I love this game.

But where is Dangun Feveron!?

Cave also mentioned a brand new SHMUP (possibly Progear 2?!) being released before the end of the year in arcades.

It looks like Deathsmiles may be selling well enough that Cave isn't afraid to bring its games overseas anymore. That's great news! :)

Opethian

Well the new game "Akai Katana" looks like a mix between Deathsmiles, WW II aircrafts and samurais. sounds like a winner!

Looks very good! Next needs to be vertical though...  :)

I think its only fair to let a horizontal shooter come out once in a while. They've almost become extinct.

Also, I prefer them. :)

As much as I love Cave, I wish they'd try something at least a little different.  All their games look exactly the same.

That new Cave shooter looks really nice!  I am with Tats and wish they'd start using 2d hand drawn sprites again rather than pre-rendered 3d.  The hardware they use now should be able to do nice high resolution 2d.  Regardless the game still looks nice and I'm sure the gameplay will be good.  Some of those boss fights last longer than the levels themselves haha.  Now all we need is an updated Dangun Feveron (my personal fave)

lol, who cares.  Its all the same concept with different graphics:  Shoot stuff, dodge stuff, drool. <3
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Dangun Feveron will never get ported.  It's owned by the defunct Video System....

Whenever someone makes a stupid comment like this, I always bring up Treasure.  They've only made three shooters, and not only are they the three best shooters in existence, they're also completely different from each other.  This is what's called talent, having the ideas to move the genre to new places and deliver fresh experiences.

Cave makes the same fucking game over and over.  It's a very good game, don't get me wrong, but it wouldn't kill them to exercise some talent in addition to their skill.

Radiant Silvergun has to be one of the worst designed games I've ever played.  You have to memorize the entire game and chain perfectly or you get screwed over about half way through.  Most people that praise it just play Saturn mode so they can start the game at level 35 negating this issue. Play it properly and you quickly learn it's a bad game with pretty graphics.

Its not stupid.

I mean most of the PCE shooters are all spaceship + vertical + dodgestuff.  The only difference being music/art but sometimes the art isnt even that different lol.

Welcome to genres!  I am usually more concerned about the dodging and the action than the theme.  Maybe that's why I don't really care if its the "same game" over and over. :D

Well the DoDonpachi games rely on a Chain system that's not in their other games.  I somewhat agree that they're games are similar but there are some subtleties that make them different.
Radiant Silvergun I always thought was good from the first day I bought it.  However I find the Chain System in that game much to be desired.  Mainly cause I'm not that good at the Chain System.  I can beat it without continuing on hard, but I'm not that good at chaining. I also feel it doesn't make the game more fun to play adding that style of gameplay no matter how much skill it takes to do.  It's a good game but I'd rather go play something like Layer Section or Soukyugurentai Terri Diver.  Hell or Spriggan haha.  Yes definitely Spriggan.

SuperDeadite I didn't know Video System's had anything to do with Dangun Feveron.  I thought it was all Cave?

SuperDeadite

Video System is the publisher and IP owner of Feveron.  Cave made the game itself though.  Another example is Progear, which is fully owned by Capcom.  It's Capcom's choice if there is ever a Progear port or not.

*prays for region free 360 versions of Akai Katana, Muchi Muchi Pork, and Pink Sweets *

Opethian

hah well DDP Daifukkastu is looking like iPhone only release (so far) MMP and Ibara sequels havent been released by now probably never will. Let alone Region free. They didnt make Ketsui or Deathsmiles II region free. I doubt they would make another region free game. They may localize Deathsmiles II is the first one fares well here.

I wouldn't worry about Deathsmiles II as it's balls compared to the first one.

How so? I don't think Cave has made one bad game yet.
