Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Steve as a good buddy I'll warn you, that game sucks SHIT on an epic level. Don't waste your $50 man, spend it on a good game instead!

You paint in broad strokes, man.

It doesn't suck shit. It just isn't that great. It isn't as good as it should have been, but it doesn't suck. Energy sucks. Cal III sucks. Strider does not suck.

I picked Strider up on Ebay recently for $43 which is a little cheaper than usual considering it was a US seller.  $50 is typical, sometimes it goes for $70+.
I like ACD Strider.  It probably has something to do with the fact that I've never played any of the other Strider games or ports before so I didn't have expectations that were let down.  I have foggy memories of playing 8-bit NES Strider for about 1/2 an hour when my friend rented it one day.
Once again, I like it.  It's a good action game.  I also like using my Arcade card as much as possible.
I'm a cunt, always was. Topic Adjourned.

Strider is just what I would expect from NEC doing the port. Now if hudson had put in the effort, it would be a much better port.  Suprisingly though, Lost Worlds was pretty decent for a NEC job 8)

yes you're right. there is no reason to open up threads for a quote request of a single game only. better do that in the trading corner or somewhere, else the main discussion forums getting flooded by those " single request to single answer"-topics non sense :)

I know you are looking out for me because you have warned me in the past about this title.

Of course, despite your warnings, I am still going to buy this game... it's just a matter of time :)

You know that my curiousity has gotten the better of me and I'll have to find out how bad the game is for myself.

As I said, I am going to give this game a chance. :) You give me a little bit of hope that the game *can* provide some enjoyment :)

Thanks for the warm welcome pal!

Haha well it's your money afterall, but consider getting Keranu to burn you a CDR or something first so you can try it.  Instead you could spend that $50 on Hana Taka Dana and tell me how it is!

Keranu

Hana Taka Daka rules, but I too am interested in the ACD port of Strider, despite all the nasty claims. Not willing to buy it yet though.

Crap! That is another game on my list. It looks like it could be a fun, quirky game, though I can't shake the feeling that "Bubble Bobble 4" (Mizubaku Dai Bouken) might provide a bigger bang for the buck.

Dammit!

By "one of those fourms" and meant one of those over modded hell holes where topics are closed, and moved constantly supossedly for this or that petty reason, but really its just to satiate control freaks.

If the topic sucks, just ignore it.

Digi.k

wow if you never seen it running...

well theres a really old-ish video uploaded on youtube..

CrackTiger

I fired up Strider recently, after finishing the arcade version on PSP and once again surprised at how decent it was (compared to the rap it gets).

S-Video does help, but there actually wasn't that much flicker in the first level. It certainly is way more detailed and less totally redrawn than the Genesis version, but it also uses some weird choices for colors in some spots.

Its far from a total garbage port, its just not anywhere nere a decent PCE port. But the graphics are more or less as good as Ghouls N Ghosts SGX's(which I feel is also a lousy port graphically).

My main problem with it, either than having to continue at the beginning of a level, is that for me, the arcade original wasn't a very good game all round, so anything it loses from there onward just makes it that much less appealing.

Anyways, I recently got a request for video of it and it's second on my list of games to record and put on my site and YouTube. At the very least, I'll get level by levels clips to start.
