Quote from: Bernie on 12/11/2015, 06:55 PMStrange, I had one guys that got hung up in Australia for a while, but he finally got em.  The tracking just stalled and stopped updating.

I've been talking with USPS post office employees lately as I've had a lot of packages coming and going using their services. When I asked them about many of my packages being rather delayed, and several of them having issues with the tracking (no updates, never scanned in, etc), they said it's unfortunately just the holiday rush. They said that they are at 5x usual volume due to the Christmas holiday. Apparently, some employees aren't routinely scanning packages, as this saves them a lot of time and allows them to help partially offset the overload.

So, although I don't recall having issues like this in previous years with USPS, apparently it's the norm this year? All my packages eventually did arrive, even though some of them never had a single tracking update.

Just some food for thought.

Quote from: martinine on 12/07/2015, 10:46 PMMine are also in today! Everything works perfectly! So much fun playing through a few minutes each. Suddenly an hour had gone by and it felt like 5 minutes! I especially love the screeches Godzilla makes at any key press. Nice work Hudson.

Anyway, thanks again to Bernie, BlueBMW, and friends. It would have certainly been nearly impossible for me to ascertain all the rare to "holy grail eBay monsters" otherwise.

Best community on the web.
I second this :) I really can't stress this enough - A HUGE thank you to Bernie, BlueBMW, and everyone else who is making this possible! I'm having a blast playing these games.

Due to the high prices they fetch on eBay, I could never justify purchasing any of these titles. So, this is literally the FIRST time I'm playing all of these games. Last weekend I sat down to test out Rondo of Blood...and found myself glued to my TV until I got 100%. Playing my Duo R just became 20X as awesome thanks to you guys. To be able to sit down and play so many legendary games that I've wanted to for so many years now is simply incredible. You guys are definitely making this the best Christmas ever :) I'm in NEC heaven!

Best community on the web, indeed!

(Got my Batch 2 games yesterday. Thank you!!)

Forgot I already made an account on here, think I didn't really stay active because of needing to disclose my blood type and first grade crush just to post messages.
Zebular - I'm confused why you quoted me there. I'm afraid I don't understand :)

I'm not on the forums much these days, but I just saw this thread and wanted to say a big PROPS to you guys for doing such a service for the community! It's awesome to see such good will. Great work!

Quote from: Red Ghost on 06/08/2012, 07:37 PMI'm trying to determine something NEC to create that would actually get some attention/that lots of fans would like. Bonk immediately comes to mind...anybody have any thoughts?
The robot from Keith Courage would be pretty cool, but only NEC fans would probably know who it is.

Bomberman?

Howabout an anthropomorphic PC Engine?
Hmm... the robot from Keith Courage would be fun, but as you said I think a lot of people wouldn't get it. Bomberman would be cool, but a lot of people have already done that and done it well.

A PC Engine system would be doable, but a little more comedic than what I think I'd like.

Here are my thoughts at the moment - popular games that I love that I haven't seen good recreations of:

- Bonk
- Lords of Thunder
- Splatterhouse

Thoughts?

Thanks for the compliments everyone  :D I've put a lot of hours of work into these, so I'm happy to see that others appreciate them!

To answer some of the questions:

Quote from: BlueBMW on 06/07/2012, 11:41 PMThats some awesome work man!  Ive always kind of wanted a sweet Megaman X suit if nothing else just for Halloween parties.  If you ever would consider making one... :D
Given the time and money, I can make pretty much anything. PM me if you're serious.

Quote from: guest on 06/08/2012, 12:21 AMI want a Bayou Billy outfit.

Thats like, 4$ at a thrift store.
I actually laughed out loud at that. A Bayou Billy outfit would be awesome. I better see some photos of you next Halloween as BB or I'll be disappointed.

Quote from: PCEngineHell on 06/08/2012, 07:34 AMWhy does the Metroid have 3 delicious meatballs inside it?
Oh they're delicious I assure you... As long as you like to eat polymer clay that is. For whatever reason Metroids always have three of those little brains in there, so that's how many I made.

Oh they'll be here! It will be a few days still as I have to get the images from one of the other guys on the team. I'll post them here as soon as I can.

