Good luck with the sale man!
Yeah I'm with you, this thing looks sweet with the full Karaoke set up.  You don't see such styling anymore...

I believe this is from those wonderful Pixel boobies magazine "games".  Bikini Girls FTW.  with some Esty flavor text added.

Do I resemble that?  I guess.  It's ok to love PCE however you want.

You can't hate on "cardboard love" and hate on "emulator love" at the same time.  Turbo love of all kinds has its place.

Good luck to your hunt Kisaku.

I'm personally at the point where I am trying to be a Turbo archeologist and find the different variants released.  It's cool to find a new variant, and surprisingly it still happens.
Not to that extreme!  but your variant collection is amazing. so many turbo sticks

I love a good PCE stick

Quote from: soop on 02/12/2018, 08:42 AMprobably due to the UK never being directly involved in hostilities with Japan the same way the USA was.  For us, it was literally just a convenient three letter shortening you'd see in a column on black market import pages.
I get Jap may not have been considered particularly racist, but neither were a lot of once accepted words, societies change and so do the pressures of polite conversation.  I don't buy this for one second.  Just because I say something offensive and is just convenient doesn't mean it isn't hurtful towards people, or was originally used in such a way.

I'd like to point out that counter to your argument:
The battles of Singapore and Hong Kong are quite relevant. (Both were under British control at the time, and contained British Military bases/fleets)
Further, the UK was heavily involved in most of the Pacific naval theater.

Quick
BIshop
Schinder
Price
Fleury
Rinne

Hutton
Quick and Schneider get the nod from me for current goalies. However, Rinne and Quick are by far and away my two favorite goalies to watch right now.

But I agree with your list! I'd through Holtby in there as well.
Should of included holtby,

Side note: I've tabled actually watching the NHL games for a bit in favor of woman's Olympic hockey for the moment.  I find it interesting so many NHLers sisters play and are good.

The strange thing about the use of oriental there is that it came after the use of Japanese (although referring to the language)  I think it just may be a reflection of the time from that part of the world.

Still - awesome scans.

I still feel the same,

Let the kinks get worked out of the SS3 then grab it for the up-scaling / Everdrive built in one.  I agree with NEcro there seem to be other options out there for what the UG gives you. It's a really nice option if you want to go that route, but I'll let the SS3 work itself out into a better device and pick up one of those.

Quote from: VmprHntrD on 02/08/2018, 09:30 PMThere any particular reason when it comes to the six button controller why people tend to rip on the Avenue and suck up to the Hori one instead?  I mean I get the Hori one looks like a SNES controller, d-pad and all, but is that it or is there some comfort or defect issue with the other?

The price difference kind of sucks and I'd like to get one so I can handle those 3-6 button games better.
The biggest problem I've seen people have the Ave 6 vs the Hori for most people is generally comfort. As The 6 is squared off, while the Hori feels like Nintendon't.

I also have heard a few people say they prefer the D-pad on the hori.

I am a big fan of the Ave 3 and 6 pads.  They are my go to if I'm playing a game the 2 buttons can't handle. I've never had any issues with any of the ave 3 or 6 controllers I've owned.  I would recommend them.

I really enjoyed Sands of time!  it's one of the few in the series I can say that about.
I thought Sands was almost great.  I thought the next one was worse about everything I liked in Sands but had better combat.  The third one was almost there again but just didn't quite work for me.  Fast forward a generation and the cel shaded one?  Man I wanted to like that game but it was SOOOO easy that the game practically played itself.  Quite the letdown, honestly.

The Prince of Persia series has been on the cusp of greatness that it never achieved for such a long time.  In the end I'm left enjoying the first game the most and Sands of Time I put in second place.
While I think sands is the best, and just on the edge of greatness, but still a very very solid game.  I still replay it in fact.  I agree about the next one.  Combat was so much better, but everything else sucked.  I wish you take the combat of the follow up of that era and the game play/puzzles and story of Sands.

Maybe the next PoP will finally break into greatness.

Fair point Sir:
GAA3.38   Sv % 0.887
Quite a bit under let's say Hasek, Quick Broduer, Dryden.  and middle to back of the pack in all those years.

He is an all time great though, because he did win all those championships over a long playing career and thus is in the HOF despite being pedestrian stats wise.

Hell yeah.  I recently bought a nasty looking PS2 for $3.  Cloroxed the shit out of it, blew out the dust, cleaned the lense, lubed th gears, and now it runs perfectly.  Plays any and all CDs, DVDs and PS1/PS2 games I throw at it.  I even installed an HDD and I have been playing games right from the HDD.  So cool.

I also picked up Shenmue 2 for XBOX CIB for less than $2.

