Dick ( because it is somebodies name, not a body part

Dork ( well I still say dork but everybody forgot about the positive and true negative of the word )

faggot ( a faggot is a over-used penis, or one that resembles a ciggarrete, I hate that word because everybody who uses it, is basically saying ( wuss, wuss, wusssy, wussy ) and little kids use it, because their r-tarded parents )

gay ( I just say non-heterosexual, because gay means happy, ( I am gay your gay, everybody is gay ).

Breasts ( I say nips, ( but then everybody has a problem with nips ) instead, because that is all that needs to be covered up ).

sexting ( becuase calling it AOL just makes more sense ). I remember exchanging pictures back when the internet reached normal people ( poor people ) and this was and is a normal thing, but now because  people ( people born in the mid 1990's ) never grewed up without a cell phone, are just soo simple when it comes to computers, ) the internet had millions of images of people sending pictures back and forth. Before myspace, facecraig, etc etc smart phone. All the proffessionals are outter state.

I'm bothered more by the people that whine about terms being used (i.e. - the clowns that burst into tears and/or fly into a rage every time someone types 'shmup'..... for them, I use shmup almost exclusively when talking about shmups).
Ultimate Forum Bully/Thief/Saboteur/Clone Warrior! BURN IN HELL NECROPHUCK!!!

VestCunt

Oh, you mean Zeta, right?  ;)

"Shmup" is logical in that words have been contracted and jammed together since the beginning of time, but it's important to form words that don't make you sound like an idiot when taking such liberties with language.  I guess I don't mind seeing it typed - it has two fewer characters than "shooter" - but god help me if someone ever says "shmup" to my face.

Sure, there are plenty of terms that people use that look or sound stupid (verbally saying LOL is one of 'em), but nothing so bad that I want to cut off their head and carry it around in a bowling ball bag.  Well.... not more than usual anyway.

I really can't stand hearing people say uberleet.

most of the people doing it don't even know what uber means, and have never played a game, meaning they shouldn't use the word leet.

OMG THIS FROZEN COFFEE IS UBERLEET.

shut the fuck up, twat.  It's not uber. It tastes like shit.  and it's not leet if you can just fuckin buy it at the counter for 8$

Overuse of fuck, what a waste of a such a potent word. I made a thread about that a year or two ago. Learn to drop the f-bomb wisely, using it every other sentence does not make one sound tough, it makes them look insecure and unimaginative.

133t speak in general

JAP or Jap when describing Japanese games/hardware. Seems to mostly be a EUR thing. It's worse when Jap-users defend its use. Nevermind that it is the exact same as "Nip".

I don't hate it, but I don't like reading SCD used to describe Sega-CD games, since I only ever saw SCD used for Super CD for at least fifteen years straight beforehand.

It hurts my ears when people says "ness" out loud when pronouncing NES or SNES.

On the topic of SNESS.  That is another annoying as all hell saying.  It is way easier to just say Super Nintendo than saying S.N.E.S.

I also can't stand "tool" and "asshat". People that use those words are tools and asshats themselves. Oops, did that just make me one?

Yeah, I don't like "Super Ness", but "Sness" is the worst for me.

I've only ever heard it pronounced like that by people getting into ancient gaming many years after it was current. Talking about "all the Sness games from Super Mario to Zelda!"

I always say/think N-E-S and occasionally Nintendo Entertainment System and normally Super Nintendo with the occasional S-N-E-S.

Something else that has bothered me since bitd is when people call a game system or video games in general "Nintendo" or "Sega". Like, "He's always playing his Sega". It's usually/always the context and the way they form their sentences though. Calling NES stuff "Nintendo" didn't seem unusual until the SNES came around. But the Genesis was always GENESIS! with a tiny little sega hidden nearby. It seamed to me at the time it started, that it was people (mostly adults back then) who had been calling the NES/video games "Nintendo" who started calling the Genesis or games in general "Sega". Because it was noticeable before the screaming "Sega!" ads.

One thing that really, really pisses me off in writing is when some starts a sentence with "while", like "While the PC Engine may have been an 8-bit console, it was in competition with 16-bit consoles." I see this used all the time in game journalism, it's usually a blatantly obvious point too.

This ought to piss you off even more then: in UK English, the phrase has the opposite meaning to the same phrase in US English. when an American says it, we mean 'to give something consideration'; in UK English, it means to remove something from consideration.

For my own contribution: 'going forward' to mean 'in the future'. It's annoying as corpspeak, and it's started to creep into daily usage by some of my friends.  ](*,)

Isn't that the point of that slang, to bring a casual tone to a discussion after going into detail about something?

A phrase that makes me uncomfortable when people use it locally is "cheers" in place of thank you. If I was visiting the UK it wouldn't seem weird, but most of the people I hear using it have a North American accent and vocabulary.
