Well, I just lost my Turbo Duo because the asshole who traded it to me wants it back because he fucked up on the trade wording(He told me that I didn't have to send my system if I wasn't satisfied and I wasn't as it wasn't working properly and now that I have it working, he wants it back with some BS excuses and trying to threaten me). So, now that I'm officially out a PS3 that's blown, $450, AND a Turbo Duo.

So, since obviously no one on the internet will take plight in my story and give me a Duo, I'll have to sell these games I have.

No unfair offers are refused. I only take Checks, Money Orders, or Cash in envelope. NO PAYPAL!!!!

Help me! I've already lost so much trying to get a Duo and it's heartbreaking to get rid of this stuff, but I need to. After all, if I don't have a Duo, what's the point of keeping these?

He claimed that it was working fine. But, when I got it, it wasn't playing my backups. The laser kept locking up. I opened it up, cleaned the gears, unstuck the unit, and now it works fine. But, since I have to send it back, what's the point? Like I said, I have to sell these games. I've lost so much money trying to get a Duo. Since I don't believe anyone would give me their spare Duo or whatever after listening to this story(hell, they might be sitting on four Duos and claim that they are going to sell them to pay for their kid's college when they don't have kids like this character), I guess this stuff has to go and since I don't have a Duo or anything, this is probably the last I'm going to be here as what's the point of being on a Turbo forum when you cannot participate?

I finally got a Duo after all these loops and holes and spending all this money that right now I'm paying off with nothing to show for it and after ten years of waiting for one(my aunt's most prized gaming possession was her Duo. I was supposed to get it when she passed, but the laser died about a week before she did) and now I have to send it back to some asshole who loves to hoard everything so no classic gamer can get their hands on one and has no value to him except money.

How are you out a ps3 $450 AND a duo?

Here's the breakdown:

I put up an offer to trade a 750GB PS3(I used it primarily as a movie hub). The guy that took my offer on another site wanted a new PS3 instead which I agreed to and I sent him one with my Dell account after he sent his Duo. His Duo's laser got stuck and he already had the PS3 I sent him. That's why I was out $200 and a Duo there. Because I wanted to keep the games and the Duo Tap.

At the same time, this asshole that's in the topic starter, said he had a few Duo and he's trade my for my 750GB PS3. He said that if I wasn't satisfied with the Duo, I didn't have to send him anything. His Duo comes and it gets stuck reading the backups. But, unlike the last, I opened it, cleaned it, lubed the gear, and I hadn't had that problem since. I was still going to send the PS3 any way to be nice, but when backing up my data, my PS3 got the YLOD. So, that's how I'm out a PS3.

I sent him a message about it and told him. No response. So, I figured he didn't care. What else would you assume from a guy who you don't hear from in a month? But, the guy who got the new PS3, sent me half of the price back, which I used to buy a couple of Duos which were ALSO dead(this was BEFORE the topic starter sent me the Duo). But, being Craigslist, there's no real way to get your money back. That's the OTHER $250 right there.

It's not really being dead set. It's more "I'm out all this money with nothing to show for it, what's the point of keeping it since nobody will step in and help me". As for my aunt's Duo, she junked it after the laser blew. I mean, am I really crazy to believe that maybe there are still some good people out there with compassion for another. I know that if the roles were reversed and I had a spare Duo, I'd send it to that person and maybe even throw in a couple of games. But, since there's no one out there like that anymore, I have to sell.

1) unYLOD the PS3 and send to the guy. That craps easy to fix.
2) keep the duo either way because he was dumb enough to send it.
3) Sell the busted duo's you got off CL for some cash to recoup, or get them fixed and have an army of duos.


also, email exchanges don't really form much of a concrete agreement to anything especially since you guys didn't sign anything and didnt go through eBay or anywhere with protection services.  Its CL, or a random forum.  Its brutal out there.  He can shove it. 

He sent it to you.  If you don't send it back or keep up your end of the bargain, oops.  If he wastes time and money with courtfees, etc. (more than the cost of a duo or a ps3), he is an idiot.   Especially because its possible they will just tell him "Youre dumb. Not sure if you know this, but a good number of Duo lasers often get stuck when playing backups.

And also it sounds like the duo. He got wasn't broken at all.  The laser jammed because he used cdrs.  That's not necessarily a defect in the hardware but a limitation of the older design. 

Like others have said... get your ps3 repaired, send it his way, keep your duo and if its not working right, have it repaired.

