2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

I have a turbo duo. I want to play ACD games. I know I need the arcade card duo and not the pro. Do I still need a converter for the card to play the games? (isn't that how it is with the ac-pro on a TG-CD?)

(Btw, it is a modded duo, if that has any bearing on this)

Apologies on my lack of this basic knowledge. :(

Unless by 'modded' you mean region modded, then you will indeed need a region converter of some sort - be it a region switch, a pin converter (diving board, purple Barney, etc.), or a ChopsadoTM stuck to the Arcade Card.  I'd go for a region mod, as the converters are wildly overpriced and your Duo's already been adulterated anyway.

Yea, its reigon-modded. I also have a diving-board too, but was curious if just the regon switch was needed, as I was thinking about selling it.

Boy, my 12-yr old self would have been very disappointed if I would have purchased the Arcade card BITD before I aquired the converter. hehe

Thanks for the info necro

In a Duo you can use the Arcade Card Duo, or the Arcade Card Pro. A TG-16 plus CD, on the other hand, requires the Pro.

The only purpose of a converter is to let you play HuCards from another region. This is the same purpose as the region mod. Therefore you are set two times over. Sell the converter, or trade it for something since you don't need it.

Anyone interested in the diving board?

Sell it on eBay. Some moron will pay you $50 for the POS.

Ha!

Yea put a BIN of, oh say, $1000. That sounds right, eh?

Sounds a bit high.  Toss in a couple of common titles though, and it'll be worth a cool $250:lol:

The last thing I would ever want to do is rip off a fellow enthusiast.

Its not worth that to me, if I can trade for a decent game, that works for me. Its not about money for me. (Not that I have any, cuz I don't) :(

Just fair for both parties.

I'm sick of dbags with outrageous prices. Ex: I was at a flea market last weekend and found a video game shop with a few tg games....the douche was asking $40 for ninja spirit!WTF?!?!
I already have it, but I asked "why so expensive?"

"Oh, its super rare"

I say, "y'know its like $8 on ebay?"

"They aren't selling it for what its worth" he says.

I walk away looking down, shaking my head.

Damn shame.

Flea Market's do that. One day you make a run on rare NES games the next day, Ninja Spirit is $40.

I remember when diving board adaptors came free with games. The "no holds barred, max all my cards" collectors of US stuff have driven the price of these things to completely stupid levels. These people will actually pay more for a janky, garage-made HuCard adaptor than it takes to buy an entire Japanese system.

I agree completely. It's unethical and just too expensive.

Arkhan Asylum

too bad its not the purple barney one.  Id buy that just because I think it looks hilarious sticking out of the system like a tumor.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

yikes. I still have one of those, chopped to hell because the game store said that would "make it work" better. I was 14, so what did I know? I've been thinking about trying to make it work again, but I have two duos, so it's not real necessary.

SignOfZeta

My purple Barney converter is brown. Its also hacked to hell to fit in a Duo. I think I can still get more than the $5 I paid for it though with the eBay climate being what it is.

Holy crap, I used to have one of those ugly boxy converters!! I thought it was funny that he included SFII with it, considering that you can't even play it on that converter. The card doesn't fit in the slot, so I had to hack the damn thing apart way back when. Plus I cut off those wings on the side in order to fit it into a Duo. Ah, memories. Thank goodness for the Kisado!!
