I bought this on release when I was in high school. My memory is foggy but I am 90% sure I finished the game back then. But after reading the article on HG101, I doubt it. [I've drank since then, hence the fog] I recently played through the original Exile and had an amazing time. So, naturally I decided to keep the ball rolling and dive right into E2.

What I was greeted with was an immensely difficult, frustrating game that honestly felt like a step backwards. What gives?!

No maps, you have to track through the sidescroll levels to travel between cities. [if it ain't broke?], also noticed that it seems 1 in 3 healing tonics actually poison me. "that tonic tasted funny"

More than one [so far] of Working Designs topical jokes thrown in for no damn reason.

WHAT HAPPENED?!

Is the Japanese version easier? Did WD actually mess with the game code and change up the game? Is there a story behind this game's localization?

update: I read the HG101 article on this game I just found that answers all:

Quote from: Liquid Snake on 11/19/2013, 06:16 PMstill remember when Sylphia SCD was selling at $90..................
Reminds me of when Ketsui kits were $200 -sigh-

I played a fair amount of Exile [which I am playing through again] and Dragon Egg. I was a little disappointed in Dragon Egg.

awesome read, congrats on getting it all set up! I got a US Duo from a friend and sold my TGCD stup w/sys card 3.0 to retrogames way back when for like $140. Always regretted that move.

Quote from: BlueBMW on 11/12/2013, 07:30 AMA good shooter IMO... when you get it be sure to search for the thread on the hard rock remix tracks someone made for it.  You rip the original and replace the audio tracks and burn.  Its an excellent alternative soundtrack for it.
no kidding?! That sounds awesome! I might do that with a burn, I'm just jones'in for a real version.

Full size replica!

Full Moon does their yearly Halloween sale where everything is deeply discounted. Couldn't resist.

Anyone else here a full moon fan?

+1 for thanking Paul. I look at the site at an almost daily basis. Love it.
#261
very impressive to see all the scrolling and colors together! Could be amazing. I think a super polished, homebrew shmup for SGX would be rad as hell.
#262
it's a helluva drug

I definitely preferred the sound, even over SNES.

I also love this idea.

sidenote, in terms of a professional run of these:

I think if the disk gets pressed professionally, then we can all just swap the disk in our Golden Axes.
#267
I want to throw my entire wallet at this!!!
#268
errors in printing and cutting are not uncommon. especially if they used cheaper vendors.
#269
not a fan of MC...it feels like a demo off an Ultra Box disk or something. No cutscenes...no character. The cover is misleading.

I have to bump this, as I was considering dropping cash on this game and in my searches came across this thread...which is amazing. Sidenote: who here has this game? I love mahjong and know how to play. I also do not fap to mahjong games....often

I know the games express games are supposed to be on the "budget" side? I'm wondering if I will be disappointed in this one. How does it compare to saw a Mahjong Sword?

Quote from: guest on 07/10/2013, 10:00 AMWhat's it going for on ebay nowadays?  When I got mine about three years ago, a few sold in the ~$150 range.
Probably closer to $200 these days I think. I missed one recently on ebay for $180 BIN though

Quote from: Bernie on 07/09/2013, 07:53 PMYeah... good luck with that....

Complete, no OBI. Map/poster thingy and manual are in good shape. Map/poster has some wear.

I accidentally bought two copies of this one.  Great game, btw. Slowly making my way through it with the FAQ.

I think I paid $40+ shipped for it. Anyone here want it for $25 shipped in the US?

Quote from: m1savage on 01/29/2013, 09:53 PMNot selling mine but yeah, it's one of the trickier ones to find cheaply. It plays quite a bit differently than most of the other Nichibitsu mahjong games but other than the topless rock, paper, scissors parts and a very tiny bit of video there's not much to it. Hold out till you find it at a bargain price.
will do. thanks! Yeah, it's proving very difficult to snag.

Quote from: guest on 01/29/2013, 11:57 AMI really want that GnG. Sadly, my money must go elsewhere these days.
I really want 1941, but that's eBay prices.  And I'd have to hibernate to afford it right now.  Gotta get my overdraft down.
not sure I've ever seen one on ebay under $200 shipped
#293
bump
#294
bump. games still available
#295
total for all remaining games is $400 shipped.

TODAY ONLY [1/9/13]
Take all of them [Battle Ace is gone] for $300 shipped in the US

If these don't sell today, I'm putting them in my nerd collection vault until they get hyped on the forums and everyone runs to ebay trying to get them again.