God bless America!
I assume you are trying to "troll" the people here are on the other side of things but i would argue:

this is different than "investing".  Investing in the since most people refer to requires speculation.  and therefor a great risk in losses. Speculation on used goods in general means you have a volatile market that could lead you to owning an item which is worth less than you put into it. Your minimal investing in used goods is not sustainable or long term and in general and does not carry a high level of risk since you are putting out minimal resources.  What your trying to do is tell everyone that the Exception is the rule.  The exception is never the rule.

Spending thousands or more on used video games ans sitting on them is a stupid if your reasoning is to make money.  It's what people tell themselves to justify buying them because they spend so much in money and time on them.  When instead they should just say, Hey I have fun with this, I like seeing this game and touching it and it makes me happy.  That's why I have all my physical games and systems they make me happy.

I don't care about your "scores".  or if you've made money.  IF your enjoying games and want to share the passion, that's awesome.  If you want me to be impressed by your cheap shenmue, I won't be. I don't keep scores that way.  To me the collector with 3 games and plays emulators and tries to learn about development and the games and has a ton of fun going to arcades and meet ups is way above the "look at my score guy" or "here is a video full of mis-information, but look I'm an expert" youtube guys .

My top 5 goalies of all time:  I could be convinced of moving any of these guys around and probably for a few I omitted to be in the top 5. I'm not sure Belfour is on the top 10 . . . Great goalie but so hard to put him in front of others

Brodeur - I gotta do it (the numbers back this up t least)
Hasek - the most fun, awesome athletic goalie I've personally seen.

Roy - changed the game in many ways

Plante - Until hasek came along the guy was the last goalie to have hart hardware

Hall - The dude invented modern butterfly. if he could have just learned to stop Orr. (still the greatest sports photo of all time, with Orr floating in front if him)

Hmmm interesting it's exactly the same, I wonder if we can find the track anywhere else?

Maybe like a history of ye old track over 30 years of commercial use.

I feel like writing AB and seeing if I could get a response on the music just for SAG.

Quote from: soop on 01/31/2018, 09:51 AMWell I certainly think that partnering with the NeoGeo forums is a PR disaster.
I will 3rd this.
Hahaha!!!! Well, I can't argue otherwise... Not just the over modding, I was also turned off by NeoSD being thin-skinned about this Japanese competitor product right here.

My post was deleted to prevent other PCE fans from finding out about UperGrafx in his thread when somebody asked about digital HDMI output.. I can understand arguments for the protectionism, but I was a little surprised they wanted to quickly squash any compare/contrast detour for those hoping for HDMI options some day... Way too sensitive for me.

If I'm gonna shill, it's gonna be for ALL PCE fans to know all options on the table before spending cash and not just help him maximize sales for a video analog-only output model. You can find his post to me, how defensive he got, dismissing this device as a "dream" and boasting how much better his is, etc.

For me, I'm more excited about a HDMI model and it tripling the resolution to 720p. I've thrown out or donated to friends most of my old CRT boob tubes. I'm still keeping my 32" Panasonic with YPbPr, but I'm very happy with LG 4K panels, love what they're doing, and I think this device is better future-proofing for US gamers.

SSD3 didn't go for that final touch to supply YPbPr/Component output for most US TV sets, it's geared to Europe in the RGB regard. Even then, a % of YPbPr TV sets need you to double the resolution to 480p or it won't work and you'll have to switch down to crappy Composite (they always still take 240p in Composite jack).

Anyway, they're both great products and I look forward to seeing how much these teams advance. Just making my preference known.
Thanks. After I stumbled on their Japanese page and noticed this back in December I've been trying to spread the word. People need to know that there is a video purist option!

FWIW, 720p will integer-scale to 4K. If you disable your TV's image processing (overscan simulation, motion interpolation, etc) you should get perfectly sharp pixels with no in-betweeners!

I've been doing Hi-Def NES and UltraHDMI installs and 720p is the recommended setting for 4K televisions.
Can you point me to a good place where I can see the 720P/4k with no in-betweeners. I've been looking for different options for my systems.

wikipedia has a release date of Jan 22 1988 -> so just about 30 years.

I wonder IF all these virtual console releases well after most companies have stopped amount to anything:

Some funny things Konami has done, specifically in relation to Hudson properties:

1) Trademark Turbografx-16 in the US
2) Release most of the PCE titles here in the US after the switch release and when support is dropping
3) Released a game not in English in NA
4) not just a Hudson/PCE thing but there has been quite a bit more "video game" items on their English social media accounts

I wonder if these are just strange things that are all independent or if they are switching things up moving forward. . .
