2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

STADIUM EVENTS AGAIN.  Boy these things sure seem common all of a sudden, you'd think the price would DROP, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO this one is at over $100,000 dollars with almost a day still left!!!  WTFOMFG!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110499541029

Are these people playing a joke?  You think someone is really going to pay that.

You give me to much credit, I only have 49 in the basement.
Yup, cause everyone in Vegas has a basement hahaha.

Interesting, I thought that the Korg DS-10 was Korgs first foray into console gaming.
#105
Here we go again...  LOL.
#106
I wouldn't mind my Genesis being signed by Tom Kalinske.

Well hope the problem was fixed.  I never noticed it but I usually use Firefox.  Lately I've been trying out Chrome, and I think it's a great browser.  I love the bookmark toolbar.  Also, it has not had a single error or issue yet.  And I just looked at how much memory it's using..   a paltry 29,834k.  What is that, 29MB?  I'm sure there are browsers that use even less, but Chrome has a lot of really nice features I think.  I have not gone back to Firefox since I loaded up Chrome.  I'm diggin' it.

Quote from: nat on 02/17/2010, 03:37 PMWhy? Why would you try and persuade him not to open those games?
No reason, no reason at all.
#109
Like mentioned before me, I think it's actually a pretty good game, but there are SOOO many other shooters that are better and much cheaper.
#110
K.C Munchkin was a great game.

I voted on the Tron theme.  Really anything would be good, even the pacman theme is fine to me.
#111
I tried to persuade him not to open Hero Tonma and Y's I&II but I was not there to hold him back this time.   :-({|=

Still a damn good deal, those games alone are worth that price combined.

She ended up over at Atari Age, and they walked her through the process to make sure no one ripped her (side sell, etc etc), and they also informed her to take better pics of Stadium Events to maximize how much she made.

She mentioned that she found them in either a garage sale, estate sale, or thrift store, cause she frequents those places often.  She's got almost three sheds full of stuff to sell on Ebay.  She said she remembers paying $2.00 for that Stadium Events.

Sweet, thanks for hookin' up the community Roy.  That's pretty cool of you.  The Turbo cleaned up real nice didn't it.  It looks like crap in those pics.  The guy failed to mention that the back cover doesnt snap into place which really sucks but oh well.  Anyone have an extra cover laying around?

Roy called me up and asked if I wanted first dibs on it, I said I'd check it out, when I had it in my hands I couldn't put it down.  I'm sure he'd have hooked anyone here up with it if I passed on it.  See Mr. Big Shot Vegas is not such a bad guy after all..  haha.

What about anticipation?  I love that game.

I messed with Etrian Odyssey 2 for the DS for like 5 minutes yesterday, didnt seem that great, maybe I have to play it some more
#118
I love Strider dearly, but the arcade/genesis version is the only good one they ever made.
#119
I used to keep games just so that my total number of games was as high as possible.  But I eventually weeded out all the junk and kept only the good stuff.  Quality over quantity in my collection!  I need to weed through them again soon.
#120
Shinobi would smoke Hiryu is a New York second.

As a game, Strider is good, but Shinobi has multiple games that rock.
#121
Oh yeah - and you all can go fuck your mothers.   :P

I would say I am gamer mostly, some collector.  But probably 80 percent gamer.  I have 20+ sealed 3DO games I am about to tear into soon!  Fuck it, I don't care.  Games are to be played.  Not ashamed of the 1000's of ROMS and burned games that I have, fuck it.  Done paying a ton of money for everything.  Free stuff is good, like that free XBOX 360 I got yesterday, and fixed today (RROD).  Fuck it.  I don't give a fuck.  I'd open a sealed Magical Chase just to piss everyone off, then I'd shit on it and proceed to fire up the rom on my laptop (which I do frequently).  I don't give a shit flying fuck.

Yah FL is pretty cool, I downloaded the demo and it ran extremely slow on my old laptop.  I need to install it onto the desktop and see how it runs.

I have to figure out a way to do that.  Somehow I need to input the DS into the computer to get a good recording so that I can convert it into MP3, then upload to youtube, I guess.  I was up late last night tweaking a song and it came out pretty cool I think.  I also have a keyboard with CPU input, midi, etc etc.  It's just in storage with everything else I own.  I have found a way to input the DS into the keyboard and capture sounds/tunes/samples to be able to assign the DS-10 tunes to a key on the keyboard.  Works pretty well.  I eventually would like to use a combination of the DS-10, and the keyboard to come up with some tunes.  I have not tried messing around much yet with FL Studio, but would like to get into that a bit as well, seems very powerful.

Tits, how are you able to get yours onto youtube and sound ok?

OK polls are closed!  Thanks to all who participated.  Here are the results and my thesis.

Three way tie for first place goes to:
Sega Genesis, SNES, and NES.  Not suprised that the NES is tied for first.  Not really suprised for the SNES and the Genesis here either.  These are typically the three consoles that we all grew up with (any of us 25-35 years old generally, except for old man Windy )

Second goes to:
Sega Saturn.  I am guessing this is because of the strong import selection and excellent games, not to mention it's probably the most powerful 2D system ever.

Third place goes to:
Sega Dreamcast.  Again, it's a system with an excellent import selection, and it has NEC inside which is ALWAYS a bonus.  For a while in the polls the Dreamcast was in first place.