So lately I've been taking a break from working on video game systems, to work on video game themed props and costumes for Youtube videos. Currently I've been dealing with some Metroid props and thought I'd share a few teaser photos. Let me know what you all think!

- I made the helmet, did all the LED lighting, repainted parts of the suit, created the Metroid hatchling, and created the Metroid egg. To see all my projects, updates, and more info, please check out my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Platinumfungi

- A very talented Cosplayer named Kelly Johnson created the Power Suit (sans helmet and LED lighting). She's the one wearing the suit.

- This is all being created for a short Youtube fan video by the group "mikeNgary": https://www.youtube.com/user/mikengar...e=results_m...

- When the video is released, I'll post again with an update  8)

Looking up rates right now... TMNT II: The Arcade Game sealed sold for $100, and TMNT III: The Manhattan Project sealed sold for $140. Still looking for TMNT the original.

Last time I checked that seemed to be an accurate value, but perhaps it's gone down? If you guys have info, let me know. As I stated at the top of my post if you feel any of the prices are way off just let me know! Thanks.

EDIT: Just found TMNT the original factory sealed. Sold on January 15th for $99. So looks like it's accurate. TMNT Tournament Fighters sealed sold for $870!! Wow

I'm slowly but surely selling off a large portion of my gaming collection. I'll be updating this a lot with more games, so be sure to check back in from time to time. Almost all of the items have large photos that can be viewed by clicking the listed links.

* Shipping is not included in the price. It will be actual cost by whatever method you request.
* If you feel any of my prices are way off just let me know  :D
* Minimum sale of $5 otherwise it's not worth my time/trip to the post office.
* I WILL ship International  8)

TRON - Yes indeed. I have a link in my sig, but for convenience here ya go - http://gametz.com/user/platinumfungi.html Just scroll down a bit to start seeing my work. FYI the page is a bit outdated so just ask me about anything you're interested in  8)

Arkhan - There do seem to be an awfully lot of dumb comments and things happen over there.
#21
Terminarcade - Ha! I didn't realize you were here either Termina. That's crazy. I've been here since the beginning of 2007  :D I usually just hit up the mod/repair forums. Thanks for the sub! More mods to come!

Arkhan - Oh I understand. None taken! I really don't like the "redesign" they made awhile back myself. But, it's great publicity.

MotherGunner - I know, right? And the funny thing is they're all incorrect. NO ONE ever said anything about having used Avid Video Editor to make the video. Some guy just jumped the gun and assumed that, I guess because the media team is named Avid Productions 479.
#22
Thanks for all the compliments and views everyone  :D As of this morning, it's on Kotaku!!  http://kotaku.com/5876717/this-zelda-nes-mod-is-magical

I've been debating about something along those lines for awhile myself. Something that's very custom that adds to, not detracts from, the look and feel of the system. It would have to be done carefully as many people would immediately hate ANY change to the classic system...
#24
Necromancer - Thanks man! I'm trying.

TheClash603 - Thank you! If you're ever working on a custom project and want to bump our heads together for brainstorming solutions let me know. As per the paints, the paint job was performed by the amazing "Jayrod2" aka "Custom NES Guy". Look up "jayrod2" on youtube and you'll find him. He has stated this - "I use automotive basecoat clearcoat, usually PPG brand. Its the same exact paint I paint cars with.", but other than that you'd need to contact him and ask for more details.
#25
MotherGunner - Yeah, I unfortunately don't get on the forums as much as I'd like these days. I hop in for a few minutes, usually check out what's new in the Mod/Repair Forum, and that's about it. Life's been really busy for awhile now, but I'm trying to be around a little more than I have. If you guys have any charts or anything you'd like made let me know and I'll try to help out  :D I hope everything is going well for you too, thanks!

TR0N - Thanks man! I will.

BlueBMW - Ha ha, yeah that Skies of Arcadia was fun. If you're ever interested in a custom piece let me know

We really need to make more of these useful topics into stickies, or create some master merged stickies. There's way too much excellent info getting buried in the depths of this thread.

