Scratch repair

I got a US Turbo Duo system with some pretty deep scratches and scuffs.  Anyone know of any kind of residue or filler you can put in, sand it, paint and will match the original duo plastic?  Or perhaps an even easier solution?  Some of the scratches on it are so deep they are actually white on the black paint.

would be handy my tg16 has a fair few scratches and the lid on the cd unit is pretty scratched up. most scratch removal involves a abrasive so scratching the scratch out and then polish dont think gonna work on the duo.

Um...the Duo is molded in black plastic, no paint. You should be able to drill a hole straight through the case and not see any white. Maybe I don't understand what you are saying...?

It should be not big deal to use a poly filler, prime and paint the whole thing, and have a perfect case. It won't have any logos on it anymore though.

Ya scratch buffers will do the trick on some of them, but I got a couple deep ones, I definitely don't want to lose my logos either, I'll look into poly filler I guess.  The white scratches must have been something that scratched against it that was white then I guess, but whatever it is they're not coming off .

problem with scratch buffers is if the plastic is textured your likely to lose the original look. One thing you can try is a magic eraser. My wife suggested it and it works pretty damn good on white duo's and fairly well on black ones. Keep in mind it leaves a chalky residue on the system that needs to be cleaned off and gets into the laser if your not careful.

been thinking about getting one of them magic erasers, so they take scratches out as well?

would be a good test on my dreamcast as that starting to go pretty yellow.

When the black plastic of the duo gets scratched badly it looks almost white. I have a couple duos that look pretty bad because of this and would be interested in a fix too! Black marker looks kinda bad.

Magic eraser is not that magic. it can reduce small scratches and eliminate scuffs, it cannot polish a turd. if you have marker on a system, it will remove it. It reduces scratches by eliminating the burrs in the plastic made when it was scratched.

I 2nd using a magic eraser for scratches. Just don't wipe it too hard or it will make a glossy looking patch on a DUO. However, usually that still looks better than the original scratches did.
