Quote from: guest on 07/08/2017, 03:49 PMAnybody watch this yet? I just finished it. I think it's pretty good, but the season was way too short.

My only complaint is I didn't like how they cast Trevor, and I really dislike that they did not use any of the classic tunes that everyone loves.

I still think it has a lot of potential though.
I watched the first two episodes. While it has Castlevania characters, it doesn't feel like it inhabits the same world as the games do. A combination of the art style, background music and general feel make me think this was some sort of rejected FoxBOX pilot from a decade ago with adult language more so than something that was made from the ground up to be Castlevania 3 the anime.

I'm watching episode #2 right now

I play mine as well, but I don't exactly have the best of the library.

Quote from: Gredler on 07/02/2017, 08:08 PMI can't wait to hear some info about the NEO SD, I'll be bothering you about it often in chat if you don't make a thread post about it here.

Also gypsy have you played NHL 94 CD before? That's a cherished gsme on my shelf that has more memories than most Sega CD games. Best version of the third best hockey game of all time, enjoy man!
Besides the fact that some of the Neo Geo games have very high file sizes and can take a few minutes to flash. The Neo SD is a breeze to use and is a must have considering the prices of AES games for anyone who owns an AES to play games rather than collect.

Quote from: guest on 07/02/2017, 09:24 AMYou can get them here: https://theyetee.com/shop/detail.php?itemid=CUPHEAD-Plush
Yep, they're a little on the small end at 30.00 for the pair but I love the art style of the game so I wanted some merchandise for it.

With that said the NeoSD is a slightly more exciting purchase.

Related to what I posted in response to Nectarsis here's what I've had come in the mail that's gaming related in the past day.

I feel like this should be in fighting street or something.
I feel like Brandon Lee did a better job of capturing the gothic look of the character compared to this new CG remake.

I've been watching some literal video music videos

Quote from: TDIRunner on 06/27/2017, 03:07 PMI don't think I've removed mine since I put it in.  Action Replay cheats, RAM expansion, extra save memory, region unlocking.  No reason to ever remove the thing.
It can't directly save to the cartridge from within a game for one thing. If you have KoF or back in the day wanted to use the netlink there was another. Try playing Panzer Dragoon Saga US with that thing in.

Quote from: guest on 06/27/2017, 02:14 PMI just leave mine in there at all times. No need to remove it, and I've never had any issues.
Yeah, I have.. a few Saturns..

I generally leave the memory cards in place permanently. I've been through 15 or so in the past 22 years, almost entirely changed out due to unusable cart slots (Funcoland used to have a year long warranty you could buy where they'd swap systems no questions asked, and believe me I had to use it as I switched between memory cards, netlink, action replay carts, etc).

Quote from: guest on 06/27/2017, 01:16 PMOr just get an Action Replay cart. I agree, though, HotD is a great game, and the Japanese version is the way to go.
Just remember, Saturn cartridge slot reliability is like that of a grade A egg after playing catch using a slingtshot at 30 yards away.

Quote from: guest on 06/23/2017, 03:51 PMI had seen these from a poster on Sega16 as well.  He included a 4th one which was this:

NOT an interview with Tomio Takami at Sega of Japans' Headquarters (September 27, 1991)

This one is fun because it's basically them wandering around Japan in 1991.

I love stuff like this because is shows, exactly how it was, back then in the industry.  All the ludicrous stuff now at E3 and TGS and the like is quite the contrast.
I was hitting my very first Summer CES's in 1991 and 1992 and while it was certainly a lot less busy I recall those events being much bigger and on par with E3 compared to whatever events they were attending in the videos.

Quote from: Gypsy on 06/23/2017, 12:08 PMYeah I definitely will. As I said in addition to old movie formats, I'm going to see how it cleans up my PCE composite. I've noticed a weird noise scroll. It might be the cord, I sure hope it isn't the system. So I'll definitely get some use out of the DPS-235.

The 50pro is pretty damn nice. I use it for DVDs in terms of really putting it to work, but I also pass through my HDMI systems and BD player with it. I've actually been stink-eyeing some newer Lumagen units, but I'm not sure when I'll actually take the plunge and buy one. I'm not sure how any of these newer Lumagens handle composite, but I'm only planning to use it with component and hdmi.

