprised that the music wasn't lame.

There were so many crappy records, amateurish records, goofy records floating around...it didn't take much for me to appreciate the semi-decent stuff.

For example, I really loved a few tracks from a band called "First five through", but I can't find the old EP and I didn't find anything on the interwebz last time I looked.

Anyway, I have a zillion random songs I like from those days when I would find a great song on a random record.

OneSpotFringehead and The Commonwealth...recently I have an urge to find songs by these two (related) bands. Must be the snow, or something.

Of all the elders, Bach is my favorite.

Though, despite his politics, Wagner is another biggie.

I prefer heavier, brooding pieces in general, so I'll take a Passion over a William Tell 99 times out of 100.

Man, where to start...

My teenage years were spent mostly listening to a crap ton of punk/hardcore/crust like: Crass, MDC, Conflict, 7 Seconds, Earth Crisis, Minor Threat, Discharge, Bad Brains, etc.

And my 20s (I'll be 28 this year) have so far been a mix of 80s and 90s post-hardcore/emo/whatever like: Sunny Day Real Estate, Rites of Spring, Jawbreaker, Mineral, Promise Ring, Texas is the Reason, Christie Front Drive, etc...

...Along with some new punk/pop-punk such as Lawrence Arms, The Menzingers, Masked Intruder, Pup, and a whole bunch of other crap.

And I'm one of the lucky ones that got to see Refused play a small venue in SoCal instead of having to pay a butt load to barely be able to see/hear them at a large fest in 2013.
