2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

I got some new ISO files of japanese Mega CD titles to try out, and NONE OF THE MUSIC WILL PLAY ON ANY OF THEM. WHY IS THIS? And how do I fix it?

EDIT:Oh yeah, another thing:Some games like Devastator and Earnest Evans wont even LOAD past the screen that says Produced by or under license from something something Sega Enterprises, and the Sega logo under it.

you using the Japanese BIOS file for Sega CD in the emulatortron9000?
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

yes but what BIOS file are you using for the Sega CD emulation...

if youre playing Japanese games you have to have a Japanese BIOS file setup in the config

I have a japanese bios file. The games play, but they don't play the music.

I've never played an iso before, but did you convert the mp3 (or whatever format) tracks into wav files first?

Yes, and it's STILL not working. What am I doing wrong?

Nazi NecroPhile

I'd guess that your rips are of dubious quality (the mp3s are a dead giveaway), and the cue file is off.  Is there anything for MegaCDs similar to NightWolve's TOC Fixer?

CrackTiger

Why don't you try buying a real Mega-CD game and ripping it to test?

SNKNostalgia

Make an individual folder under roms folder for the game. Put the ISO and the MP3s in that folder, you don't change them to wave. Make sure the tracks are labeled like Example:Final Fight.iso, Final Fight02.mp3, Final Fight03.mp3 etc... The name of the iso and mp3 files has to match. Final Fight.iso and FinalFight2.mp3, Final_Fight-02.mp3 won't work if the iso is named that way. Are you using KEGA Fusion? That is the best one.

SuperDeadite

Actually it's probably your .cue file.  If you've converted the mp3s to wavs, then the cue file is certainly wrong.  You could edit it manually, or get SegaCueMaker to generate a new one automatically.

You don't even need to use .cue. Just load up the iso and the mp3s will play as long as they are named the same way as the iso.