Yeah man it's a really nice TV. I'm only the 2nd owner and I got it for free off CL. I've already put so many hours on it. Before I got the PVM I was using it as my main set for RGB. It's still got plenty hooked up to it though. Just a beast.
I've been doing LDs on my PVM 3230 for the past few years over svideo.

If you were in a more urban area I'd say just check around thrift stores, yard sales, etc. A friend of mine picked up a DVL-919 for me a couple years ago at an estate sale. I also found a Pioneer CLD-D504 at a goodwill for 3.99 a little bit before that.

They're out there, but the very high end players are unlikely to be found outside of looking online at this point.

QuoteSo go to Mibbit.com and connect from there, lol.

Or use kiwi irc.

They provide a button to generate a widget if someone wants to embed it somewhere.  You can specify the channel/server.

#pcefx on irc.rizon.net

Have Aaron embed a Mibbit or Kiwi IRC chat widget pointing to my IRC channel right where the old shoutbox used to be.

It's only a few clicks to create said widget.

Quote from: esteban on 06/15/2017, 04:26 PMDamn, you didn't find the first film entertaining?

I did.
Nope,
It has all of the same terrible tropes that I despise in modern animated CG movies.

First off giving animals celebrity voices and or adding accents to characters not from a particular place (example Vin Diesel is a tree thing, a Raccoon with a New York accent, get it because that's the joke).

Pop music used heavily in place of an original score.

Basically to me it felt like a meld of knock-off Star Wars mixed with some Dreamworks garbage.

Quote from: esteban on 06/15/2017, 04:22 PMYes, exactly!

Well, I can save you the trouble of potentially committing a thought crime, the mere title of the book is a lie and nothing would be edible.
#231
Quote from: esteban on 06/15/2017, 07:06 AMInstead, I give you:

"Under the new laws, it will make it illegal to plan to commit 277 criminal actions, from arson to copyright infringement."

Copyright infringement.
So your simply thinking about copying down the contents of the pages from your recent library checkout "How to cook vegetarian meals that won't make you vomit" would soon be a crime.

Quote from: GohanX on 06/14/2017, 03:26 PMThe DC didn't do Neo cart emulation very well because of a lack of ram, but the DC had plenty of ram for CD games so the CD versions ran perfectly.
Yeah, I remember the main problem being the redbook audio level to sound effects levels being a bit off. Beyond that they ran fine.

Quote from: Gypsy on 06/14/2017, 09:35 AMYeah my best was getting Fire Emblem Path of Radiance many moons ago for $6. It got me hooked on FE like a crack addict. At the time I think it was only about a $30 game.

I had some other gets there as well but nothing comparable to PoR in terms of enjoyment and discovering something new.
It wasn't anything "new" to me in the sense that I had played a lot of grid style strategy RPGs before it. I also made the mistake of not leveling up Ike's sister so when you get to the battle before the end battle she got picked off pretty quick.
#242
Quote from: Gypsy on 06/14/2017, 09:03 AMThey used to clear out their games for cheap, but that doesn't seem to happen anymore at the locations near me. They seem to have some kind of system for pricing now and some games are as much as $40 (lol).
Maybe 13-14 years ago, before it got reprinted I picked up a used Gitaroo Man there. At the time it was one of the more sought after PS2 games.
#243

Quote from: Gypsy on 06/14/2017, 08:12 AMAlso the ones I've seen have a crappy pizza place inside too. Well the main one I pass by does, I think the one in a town I don't go to nearly as much has something else in the building too but I don't remember.

I never see many people there when I pass by, but yeah they seem to be making it.
I've seen subways attached to them as well, again since they own the lots it gives them more flexibility to do what they want with any extra space they have.

Quote from: esteban on 06/13/2017, 09:11 PMHell yes.

:)

I just remembered that I own a few of those standalone "rewinders" to save wear-and-tear on VCR.

I packed them during a move and now, multiple moves later, I don't remember unpacking them.
Those standalone rewinders could often ruin tapes since it didn't slow down the rewinding process towards the end of the tape.

Quote from: esteban on 06/13/2017, 04:22 PMI just watched a video on TubeYou (in last two weeks) about a Blockbuster that was still operating in ALASKA (lack of broadband to stream video = viable rental video business).

:)
There's a chain called Family Video that seems to be surviving in part because they own their own physical lots of land, so no issues with leases, etc.
