2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Awesome!

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 03/14/2011, 07:39 PMHere's the thing:  Nuclear reactors MIGHT melt down in a very-worst-case scenario.  However with solar energy, batteries always MUST be replaced and disposing of batteries does not bode well for the environment.  It's like the compact fluorescent light bulb.  Uses less energy, yes, but causes way more environmental damage when you throw them away because they contain mercury.  Now CFLs have a tiny little thing written on the box that says "please recycle".  How many people are going to do that?  Not very many when you discover what a pain it is to do it.  Solar isn't the way to go. You shouldn't need to supplement it with ANYTHING no matter where you live.
Sorta off topic.. but I have worked in the sign industry for well over 12 years. We have been thowing out our fluorecent bulbs(lamps) in the garbage for ever. Some of the bigger companies that I've worked for did a lot of re-lamps and we had days were we had 100+ lamps we smashed and threw in our dumpsters. They did have a place to recycle them(for many years) but we would have to pay a company to dispose of them.  SO..... they all end up in landfills. I assume the same will happen with all these consumers buying CFL's. 90% will go in the trash. I don't have CFL's in my house for that reason.. I switched them all to Halogen.

That manual on there has been listed for at least a year or more at that price..
Stupid price. No one is ever gonna buy it. I wonder how much they charge him for the listing.

The only reason that Magical Chase goes for more than $30 is because of rich clowns paying whatever they find a game for first, while quickly piecing together an instant collection that will never be played. The game went for years at $100 or less and then skyrocketed to ridiculous prices within a single year. Around the same time that sellers began to manipulate the market. People were quickly bidding up (or manipulating communities for the game) and then immediately flipping the game. Like the asshole who paid $13000 for an NES game and then put it back up for $40,000 minimum bid and a Buy-It-Now of $500,000. It's no longer a proper 'supply and demand' situation. It's now people making money off of nothing like the stock market.

It's ruined things for Turbo fans who actually appreciate the games.
Point understood.
Like as if all the copies of MC suddenly became $2500 from now on when they were for sale.. eventually someone would pay for it, again and again.. and it would be the Norm. (just driving the price even higher). We ourselves are driving the price up.

$200 would be considered gouging for Magical Chase. It's the poster child for over-inflation.
I'm basing my numbers on the average "complete" copy of MC goes on ebay - gouge. I've been watching for a long time.. Loose is about 500-600, with manual is 650-850 and with box.. 1500-1800.

So, I'll give you guys an interesting update on this purchase. The buyer sent the game to VGA grading ( http://www.vggrader.com ) then put the game back up on ebay for the absolutely ridiculous price of $500,000.000 (buy it now)

Here take a look.. Hopefully he will never get his 23k$ back he invested on the game in the first place.

Quote from: kid_rondeau on 03/03/2011, 05:46 PMOh, I remember this thing...
The guy who was selling it originally (maybe the same guy now, I don't know) used to put a long backstory on why it was so rare....basically, he said that in Japan there was a limited edition of Darius that was being sold in certain game stores in very limited quantities. Then, if you were lucky enough to get a copy, you'd be entered into a raffle to win a super-rare, never-to-be-sold-in-stores game: Darius Alpha (or whatever it's called).

The game in the auction was ostensibly won in the ensuing raffle...that's why it says "Not for sale".

Of course, the story could be completely bogus.
I heard something along those lines as well, I don't follow this game but i think even for an expensive game he really marked it up.
Taken from a different site.

PC Engine Rare Games - Darius Alpha

One of the rarest PC Engine games is Darius Alpha, to obtain this game in Japan you had to purchase the HU Card version and the CD ROM version of Darius Plus and then use the coupons provided. You were then entered into a competition and the 1st 800 names pulled out of a hat won the game Darius Alpha. In addition, some copies were handed out by magazines such as PC Engine Gekken and Marakatsu as prizes.

I have played the game on an emulator and basicaly it's just ALL boss battles one after an other.. so.. Darius plus without the levels and just boss's. (it is hard though)

First time I ever played the tg was emulated on the computer like 10 years ago.

I've always dreamed of having the tg system but they never sold it near the small town I grew up in. I remember having a magazine article with showing a keyboard (protype) and trying to convince my parents to drive to a big city to buy it for me. Hah. never worked..(yeah mom, it's like a computer, it's got a keyboard, haha) =)

about 5 years ago I traded my old 55" tv to a game collector for a collection of systems and games..  one being the tg16 unit and 2 games, turbo express, and a coregrafx(no games) .(and whole wack of other gaming non nec stuff). After that point I was so excited to have one I started trying to collect all the hu cards and etc.   Fast forward to current time and I have 6 us cards left , 4 tg16's, multiple controllers, A tgcd unit, and lots of other stuff (rental cases, etc).

