I've only played the PCE port, are the other ones any better? I admit, I did like the weapon customizing though.

there is only a pce version of TCII. TC1 is arcade and FC/NES only.

Hmm, what game am I thinking of then? :o

I'll have to look through lists to see because I have played it on a emulator before a few times. I know it's a Japanese HuCard game.

Armed F !!!! :)

That's got to be it Keranu. Armed F has the same concept as Terra Cresta, to attatch of parts to ship to increase firepower, because both games were created by Nichibutsu.  But Armed F on the PCE was not so great, really horrible IMO.

Keranu

Aha! I figured it all out now :D ! The game I was thinking of on PCE was Terra Cresta II! You see, I thought there was a Terra Cresta on PCE and a Terra Cresta II on PCE CD, but I confused this with IMAGE FIGHT! There is the first Image Fight on PCE and Image Fight II on PCE CD, which I haven't played. Anyways after playing Terra Cresta II, that game is actually better than I thought! The weapon customizing is really neat and the music is great! After playing Image Fight on PCE again though, that game ain't so good :) . Don't know how I mixed these games up really, but I did. Also I remember the title name "Armed F" really well, but I always get it confused with a couple other PCE shooters; I seem to remember like that game though...

Knowing you, you probably liked it a lot - the rest of us think it's crap :)

I have Image Fight II at least i can see why it's shumps fans least favorite shooter.

If you thought, Rayxanber II was bad well i'll just say, Image Fight II is just as diffcult.

Still it was worth while to get for myself any ways.

I think a list of good rare games would be much easier to deal with.  Then we could assume anything else is bad. :)

I mean, look at the ones that are good:  DracX (not exactly rare), and ... uh...  yeah.  Ok, throw Magical Chase in there and maybe Sapphire (although I think it's way overpriced).  What's left?

Other rarities:
The TV Show:  Controls are kinda stiff in this game.  I might have to try it out again since it's been a while.

Fausette Amour:  Decent platformer, but nothing spectacular.

Akiyama Jin Math Mystery:  Rare because it was one of the last releases.  It was also only sold in book stores... just like Circus Lido.

1941:  one of the few SGX games and a decent port.  Probably the only port of 1941 to a console.

Bazaaru de Gozaaru:  Interesting little game.  It's kinda like "incredible machines" game where you setup the board in order to guide the monkey to the goal.  From the pics it looks like a cute platformer, but it's actually a puzzle game.

I'm sure there's more out there, but those are the only ones that come to mind right now.

ParanoiaDragon

Bazaaru de Gozaaru, sheesh, I've been wanting to check that game out for awhile, it's so rare, I can't even find an iso.....not that we're supposed to be talking about that, but, that's one game that keeps eluding me. :P

Bazaru De Gozaru is just real fun, tho it's a puzzle game. For those of you who'd like to try this game, an ISO has just been released this week on Necstasy, the French pc engine community forum.
I will give you the rapidshare as soon as the provider of the dump has given me the authorization to do so.

What about Renny Blaster?  I've seen a few copies pop up now and again- usually at $300 or more.  Never played it, but from everything I've found on the net it's supposed to be an action platformer in the vein of Drac X(at least stylewise)-  I can't find any feedback on if it's actually any good though.  Anyone played it?

Yeah, this is another game that I really want to play.

Rumor has it that it is a mediocre-at-best platformer that tries too hard to be like Dracula X.

However, given the fact that relatively few folks have played it, and of those that did, no one has provided a nice review with screenshots...

Well, I reserve judgement until I actually play it. Since there are not many games in that genre, it doesn't have much competition. If it is as good as Valis II I'd be delighted. And I don't think anyone would call Valis II (the actual gameplay) anything more than an average platformer. Now, I love Valis II...

However, if Renny Blaster turns out to be more akin to Iga Ninden Gaou... well, I won't be as excited. Iga Ninden Gaou lacks some essential aspect that all good platformers have. Even Valis II is oozing with better platforming fun than Iga Ninden Gaou.

I should do a proper review of Iga Ninden Gaou. A long time ago I wrote a  mini-review on these forums. I think.

I just played this game for the first time and I can tell you it's tooooo easy.
I finished it even before I had figured out I was at the last stage. Very disappointing.
The graphics are mediocre and not much happens during the game. The bosses are way too easy.
Not worth the price.
The only good point about this game are the cutscenes that have very nice pictures, tho they are static. (for those of you who like comic books, kinda reminded me of Frank Miller or even Bill Sinkiewieczk at times).

Goddamn!

Sorry in advance for my bad english....

Active Life Network :
NEC had made some softwares to a meeting company ! The software is running on a PC Engine CD-ROM² system and it was sell to the meeting company.
Active Life Network is the name of the meeting company and the software was made by MAC21.
Man or woman must pay to play the game and you have a code access to play the game (A.L.N. have also a code access, I think you must have the 2 code access t play the game). I have never see any pictures in-game, but you write your hobbing, age,... and after you can ask a date to a other personn who use the ALN software.
This ALN software was made and given to employes of a company. The boss want to facilitate meeting between his staff.
A new version was made every 3 months (perhaps there were more 4 versions.... ??).

This software is incredible rare

Hudson School Graduation :

There are 2 PCE CD Hudson School : 1992 and 1993.

I don't know what are the game on the 1992 CD, I have only the front cover and a little black and white picture in game (we can see Shinichi Nakamoto a boss of Hudson Soft, perhaps it seems to be a sort of digi-comics).
Those CD are given to the students and the staff (about max 50 copies). Now students are programmers in Hudson, Konami or others company.
At the end of the training at the Hudson School, each student have a game project. The best project are put on the PCE CD.

For the year 1993, there are 3 games on the CD :
- Ute : vertical shooting (like a little Cotton)
- Tower : action-puzzle (like a little Neutopia)
- Jeon Kaberd : adventure game.

Those CD are is incredible rare.

Oh man. That's what some mail order place (I think it was Japan Video Games) told my friend. He was *so* pissed when he got it and found out it sucked.

$300? Shit, I need to tell him so he can sell it.

Thank you Thibaut! Wow, I'm really surprised by Active Life Network. Crazy! And, from your description, it seems that this product was only used at one company? Crazier! Social-networking software on a PCE -- who could have anticipated that? Not I.

I've seen advertisements for Hudson School (the actual educational program, not the CD) in PC Engine magazines... I wonder if that was the best place to recruit potential programmers (my heart says, "No!").

Fascinating! Ute, Tower and Jeon Kaberd sound intriguing!!!