I've messaged Aaron twice over the past few weeks about this matter but haven't received any reply, nor seen any new stickies  :-k

Keith Courage - Nice work on that LED mod! Very stock looking  :D As per the region LED mod question, BlueBMW said it word for word -  that's the exact same method that I came up with awhile back for region modding mine. Works like a champ  8)

Just FYI, I'm not around the forums nearly as much as I used to be, but if any of you guys need anything just PM me and I'll reply

Yep. Just look for "heat shrink tubing" and you'll find what you're looking for. It comes in a variety of sizes depending on your needs  :D

I just wanted to request two topics be made "sticky" over in the Repair/Mod forum. Several people have requested on both of these, so I thought I'd post the request here:

Hey! Credit where credit is due! :P  And by keeping the same format across all systems, it makes it easier to reference.
Agreed! This needs to be a sticky as well. I'm going to try and go find where I put in requests in the past...

EDIT: Ok, just found the old "Sticky request" thread over in the "Comments and Suggestions" forums and requested both this topic and the other old TGCD repair topic I made be made "sticky"

Yep. Batteries were the only problem. I use rechargeable ones all the time and never had a problem till now - I dug out some that I hadn't used in ages...and apparently they were just almost dead/not holding a charge.

As far as I knew the screen went dark, not light, when the batteries were almost dead. I guess I've never used batteries that were almost dead. Good to know! Due to all the others issues with this system, (read frustration) I just assumed it had to be some additional time consuming complication. Glad it wasn't

Thanks for all the help everyone  I appreciate it. I'll change the topic title to reflect the result.
#41
Well after testing with my new AC adapter it's working just fine... So...yay I guess. I'm still wondering what was going on though.

Tomorrow I'm going to test it further with some batteries that I'm charging up to see if the screen is still washed out. I'll update at that point.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really appreciate the help

Charlie - I couldn't actually tell if it was working or not. Once I hooked it up with this new adapter it's working just fine though...

EDIT: I did hook up another screen as you all suggested too  8)
#42
Quote from: Duo_R on 03/10/2011, 11:01 AMDid you try another screen?
Unfortunately the only other unit I have here at the moment is faulty as well. I just tried hooking the screen from it to this unit I'm currently working on, and now all my batteries are about shot so the screen is so dark I can't really tell if the brightness dial is working  #-o

Ok, me thinks I shall wait till I get the AC adapter (hopefully on Monday) to proceed further on this.

Thanks for the quick reply guys! I'll update this just as soon as I can test with the AC adapter.

Good work! What monitor are you using there?

Quote from: Keith Courage on 03/10/2011, 10:37 AMDid the one you have break?  Or did you never have one to begin with?
Never had one :( Just found one on eBay though for a fair enough price, so I guess I'll delete this.

What was your thought though? Repair? Something else?

Found what I was looking for :) Thanks!
#46
Thanks for the fast reply Grahf  :D I'll try your suggestions and see if anything changes. Interestingly enough, just having the unit sitting here powered on for maybe 5 minutes appears to be helping.

Ah, good call. When I said "all",  I just meant the 17 surface mount electrolytic caps, plus the one on the controller board. I have yet to ever go after the tiny smd ceramic ones...I hope I don't have to  :?

I unfortunately don't have a wall wart for these, this further clarifies that I need one. Perhaps over to the marketplace I go!

Update -Turns out it was just dying batteries   Thanks again for the help everyone!
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So I'm working on resurrecting a poor Turbo Express that was D.O.A. The fuse was blown, and it looks like someone was doing a small amount of tinkering around at some point - there was a massive solder blob that bridged some components, but luckily the traces connected those particular components anyway, so hopefully that didn't affect much.

Once the unit decided to boot up again, the screen was really washed out/way too bright/mostly white. No biggie, just the caps I thought. Unfortunately even after replacing all 17 of the standard surface mount electrolytic caps, the screen is still washed out/way too bright/mostly white. If I tilt the top of the unit towards me, I can see the screen more clearly, but that's a major pain to have to do.

The brightness pot seems to affects the screen just a little, but hardly anything at all compared to what it should. I tested the pot, and it's good. All solder connections look good to.

Seems like whatever this screen has going on wasn't affected by installing all new caps  :-k

Anyone ever run across this issue, or have any ideas? My brain is pretty tired, so I thought I'd recruit more

Thanks for any thoughts!
