Out of curiosity, I cracked open the BMP to see what the batteries are for.  Inside is another battery! As well as a capacitor and the chips.  So I guess the saves are kept by the internal battery, and the AAAs are used to recharge it.  Crazy cool!  =D>

Well, that is pretty neat. Was the BMP designed to be service-technician-friendly, or did you just make a sacrifice to the Gaming Gods?

It's held togheather by just 3 phillips screws, very easy to open.  After putting it back togheather my saves were all still intact.  NEC builds stuff to last.

This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!
