Quote from: guest on 10/10/2017, 12:53 PMNow that you've acquired sufficient skill with the PC Engine, will you be doing any more ports of old PC games, or even new, original content?

if oneday i make a new one, i'd like to make a metal slug clone

#6
Quote from: guestSo, are you doing separate carts for every version, or are you bundling all the versions together and letting people choose which to play?
i have done separate carts for each version
you can download the 7 versions in the first page of the topic

hello
it's me again with the 6th rom of barbarian on PCE,
the Commodore 64 version, with the updated wonderful music
In the video the sound is bad, but the sound effects are here.
TOUKO helped me to integrate the two music ingame + sounds effects and it were difficult !
i have modified the difficulty, its a little more hard. say me if you reach the wizard again
And here is the link of the rom :

https://www.dropbox.com/s/b9dzyd4nzm68jc6/barbarianC64pce.zip

the last rom but not the least (CPC) will be available maybe last week, if i found free time.
bye

Quote from: Keith Courage on 02/27/2017, 03:16 AMI can't get the amiga version to work with my V1 everdrive but the Atari version works perfectly. The amiga version just boots to a blank screen.
its strange. i will test it on my v2 everdrive. anyone have the same problem ?
#22
Quote from: Dicer on 02/25/2017, 02:17 PMI get a corrupted archive on the Amiga link, the rom extracts and runs, I just get the error...

Amazing work so far, look forward to an updated PCE revision and a C= 64 version perhaps, but that aside each of these is wonderful.
thanks for the alert. i have updated the zip :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ses0lx6930ibrsk/barbarianAMIGApce.zip?dl=0
in the zip, there is a second zip (opensource.zip) with all the source and ressources. the error came from this second zip.
please re-download and say me if its works.
bye

hello

i have just finished the 3th rom, the AMIGA version
its the first 16bits version, with the most fine and coloured gfx of all
barbarian AMIGA PcEngine
the link to download the rom :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ses0lx6930ibrsk/barbarianAMIGApce.zip?dl=0
despite all the work we made with touko, there is some noise on sounds.
it was very difficult to integrate them.
#25
why not  8)
but i want to finish the originals before ;)
#26

touko and andrew have done a big work to integrate the new great music =D>
in the game, press II for switch between sfx/music
for the moment , only the atari version has the music. (donwload link on the thread)

hello
here is my first video of the game on the real hardware :
barbarian ATARI PcEngine
it's the AtariST version, for the moment the most finished of the 7 roms
i have just received this turboeverdrive, and while i'm waiting for the music, i'm debugging because
there is some little glitches on the real hardware that were not on mednafen !
see ya for the next update !

i dont know if it can help you TOUKO, but in the original games, you must choose between music or samples. i will do the same think for my remakes

whats is the name of the utility you mention  and where can i download it ?
thanks in advance
#31
hello
arkhan has done a nice work for the music theme of barbarian  =D>
i hope integrate it this week, with the help of TOUKO.

for the moment, i have a problem with the function set_tile_data :

in the game i have a background (displayed with load_background )
this background has only 15 colors in one palette (created with incpal)
here is my problem :
i need to put some tiles on my background, but in a different palette
i do like this :
#incchr(logo,"GFX/decor/logo.pcx",26,4 )
#incpal(paletteLOGO,"GFX/decor/logo.pcx" )
set_bgpal( 2 , paletteLOGO );
set_tile_data(logo, 6, paletteLOGO );
load_tile(0x17f0);

and it doesn't works, it put tiles with my default background palette (0) !
i hope someone can help me !

QuoteI lied.  I got a boost of energy from these crackers and finished it for you.  Sent the email, lol
a very very big thanks to you and these crackers
you have done a big work on those songs. it sounds very nice
i hope i will integrate them this week with the help of touko !
#33
Yes, I build each version separately
Each version has its small details, differences, strengths and weaknesses, but I would like to redo these 7 original versions of barbrian on pce
I would integrate your two music that you are doing in the c64 and cpc versions.
I realize the work that this represents and I thank you for it.
Without your help, I could not finish these two versions and it would be a shame
Good luck for the rest of work !

Quote from: guest on 01/21/2017, 05:15 AMGreat work! Are we going to get the Spectrum version?
of course  :P
but it will be the last, after the 16bits versions (atari/amiga) because the spectrum version is the most difficult version to do

Quote from: esteban on 01/21/2017, 06:02 AMComrade!

I implore you, you must, at the very least, allow users the *option* for Button II to make our hero grunt as he shrugs his shoulders.

Thank you.
the game is open source, modify or ehance the code is possible for anybody who want it.

Quote from: guest on 01/19/2017, 01:55 AMOP, never played Barbarian, seems to be a fun little 1x1 fighting game. Any plans to map stuff to the second button or redoing the graphics ?
hello
no, i remake the games like the originals. the second button will be used to launch/stop the music theme

Quote from: guest on 01/19/2017, 09:18 AMSo, I've never actually played Barbarian at all. Anyone familiar enough with this to explain to me the basic gameplay ?
select button will change the mode. you have demo> solo > vs mode
select the vs mode to train
try all directions with pad, you will have all the moves and defense of the game
the same thing with I button used will make all the attack moves

news ot the game:
while i'm waiting for the music of c64 and cpc versions, i have done two others version of barbarian :
AppleII and PC version of 1988, named death sword in usa
those two versions were easy to make because they have a little number of color and their sound are... basic  :P
clic on the pictures to download the game :

i hope you will enjoy with this two new rom for pce !
see ya

#41

#42

for the moment, i work on the CPC version of barbarian, but
i want to do the same think than i maked on megadrive/genesis:

it may will take severals months
to give you an idea of my precedent work , here is a link of the differents releases :

hello
i'm new on the forum.
i'm a french coder and i like to remake old games
my favourite is barbarian, the famous 1987 game of palace software
in 2012,i have remake this game in basic for PC (with qb64)
in 2014, i have ported the game on megadrive/genesis (with bex)
to see my old remake, go to my website
and now my project is to port the game on PC engine
why the PCE  ?
because i was seduced by the power of the console, and the simplicity of its language : Huc
Especially for this occasion, I learned the language C
and since one month, i try to tame the beast  :D

here is a screenshot :

the development is progressing well, the game is now 100% working :