Sega dominates.  They account for 43.10 percent of the total votes.  This is actually surprising as I would have assumed that Nintendo would win it all.  But in all reality, other than the NES and SNES all of the other nintendo consoles are really just not popular (except the Wii - but not in this poll)

Nintendo had a strong showing of support at 28 percent of all votes.

All other consoles came in at 28.9 percent of the votes.

Consoles with strong support but not making the top three include the PS1/2/3, Neo Geo, and Sega Master System.

Suprises.  The Wii did not have a single vote.  XBOX/360 only had 2.  And there were 3 votes for the mysterious "other" consoles.

No support came in for the N64, Game Cube, Wii, Jag, FM Towns, Amiga, Colecovision, Fairchild, APF-1000, RCA Studio II, and CD-i.  Not really suprised here, except for the Wii, and maybe the Jaguar.

My reasoning for the domination of Sega here over Nintendo is that we are all Turbografx/PC Engine fans.  That by itself tells me that we are all subconciously into the "underdog" or alternative consoles.  Sega has always kind of been the underdog out there similar to the NEC consoles.  Also, Sega has a better number of consoles that are actually decent, unlike Nintendo (cough cough N64).

Does anyone else have any opinions on this poll?

Nice, I like the second try much better.  How did you duplicate the coin and jumping sounds so well?  I wish sometimes there were a way to import sounds into the DS-10.  I am currently running two DS-10's.  When two DS's go into synch it's pretty sweet.  It seems that sometimes when I make a song it's pretty good, and sometimes it sucks.  I do wish the sections could be a bit longer though, that's my main gripe.  Also, I've found that it's best to make the music wearing head phones or line out to a stereo, because if you go by how it sounds like on the DS speakers it will sound like crap on a real stereo.  Another thing I wish is if you could transfer songs to and from the DS onto your computer so that you can work on songs with people via the internet.  Can't wait for the DS-10+ to come out.  Maybe I can find a copy of it to download onto the R4.

I think he meant to reply to another thread.  I've seen that happen before.

I noticed my Dreamcast loses it's memory very often.  Even if it's just been one month of not using it, I always have to reset the clock on it, kind of a pain in the butt.  I have never had this problem with anything else, hell even my Legend Of Zelda save game sticks around for years and years without even being used.

My Duo -R never had an issue losing power, and there was a good 6 months there where it was not even used once.
#135
Duplos are bigger than Legos, and just as cheap, so you can get more plastic for your money.
#136
Sounds like a great game, especially since I absolutely love Thunder Force, Gate, and Lord!  Do you have any sort of graphics/programming portfolio to share with us so that we know this is something you are capable of?  Not trying to be rude or anything, just been a lot of games that were supposed to be done, then didn't go anywhere.
#137
The Playdia and Pippen are not on the list.  It was hard coming up with what I already did on the list LOL.  You'll just have to vote for those in OTHERS.

Anyone that votes in OTHERS, it would be nice if you stated what the other console is that you are voting for, just for everyone's information.

Looks like Sega is running away with this.  I'm actually a bit suprised by this with all the Sega slamming that goes on around here.
#138
Hey Ark, what would it cost to ship in just a CD mailer?  No tracking, confirmation, signature, insurance, etc etc.
#139
Insanity rocks.  Awesome game Ark!

Can't wait to see more from you.
#140
Hmmm someone voted "Others not on this list", I wonder what console that may have been?  Maybe the C64?  I didn't include the C64 and TI because I figured they were more like CPUS than consoles.  Same with the PC.

ATI did the Gamecube, you might be thinking of that.

I voted SMS, Mega Drive, Saturn and PlayStation. I had a hard time choosing between the Saturn and Dremcast though. I wish I could change my vote now as I just remembered all the great times I had playing PSO.

I could have swore that I allowed people to change their votes, because I knew that there could be some confusion with so many options, but maybe I didn't.

Yeah, the 6 buttons look a bit crazy positioned like that, but I'm sure you could get used to it real quick.  The D-pad he said actually worked pretty good..  so I dunno..  it seems cheap enough to check it out.  And the screen looks real nice, I'm tired of the blurry Nomad screen and killing batteries in like 2 hours.
#144
Dammit, didn't realize I could vote for another until it was too late.

Well, it was easy, SEGA!!

If I had the chance to vote again, I'd add SNK as well.
#145
Hahaha, yeah totally, that's what the OTHERS vote is for anyways.  Surprised to see the Dreamcast tied for first right now with the NES.  Not surprised the NES is tied for first.  Interested in seeing how this all pans out.
#146
Damn, I think I might just sell the Nomad and get me one of these!

Well I figured since the PS1, PS2, and PS3 are all backwards compatible, I'd just add them all as one, same as I did with the Xbox and 360.

Dammit, I knew I forgot something, I added the Studio II and CD-i to the list.

It's obvious that everyone here probably likes their PC Engine or Turbo Grafx more than anything else.  But let's see a vote on what is your NEXT 4 favorite consoles of all time.  If one of the votes happens to be your FAVORITE of all time, and it's NOT an NEC console, mention it!

One of my votes was the Sega Genesis/CD/32X/CDX - which happens to be my favorite console of all time.

Other 3 votes were the NES, Playstation 1/2/3, and the 3DO.
