10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Mister Mosquito.  For that bath tub scene.

How do you guys stay notified when a new limited edition comes out?  I always find out to late and every one is sold out of their pre-orders.  Majora's Mask is on that comes to mind recently.  I know I want to pick up a Wii U when the new Zelda bundle comes out.  Looking for a feed or a service that will shoot me an email or something when it's available for pre-order.  Work blocks most gaming sites so something I don't have to check every day is a bonus!

This had some good reading for me when I was researching a while back:

I finally found the last US release Bust-A-Move game I needed.  Bust-A-Move 2 for Gameboy is mine after two years of searching.  Never thought this title would be the "rare" game that would keep from completing that series.
#5
Still hunting for a complete copy of this game.
#6
Haha while I did have that exact boxed copy of Descent for PC back in the day, I'm looking for Bust A Move 2 Arcade Edition (Puzzle Bobble) for the original Game Boy;)

IMG
#7
Looking for it complete with a decent box and manual.

Adding to my Puzzle Bobble collection.  Just 3 left to go for US releases and this game brings down my Japanese wish list to about 20.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere we goooooooooooooo

Today I discovered that they made Puzzle Bobble for the N-Gage.  So I had to add it to my Puzzle Bobble collection.  Maybe one day I'll find an N-Gage to play it on.

Went a little wild on ebay a few weeks back.  I'm still a few games away from my US Square collection, I probably shouldn't have started the Japanese collection...

And Megami Tensei just because.

Quote from: turboswimbz on 08/31/2013, 11:17 AMDamn I put that orginally but then thought nooooo, oh well.  WRx is better IMO anyway.
Yessir, you'll be cleaning brake dust off those wheels every other day for the rest of your life.  Love my WRX but I don't know if I would jump up to the STI for my daily driver.

I just beat Final Fantasy I on my PSP probably close to 25 years after I first played it.  I started up FF2 but I don't know if I have the patience to grind in the SaGa-style system.

Completed my first US set today.  Got the long awaited last and rarest game of the Virtual Boy library, Jack Bros.
IMG

Don't know if I'll ever find the super rare Japanese releases I don't have.  I'm torn about getting into any of the reproductions.

Oh man I need one.  I sealed up all my PS1 games in bags to sit on the shelf, would save some hassle.

Don't remember seeing this anywhere and figured I'd pass it along in case anyone happened to miss it.

Retroware.tv is running an indiegogo campaign [http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-video-game-years-help-keep-the-show-going] to fund the editing of their series "The Video Game Years" [http://retrowaretv.com/category/shows/the-video-game-years/] up to the year 1990.  If you haven't seen the series check it out.

They're looking for cash to speed up the editing process.  Less time between released episodes would be awesome.

Needs more puzzle bobble ;)

So I have Dark Souls and Demon's Soul which should I play first.  I'm a big JRPG fan and I've been trying to hit the few long play time games on this generation.  I've just about given up trying to find a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles to finish my Wii RPG wish list.

Quote from: Bernie on 06/10/2013, 11:08 PMI missed it.  What's the stand on used games and Internet connections?
No restrictions, no need to be online, no need to authenticate to play.

That $399 price tag just made someone in MS crap the bed.
#22
I'm never a fan of not owning what you bought.  I do get on the gamestop hate wagon all the time, but mostly because of the pre-order spiel and opening sealed games and then selling them as new.

Part of me longs for the day of Funcoland...If only I'd had the disposable income then I could have walked away with so much and a 10% employee discount.

Standing ovation for used games and offline play

This is the best opportunity Sony has had in years to get back market share on Xbox if they don't screw it up.

Quote from: munchiaz on 05/11/2013, 10:34 PMBeen playing alot of Pandora's tower on the Wii. About 17 hours in so far. Pretty cool blend of adventure RPG/dating sim. Story is pretty interesting as well. I do hate the fixed camera angle though
That's on my list, after owning a Wii for years I finally got more than Zelda games for it.  About halfway through Arc Rise Fantasia right now.  Pretty good game, but the best feature is the super fast load times so grinding WP is sooo easy when you're in and out of a battle in seconds.

Quote from: wavering on 06/02/2013, 07:55 PMThrift store and online purchases for the week.  Crossed another working designs title off my list.

Jeff since you're the only dude I know who's both a Sega fanboy and a Bronie you have first dibs for trade ;)
I'm going way out on a limb here, but I'm guessing that Arc the Lad WASN'T a thrift store find.
Is everything in there?
Yea that was from ebay, scored a super low BIN and lucked out with it being totally complete!

Quote from: BlueBMW on 06/01/2013, 05:26 PMGot in a box/manual set for the Faceball VB cart, and also picked up Space Pinball for VB.

All three VB games together!
Can you dig up a boxed copy of Jack Bros (US) and maybe a Virtual Lab (JP) while you're on a roll?

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 05/27/2013, 07:30 PMThe PS1 didn't get hated at all. It got loved and adored. It defeated the Saturn in every market. But I agree it is nice to have even though I only have 18 games for it right now.
I loved the PS1.  I've been going back and playing a few old games on my PSP lately.  Suikoden, Symphony of the Night, Chrono Cross.  They worst thing about it is that polygons were all the rage and new technology and didn't hold up very well to the years.  Put in FF7 and you can count how many polygons make up Cloud.

Went to go drop some stuff off at Goodwill and hit 3 thrift stores this morning and all had more than sports titles which is pretty rare in this area.

Some more PS2 RPGs and my final SquareSoft PS2 game, now its on to complete PS1 SquareSoft games.

Quote from: Deletion on 05/05/2013, 12:43 AMWhat type of paper do you use for the cover art?
I used straight up legal paper that i "borrowed" from work on a color laserjet.  The plastic sleeve on the case gives it enough gloss for me.

You can pick up the cases here: http://www.mediashelving.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=USCG and I snagged all the covers here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/

There's also some DS cases out there you can use for GB, GBA, DS and VB games.

Has anyone had success creating their own covers from scans?  I have a handful of games that the cover project doesn't have up on their site.

I listen to my iPad all day long at work, and its usually mix between 90's punk and video game soundtracks.

Game music is awesome because it introduces you to things you wouldn't ever be exposed to otherwise.  I discovered Shibuy-kei because of Katamari Damacy.  That led to Fantastic Plastic Machine and Pizzicato Five.  If you like Jazz and Electronica check it out.

Not so much composers but some more good modern songs from OSTs and Piano Collections.

Katamari Damacy - Cherry Blossom Color Season
Katamari Damacy - Lonely Rolling Star

NeiR - Song of the Ancients (Piano)
NeiR - Hills of the Radiant Wind (OST)

Ni No Kuni - Arie Recollection

And you can't do anything without music from FF.
Final Fantasy V - My home, sweet home (Piano)
Final Fantasy X - To Zanarkand (Live Orchestral)

Besides the obvious Nobuo Uematsu, I don't know if many can beat Yasunori Mitsuda.  The Chrono Cross soundtrack stands up as one of the best to this day.

Radical Dreamers - Chrono Cross OST
Dream of the Shore Near a Distant World - Chrono Cross OST

Are there any other material differences from the NES release?
There is some slow screen scrolling but this is the beauty of Final Fantasy MSX:

Who needs money to buy bread and milk when you can just look at the box and be filled with joy?
