I was going through some old stuff and I found this old letter from NEC from when I sent some rebate in for a free game long, long ago.

I'll scan it later for a more clear copy.

2 days before my 5th birthday... Did you use the coupons?

It's a shame someone cut out a piece of that old letter.  It'd probably be worth more if it was completely intact! :D

Seriously though, I wonder if I have any old letters laying around.  I think I still have one or 2 from Nintendo.  I may have one that I got where I was allowed to send in Champions Forever in exchange for another game(chose Monster Lair, I forget what others were on the list) due to them not mentioning on the retail box that it required the Turbo Booster for better audio quality, or something like that.

I had letters from Broderbund and Sunsoft rejecting my NES game ideas sometime around 1989. Guess they didn't want to hear from a 13 year old. Wish I kept them.

Dang that letter is epic !!! It must have felt so cool to receive a letter telling you that you got a free TurboChip game from Nec Technologies inc !!!
Finally playing these games I couldn't get my hands on back in 91' !!! Nec fan always !!!

Yep.  I got a number of the rebate checks for various items too.  I also have a very generic letter that was included with the replacement TurboTap that I sent in for a warranty claim.

I think it was either The Legendary Axe or Victory Run.

I sent one to Konami once.

I'm convinced they stole it and made Castlevania games out of the ideas.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Nice find. A reminder of life before teh interwebz and polygons.

Was it card-only or was it boxed mint/complete/new/sealed/VGA rated A++?

Great find.

Only contact i had with NEC back then was calling them to get info on the TG-CD since i didn't found any in the store around my place. My english back then was soooooooo bad. Not sure she understood me at all :)

kazekirifx

I remember calling their tip line to get the code to play Bomberman on the 3-in-1 CD. Later the number for the tip line became the number for some telephone company, and I would frequently bother them to ask for codes for games which they'd never heard of.

It was sealed, complete and I would estimate that it was a Turbo Star Rating of at least 9000

@420GOAT ... Pirate radio and KNAC were the very best metal stations in the so cal LA area of all time !!! Damn I truly miss those ol days !!! lol I missed out on all the cool Turbo stuff back then, and also missed out on winning a Pirate radio T-shirt !!! But I still have my KNAC bumper stickers !!! All this talk about metal is making want to rock out and head bang to some Lords Of Thunder audio tracks !!!  ](*,)

Heh, that's great and thanks for sharing.  I'd say we should all be packrats and keep similar current stuff just in case we're hanging around PS3/360/Wii forums in twenty years, but nah.
