yeah, i dont think it can keep up this pace.  after all the facebook supporters sign up, there probably wont be many more.  I do think now it will probably go over what i guessed.
I agree.  The hardcore supporters have been waiting for the campaign to go live,  It's been live now for over 6 hours and they have less than $50k.  It's a LONG road to $1.95 million.

No more guesses, bitches.  I mean, you can still post guesses but they will no longer count towards the raffle.

Someone posted this link over at AtariAge - It shows the forecast likelihood of achieving funding:

http://crowdcharts.com/campaign/retro-vgs

It was over 70% a few hours ago and is now down to 60%.

SephirothTNH

Yeah it already looks like it has slowed down considerably.  Still I will be surprised if it ends outside of the JohnnyKonami to esteban range.

I am kind of surprised no one came in with their guess being that it will succeed.

I think it's too early to even take something like that seriously.  I'll be interested to see what that chart looks like 3 days from now.

To he honest, I'll be surprised if it gets to my guess, but then again, it wasn't a "guess"...I was commanded by my Master to post in this thread.

I last checked the campaign 8 hours ago, and it was at $47k.  It's at $52k now.  Not good for the RetroVGS...

SephirothTNH

Yeah it pretty much slowed to a crawl after the first 4 hours.  Also the average is about 350 a person so far.  I'm starting to think I way overshot this.

GohanX

Same here, I change my estimate to 20 bucks and a half eaten bag of Skittles.

13 hours later, and it's at $57k.  Anyone want to make side bets on whether or not it reaches $100k?

I think they'll hit that at least by the end of the campaign, and I'm sure there will be a push right before it closes.

I've been checking this indiegogo rvgs thing out more than I care to admit.  But I just looked into it and it seems there have only been 27 backers in the last 24 hours.  This thing is basically dead in the water.  But some pointless speculation anyway.

IMO a best case scenario would have them maintain this lethargic pace until one final big push at the end.  If this occurs it just may hit around my initial prediction.  With a real nice push at the end the victory may actually go to me.  Or more likely in true "Price is Right" fashion ToyMachine78 will be the closest without going over.

A more likely scenario will have them maintain this current pace or slightly less till the end with no real boost at the end.  And this race is going to be between JohnnyKonami and ToyMachine78.

Of course it could further stagnate...

Hmm.  I'll wager a random, non sports, genesis game that this thing breaks 100k.

I know there are that many backers total.  But if you go to the backers tab you can see how long ago they backed.  As of my post only 27 in the last 24 hours.  Yeah there were something like 120 in the first 4 hours.

Oh, ah, I see what you meant. The 27 comments led me to think you just saw that. Apologies!

SephirothTNH

No prob.  Actually just looked up the crowdcharts data.  There were 34 backers on the 20th.  Compared to 131 on the 19th and 5 so far on the 21st.  UTC time.

I still have a chance!

$60,373USD
raised by 171 people in 2 days

I'm wondering if they are going to shut this down early and try to regroup.

CGQuarterly

Well, if they shut it down early then we will just go with whatever the backer total was when they ended it.  And I too think that they are going to shut it down early.  Having that seriously-underfunded campaign hanging out there, along with the foot that Mike Kennedy keeps sticking in his mouth, is just about the worst PR that you can get.

LostFlunky

I am hoping some of the backers, keep on backin' - OUT, that is... get it back down to $35K.  K?

T2KFreeker

Since it looks like it's going to be a dead issue any time now, it would seem unfair, so I'll take the price is Right approach, you'll all be wrong and....

Had they used Kickstarter, they could have more easily done that.  Hell, they might still do that a day or two before the campaign ends.  Any "shill backers" backing the thing now would have to wait almost 2 months to get their money back.

mickcris

It's back to 182 from 186 backers earlier today. Maybe I still do have a shot!

SephirothTNH

Wow this thing is moving backwards.  I've never seen such.  I wonder if they are feeling that cold hard reality now or if they are still delusional.

CrackTiger

Maybe if they lash out at more people and state once again that only they know best, they'll stop losing pledges and start gaining them again.

Regarding the lost backers yesterday:

When the campaign lost about 5 backers, one of the 3 RVGS guys tried to sugarcoat the situation in a post on facebook, stating  that someone had made a false pledge of over $1000 and then reneged right away.

Um... that is not what happened at all...

At this point, it seems silly to try to attempt ANY damage control on a ship that is already shredded on the rocks. There is nothing left to save. The dream has been dashed on the rocks.

If they wanted to instill confidence, they wouldn't even bring up a handful of backers backing out, they'd just calmly move forward and have everyone believe they expect to make it up as the campaign moved along.  5 backers is nothing to lose your shit over, even when the projections overall aren't good for them.  That's the domain of internet forum peeps like us, to nitpick over minutia.  It's not a bad thing to be that way, mind you, but certainly not a good image for these guys to have.  They have to maintain some sort of press filter to keep up appearances of professionalism.

Of course that's long been thrown out the window.

mickcris

Good Morning ! I wanted let you all know we will be interviewing with a neutral third party who has objectively been reporting on this venture since the beginning. We believe that after this interview, all will become quite more clear to all of you. In the meantime, please consider backing our venture to get the campaign ball rolling a bit faster. If we can't convince you in time, you can always cancel your contribution.
If you have believed in what we are trying to accomplish then please show your support early on. We are also hoping the press will pick this up soon, but it will help to get the contribution #'s moving in the positive direction. Also, please don't let the higher minimum goal deter you from contributing. It represents 6,000-7,000 people which isn't a large # when compared to other higher profile games and hardware projects that have been successfully funded in the past. It also represents a minimum amount of users coming out of the campaign to build on for our early developers who have so graciously come on board to have games ready for you day one. And it also yields us enough operating capital (after cost of goods) to run the business efficiently and deliver the product to you in a timely manner.
We will be posting this interview in the next few days so be on the look out as It should address and answer many of your questions and concerns. Thanks again to all of you for your passion behind this project!"
