@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Have anyone put there Loose Turbo Chip Games in an Emply Sega Card Clamshell??

I think it's more study then the Jewel Cases, But that's my opinion

Joe Redifer

They are WAY more sturdy and also about a hundred times harder to come by.

KnightWarrior

If I find any in bulk in buy it..

Would there be a demand on here for it??

PunkCryborg

I wouldn't want to take a my card out of it's case for a hu card. If you really need a case you can always just take one from a shitty sports game or a mahjong pce game.

I can't imagine why anyone would do this.

Black Turbochip trays rarely break. The jewel case covers do, but they're easily swappable and cost pennies.

Sega Card cases are much more rare and slightly more expensive than CIC TV Sports games. They don't match the aesthetic of the system, they don't blend with CD games or the rest of the library, they waste space and don't fit on CD shelves, they don't work with Sparky's stickers, and they even don't even hold TG manuals without distorting them! There were some knuckleheads making DVD case inserts, but they looked terrible.

EDIT: also, aftermarket chip cases seem to be just around the corner as demand grows and Aetherbyte prepares to release ABcards. Now's not the time to orphan a bunch of poor Sega Cards.

Sega Card cases ought to be housing Sega Cards.

KnightWarrior

The TG-16 Manual does fit..I tried with my Spatterhouse manual

motdelbourt

Is there really a need for super durable cases for hucards at this point in history? If anyone is roughhousing with HuCards, it better be limited to Gunboat or something.

Duo_R

If anything the DS cases would make more sense, but still nothing beats the stock hucard cases with Sparky labels.

Technically you can put a TG manual in a Sega card case and close the case. Does the TG manual actually fit? No, not at all. Is it a good idea to store it in a Sega case? Absolutely not.

First of all, TG manuals are wider than Sega manuals, so there's no hope of immobilizing the manual inside the case. The width of TG manuals forces them to rest on top of one or both of the interior manual-holder tabs. Resting paper on 1/4' bumps for a long period of time is never a good idea, even if you store it vertically.

Second, not only are TG manuals wider than Sega manuals, but they're about 1/32-1/16 of an inch wider than the interior of the whole case!  To close the case, a TG manual has to span the interior diagonally; even then, the spine presses on the manual just before the case shuts (see pic), warping the manual. I don't know what kind of freak Splatterhouse manual you have, but seriously try putting a standard 4.75" manual in a Sega Card case and tell me it fits without warping.

Let's see... the plastic is slightly more durable, but it damages manuals, it's not cost effective, it's not aesthetically pleasing, it eats storage space, there are better, cheaper options, and you can't refute any of these claims. How is it a good idea?

Agreed. Now quit screwing up your TG16 collection and orphaning your Sega Cards.

Wow. It's one thing if he's set on doing this, but Knightwarrior doesn't seem to even understand the history of what he's looking for. Mr. Idiot - if you're still reading, here's a quick FYI on what you're trying to collect:
1) Only a handful of games were released as Sega Cards.
2) Most of them were released early in the SMS's product life. We're talking, like, '86-87, except Spy vs Spy came a couple years later.
3) Therefore, they're rare as hell, although cheap, because nobody is particularly interested in them.
4) If you want cases, you'll have to buy complete games for $10-20 a piece. Nobody has amassed a collection of empty cases and I don't think I've ever seen empties sold as a lot.

At least this would save original Sega Card games from being ruined. But he is also planning on making replacement HuCard cases (and likely they'll happen before the Sega Card cases)... so you're better off just purchasing those for HuCard games.

wilykat

I'd still take the standard jewel case size for hucard.  They fit better with CD cases and Sega didn't make CD case that are the same size as Sega card and cart cases. (Sega CD and Saturn uses huge CD case, and DC used standard CD case)

KnightWarrior

I will get Hucard Cases..I will also get the Sega one, just for my Street Fighter HuCard..

I reckon the bulky manual for SFII fits in a Sega case slightly better than a standard jewel case.

Without making a new thread, I just bump this

Where can I find a Jewel Case for Street Fighter 2 CE?? I'm just going to put it in there

VestCunt

Ebay.

SFII and Populous are the only items ever produced with a double, white, Hucard jewel case.

SFII' is dirt cheap complete. Just buy one and then sell/trade/raffle your loose copy.

Because a third copy is the cheapest way to get the case, which also has two inserts, a manual and possibly a special sleeve? I don't remember if SFII' comes with the hook-in sleeve.

And don't forget that it comes with TWO huey trays, so you can swap one out with a regular cd tray and make a cozy new huey nest for one homeless game without forcing another huey out into the cold.

Can a Double CD Jewel Case do the trick til I find one for SFII'?

csgx1

My SFII' came in a single CD jewel case.  I didn't realize that SFII' actually came in a double case until recently.  Not sure why someone changed mine.  The manual fits and the case closes fine.

Probably the same reason I did.  I used the second tray for another card, and used the double case for a CD game, plus the english translation of it burned to disc.
