You cannot, however, deny that the early '90s was a shmupper's paradise on the system and no other console of the time (save perhaps the PC-Engine) came close to matching the incredible library the Genesis was home to.

hoped to see many more excellent upcoming movies with him. I also thought he still had his best movie years ahead.

Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead Sunday afternoon in his New York City apartment, a law-enforcement official said.

The New York Police Department is investigating, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine exact cause of death. The official said Mr. Hoffman, 46 years old, was found dead at his apartment at 35 Bethune St. in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan.

Mr. Hoffman won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the 2005 film, "Capote."

Since peeps in here coming from all around the world and places I was wondering on what game devices (PCs, HCs, consoles, arcade machines etc.) you were introduced to the world of Video Games and grow up with?

Sure there must bee some obscurities I have never seen or heard about bevore. Tell us your stories

For me it would be..

introduction: arcade games in the late 70s/eraly 80s at around 5yo in places like restaurants etc.
first HC: a V-20 at a dads friends home (that guy was kind of a computer geek back then). i think I've played a phoenix kind of game.
first own game device: G&W Mickey mouse double screen for x-mas '82. soon traded it with my dads green house, since I liked that much better (still my fav. GW today).
first console: a used atari VCS 2600, soon was replaced by a commodore C-128.

then it went on with amiga, nes, sms, pce, md, sfc etc. stuff.

..a new commercial PCE system, what should it be look like and capable of?

1. 100% compatible to any media for PCE and TG-16 systems (hueys, turbochips, CD, SCD, ACD, SGFX (Super Huey), any unofficial CDs).
2. A best as possible upscaled and scanlined HDMI output, for the best picture possible on modern TV sets.
3. Still be able to output oldskool analogue video like AV, S-Vid and RGB.
4. Compatible to all available controllers. Prefered with two or more controller ports.
5. The Design should be something like the DUO. It was already nearest perfect.
6. I'm not sure if this would be a very good Idea, but anyway kinda nice to have for hombru scene etc. stuff. A SD card-slot for loading any PCE roms and CD images.

this thread is deticated for posting/share some self-created very short stories

here's one of mine:

once upon a time, teh turdy, teh peey, teh cleany and teh flushy went together on a hiking trip. then the turdy suddenly was attacked and eaten up by a horde of flies. the peey, so sad about this happening wept at the side of turdys remains, until almost nothing from him was left. blessedly cleany and flushy also joined that trip, so cleany could clean up the remains of turdy and peey while flushy could take care about the disposal of cleany. flushy then finished the trip by him alone and he all flushed happily ever after. end of (a true) story.

When did the well known yellow smiley face (created in 1963) first appeared as a bitmap version in any kind of computer use (PC, MAC, internet or what ever)?

I know that there are unicode smilies (b/w & w/b) from 1981, and the ascii art :-) which its first use is recorded back to 19-Sep-82 11:44.
But when and where was it firstly introduced as a real yellow colored bitmap version ( )?