Do you really think I would offer to someone I have never met in my life a $200-$300 classic game system possibly in return for a PS3 "if you are satisfied." (People on this forum ask yourselves if ANYONE you know would do this) You could just lie and say you are not satisfied. You could say "It has a scratch on the case I am not satisfied." I dont even know if you ever had a PS3. You specifically asked me to test it with Bonk/2/Gate of thunder, it worked. I tested it with Lords of Thunder and J.B Harold. I sent the system first out of good faith. I tested the system with originals for more than an hour(love me some Lords of Thunder), no problems. You never said test it with a burn of Gate Of Thunder. You never said you were going to use cdrs at all. Then you tell me your system happened to YLOD while backing up saves(the most processing intensive thing system can do).

Then you tell me you were having problems with the PS3 and the system playing CDrs(nothing about the laser/gears not working). I have a fair knowledge of system repair and offered you some suggestions to try. You did not respond to most of my suggestions. You said you would get a legit DUO CD game and let me know the results. You don not tell me the result. My roomies mom passes away, I lose touch on the issue and kind of had this on the backburner for 3 weeks. You never contact me in the mean time. I contact you 3 weeks later after last contact to see whats the status. You logon(remember you can check last logon on a forum) and dont respond. I send another message, you get back 2 weeks later, saying that the PM message notification bar didnt show any new messages. You tell me to be patient and "whats your big loss here," I say I just traded you for a PS3 and you didnt send that or the "broken" DUO. I say I just want either of those things. You reply with a curse filled bunch of gibberish about how people like me are the scum of the earth and since this was a spare duo(I have a main one for actual gaming, this was a backup) that it should be no big loss for me.

My attorney was right. You ARE unstable. But, since it looks like he's getting his Duo back, the games are for sale. There's so many contradictions in HIS post, I don't know where the fuck to start. Sounds to me like it's JB thats in the wrong here.  From reading over the other guy's post, he sounds like he was the one that stuck himself out there, in good faith.  Nothing against you JB, but your cursing and name-calling, along with all the accusations tend to make us lose faith in your word.  As far as sending cash, or money-order for games, and not using Paypal..  hmm..  There already seems to be a HUGE situation with someone sending something in good faith, and not getting what they expect.  I am not taking sides here at all, just explaining to you how it looks on this end.  

Playing back-ups in your Duo.  Anyone can tell you, that a lot of Duo's have issues with it.  Mine will play certain back-ups, and not others.  Its a sensitive system. As far as throwing out broken/non-working Duos...hmm..there are A LOT of guys here that fix them VERY easily.  So, bad move there man.    

In closing, if you REALLY want to sell your games, just create a Paypal acct.  It's easy, its fast, and its free.  That gives the buyer something to fall back on, and helps us feel better about the transaction.  I've bought many games from people right here on these forums, and have never been screwed.

For the guy that sent the Duo, sorry for my first post man.  Its good to know both sides of the story, and I hope you are able to get your Duo back or the repaired PS3.  Personally, I'd want my Duo back.

What I dont get is, it was fairly simple:

1) get duo and see if its legit
2) Send PS3 as fair trade.

If the duo was not as legit as you wanted, why didn't you just send it back and be done with it?  You were capable of getting multiple duos which you then junked as opposed to fixing....

DESPITE APPARENTLY KNOWING HOW TO FIX THEM.  

Its funny really.  This should have been a simple swap, and now you are blaming someone else because you took the liberty of:

1) buying a bunch of duos to fix his for a superficial problem.  He didn't ask you to do that.  You just did it.  Maybe you shouldn't buy it with the goal of playing CD-Rs your primary concern.
2) Junking duos once his was fixed, instead of keeping them for more repairs/profit.  Why would you throw things out you know how to fix?  Why not just buy a junky duo and fix it in the first place?
3) being fairly abrasive towards someone who is apparently a member here, and who has been here far longer than you, evidently.  That shits hilarious.

I also find it strange your PS3 YLOD'd while doing saves.  Thats funny.   I loled.  Thats like saying you blew your engine while backing out of your driveway.

Fix the PS3 and send it to him, or send him his duo, and then, shut up.  You're blaming someone else for your own flailing.

How is he responsible for you buying random duos that turned out to be broken?  Why didn't you test them first?
How is it his fault the duo plays legit games fine and doesn't play CD-Rs well?  
How is it his fault you magically broke your ps3?

It sounds like you should wear a helmet when you use money.   It wasnt to your liking, so instead of just sending it back, you went overboard trying to fix it, then somehow broke your own goods and botched the whole deal.  Thats your fault chief.

Also, involving a lawyer is great.  I doubt the lawyer knows what a duo is, and I doubt they know that you're being a tard.  

and finally, don't try to show up here rallying support from the rest of us complete with a sweet forum avatar, when you're the one who fucked up.
