Resource For Real World Prices?

Is there a resource that shows what the value of Turbo systems, games, etc. are? I know Ebay likes to jack up the prices .. so was just curious if there was somewhere to see what we really should be paying for these items.

You should figure out what a game is worth to you first and then see if you can find it within that price range. The best way to do that is to play through a game before deciding whether to buy it..

There aren't any accurate resources for pricing, but there are a lot of misleading price and rarity guides out there. The only way to get an accurate feel for what any given item is selling overall, you have to keep an eye on selling and failing-to-sell prices for several months. It's not a big deal if your aren't after an insta-set. Just start off buying games you feel comfortable about the prices for and buy and play them as you watch out for the rest, particularly waiting the longest to get a feel for prices you are most unsure of.

A lot of people have suggested to me to browse the sold ebay auctions to get a rough approximation of what others are willing to buy it for, and then like BT said decide what it's worth to you, and try to pay that price.

It know it's crazy talk, but this is true. Pay what it's worth to YOU! If you really gotta be the cool kid in your town and have the MC, then your gonna be paying cool kid prices. <- this is collectard mentality, to be avoided. There are lots of games available that are not jacked up b/c of being mentioned on random web sites' "most rare" or "most expensive"

Unless of course you have Kanye moneys, then make it rain on eBay!

Some of it is, some of it isn't. I did manage to get Power Golf there for dirt cheap though. Though I do say the Duo prices are probably close to what you pay on ebay if not a bit more..

It doesn't work so great for somewhat rare stuff that sells only a few times a year, but for most games I shoot for the bottom end of ebay sold auctions.  If it's on ebay / amazon / whatever commercial site, that's what I try to hit; if it's here on the forum, I shoot for that minus fees or better.

I do what NecroPhile said and look at the bottom prices of a game on ebay over a given period of time.

Also like Black Tiger said if I feel game A justifies that price to me I will buy it and if not I won't.

One thing you need to take in to consideration is that Gamdude sale prices are for complete games  and also just HuCard games. I've been going to gamedude for over 20 years. Sometimes I find games complete with manual and HuCard case and some times just the HuCard. Prices are the same if complete or just a HuCard. So don't base your prices solely on Gamedude prices. For example look at Magical Chase at Gamedude it is $279.00 with box and instruction manual or without. If you can find a Magical Chase in any condition for $279.00 don't hesitate. I know I will never see a Magical Chase at Gamedude for that price. They know what it is worth. It won't ever make it to public sale. But sometimes they do make mistakes. For example 3 months ago I found 4 sealed Buster Bros at GameDude for $24 each located in the import section. I bought one, then I went back 2 weeks later and they were in the Turbografx games for $39.00. If your lucky you can get a game complete in box for loose prices. So go out and search local game stores in your area first before purchasing on ebay. In conclusion doing research definitely is the best option. Don't buy the first thing you see, unless you know what your buying. Good luck and good hunting.
