I just saw this to.  I was shocked! I don't own the game so I can't comment, but wow another $100+ game I dont' have.  I hope it was the exception not the rule.
Gypsies did it.

Got no luv for the krackers only slugs for the krackers!

Geez! The value of turbo games just keeps rising. A cibler Air Zonk recently sold for $132.50, and that game is on ebay all the time. http://cgi.ebay.com/Air-Zonk-TurboGrafx-16-1992-/250800776154?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item3a64e423da

Although Soldier Blade is harder to find, it is not worth anywhere near as much as the $260+ it sold for. I picked up my (US) Soldier Blade with manual and blank T-16 case for about $40 at a retro-gaming shop in Chicago a couple of months ago which I thought was a decent deal.

BlueBMW

  Good grief man!  I think I paid $50 for mine without the box.  It seems that turbo stuff is destined to be overpriced :(
[Sun 23:29] <Tatsujin> we have hard off, book off, house off, sports off, baby off, clothes off, jerk off, piss off etc

PunkCryborg

didn't you hear turbo was the new AES

Nazi NecroPhile

No, it ain't worth anywhere near that much.  I think eBay is currently overrun by foolish twats with tax refund checks in hand, so the price will drop back to 'normal' in a month or so.

Holy cow!  I love that game, but $130+?!  That's just crazy!

VestCunt

I'm rapidly losing patience with the recent crop of NEC noobs.
Exile 2 sold for $167 today.

ya $40 -$50 would be fair for Soilder Blade... but that is a price for the people who have common sense.

DragonmasterDan

This seems like a situation where one person said "I HAVE TO HAVE SOLDIER BLADE, but I'm too lazy to snipe it. I'll put some astro amount of money out as my max bid to ensure I get it" and someone else had a similar mentality.

Geez, and I've been too cheap to drop $50 on the PCE version. I guess I'm just not a playah.

$260...dang, WTF?

I think a lot of that fellow's auctions went for such high amounts because they were clean copies that had the boxes. The boxes certainly can add a big premium. I think for those who want to play the game, a loose cart or cart+manual can still be had at a reasonable price. Heck, I sold a complete boxed copy for about $67 or so on ebay within the past year if I recall...

These auctions really make those custom cases all that more attractive as an option for those who still want a complete look to their collection but don't necessarily care about the cardboard boxes....

CrackTiger

A wealthy person or someone with too much credit is cobbling together an insta-collection.  [-X
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

War Pig

I want a complete copy, but once it went beyond $100 (which was early), I moved on.

His complete in box Shockman also went for a huge amount.  Almost $140.

I'm sure the outer boxes are what raised all the prices to ungodly amounts. i was bidding on a good bit of his complete TG16 stuff, but couldn't justify spending that kind of money for all of them. Sometimes i really wonder if these people have buddy accounts that help jack up the bids to insane prices like these, because they definitely went way higher than they should have

tggodfrey

I am sure they do have additional friends helping bump the sales up.  I caught people on the automotive site i ran doing that and using the "Chit Chat" forum to post requests for it.  Needless to say I banned people for that.  The whole concept is BS
Games currently in play:
PS3: COD Ghosts
TG16: Boxyboy

Raizen1984

That sucks...

*goes back to playing $6 VC version*

MasonSushi

well i just want the manual and the HU . I don't care about the box. With the CIB jumping in price, i fear that its goign to make the manual/hu price jump as well

Looks like that complete Soldier Blade, has already caused the non complete versions to spike.  I guess I'll be waiting to complete mine.  There's a manual and hu on ebay now (getting ready to end) that's already at $66.  Damn ebay......

geise

People just need to shop other places besides ebay.  I scored a $20 copy (loose) two years back from on of the best old school running stores Game Dude!  I used to order all my turbo stuff from them if I didn't buy it locally.  Yeah there's usually only ebay for certain games, but if you really take the time to look elsewhere you get lucky from time to time.

BlueBMW

Bulk buys are always a good choice if you can find them.  (and find them before I do )

Is this one of the later US releases that doesn't even come with a case? If so...fuck the US version.

...paying 6x as much for a cardboard box when you could have a real case with the PCE version...ridiculous.

Preach on brother Zeta.

MotherGunner

Wow, the first one I bought a few years back and paid $34 shipped on Ebay, the second one I paid $25 shipped on Ebay and that was only a few months ago.

Man holy crap, like barely 2 years ago I remember winning a lot of 3 complete truly pristine, clean crisp games for only $106.01, they were Time Cruise, Neutopia II, and Soldier Blade. Basically thats like what, only $35 a game.

MasonSushi

Well you really can't quote prices from 2 years ago as valid comparisons. Now if it was a month or two a go, that's one thing but a lot happens in 2 years. Look at our gas situation, housing and just general economy. The dollar isn't worth nearly as much.

I think the system is gaining collecting popularity and with that come people that will over pay so they don't get screwed in the future if that game seems to spike and they don't have it.  Part of this is good for a collecting community. If gives you more people to trade with and share stories with. Its bad for the fact that seemingly common and uncommon games can just spike in price causing long time collectors to get frustrated because they didn't get what they wanted before the influx of new collectors drove up prices.