I like it.. someone put in a lot of time to make that.. but I can see a whole bunch of controllers missing from other years and systems

IMO they made WAYY too many GH games... Rockband had the right idea with just releasing more songs and having them compatable with the next version. only bought rockband 1 and the the disc for 2 (which never played)... now it sits in my closet beside my laserdisc player ,HD dvd player and other stuff I will not use for a long time.

If they don't help you out with a disc replacement.. You could take the disc to someone who has a "professional" resurfacing machine. (ie. blockbuster, friends, rental stores, etc). I have a friend with a $1500 machine and we tried scratching a blue ray hard  and all the scratches came out with a heavy/light clean.

I've only have had one scratched dvd and they replaced it no problem.

Hmm.. I think those are for the (wii) emulation of it I think.
I don't believe there is one for the tg16.?

Or am I wrong.

Raiden is awesome.. Played it all the time in the arcades back in the day..  Ghost pilots(Neo Geo) was also a slow scrolling also good game.

Okay.. I'm looking at the Jaguar team tap and the Vga extension cable.. and for some reason my vga extension cable is missing one pin. It still has the right layout.. but it's only got 14 pins. (do not know why). So.. when you go purchase your cable.. make shure it has 15 pins not just 14 like mine.

Okay.. just looked up the pinout on the controller... it is Pin 7 that it is missing.. which is 5V+ for the controller. SO.. therefore it would not work. You need the 15 pins.

Brutal Legend (360).     If you like metal music and Jack Black humour.... this game is for you... you will not regret it.

SOLD !!! for a Small price of $22,800.00 USD.

The cheapest thing on there video game related is a USED VMU for a dreamcast and it's still $40 and the batteries are dying.
#29
It's about TIME!!!!! F YA!!! bring the game on !

Dark Sector (360) - cool game.. 3rd person shooter with a twist. Thought the game was gonna be garbage (cuz i got it cheap), but it's a pretty good game.
#31
Only way I would pay $40k for a game if I had a few million in the bank. Then shure... what's 40k ?
.....  even though you could do some good with 40k instead of a sealed game.
#32
I wonder how much you could save by taking apart and cleaning.. . .

Talkin about killin cards.... I have always wondered if these "sleeves" we are putting our cards in are bad ?
Such as build up a static charge and fry the contacts on the cards?

Or am I being paranoid?  :-k
#34
One of my collector friends told me there is a guy near the east coast in canada who has an almost complete NES SEALED collection.. missing like 4 or 5. He already has stadium events.

That must be worth an insane amount of money. Even garbage games are worth $100+ sealed..(just because they are sealed... cart alone is worthless)

There is 677 Licenced games for the system. Insane. .. .
#36
I'm pretty shure when I die, my wife will sell my entire collection on ebay =(

Or she gives it to one of my collector friends... but I think she'd rather have the money. =)

So, in the end what's the point of collecting? :\

QuoteMan, Thexder doesn't get enough love.  I picked that up for the FC about a year ago and was like man this is pretty awesome!   I like the style.  There aren't too many games like it.  Its like a shooter/adventure hybrid.
They remade it for the ps3 it will be released soon
Take a look

Does anybody know if there is a "Digital Rot" with a Hu Card?
I have heard of flash drives dying (I have serval and have never experienced it). CD's last 50-100 years..
What about our aging Cards ?  Would be a shame if all our cards end up blank !!

What are your thoughts.?
#44
Amazing cinematography in these films you are making.

made me remember i still have a Neo Geo magazine poster from my childhood.
#45
I bet you there is only going to be like 6 DC games on that multi - game disc for 360.

There are WAYY more than 6 good dc games.. and besides it will just have the wrong feeling.. (plus wrong emulation)

Probably why I have 3 dc's , just incase one dies one of these years.

I have bought a few remake/ emulated games on 360, the best ported feel was Castlevania :Sotn. everything else had black bars around or just felt wrong.

TMNT is a Super hard game... Frustrating to hell.(don't know One person who has legit finshed it.. got to the dome.. that's it)

But the real question is .. did he actually play the game?

He should have played mario bro's which probably came with the system.
#47
Good side would be that I got 90% of my TG hu cards from ebay. (you already know the bad side).

Also that you can get rarer games in a hurry (and build your collection faster)... =)
