10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Went to the Vancouver Gaming Expo on the weekend.

TG-16:   Ninja Spirit, Bravoman & Dragon's Curse for $50
PSP:      EA Collection, Burnout Legends & Ridge Racer for $20

All 6 are in fantastic shape and include case, sleeve (TG), manual and game.

Was a good show from what I saw but not as busy as the Retro Expo in March.
There were some deluded vendors selling over priced shite of course, some of which I recognized from March.

Just a block down the street I grabbed 2 lbs of Black pudding from Sherlock's.
I've eaten a quarter of it already.  Bloody amazing.  Cost as much as the PSP games and not sure which I'll enjoy more

Quote from: guest on 11/05/2012, 11:09 AMNice, I'm a big Working Design nut myself.   Which variants did you get?
Took pics of the discs.
/arc2.jpg
/lunar.jpg
Cool, those are the more common variants found from my experience.  The Arc the Lad has a set where the artwork is all in black/red instead counter to the colored discs you have.  And the other set for Lunar 2 has the secondary cast on the discs (Ronfar/Lemina/Mystere).

If you really get into it, the WD stuff for PSX is outlined very well here:

http://game-rave.com/psx_galleries/gal_workingdesigns/index.htm

Variants for most of the other systems they made games for are well pretty well known too I think, I've got a big spreadsheet put together for my own personal use concerning them though.

In addition, I got Us copies of Valis III and Psychosis, two big ones down for me!

Two big additions to my Neo Geo AES library. Thanks Turbocro for the Shock Troopers, this game rocks!  :D

Chany, please send those games my way. I know you just got 'em, but you've had enough time.  :P

Bartre, you going to make me some custom joysticks?

And todays haul... WARNING!  BLASPHEMOUS GAME CONTENT!!!

CGQuarterly

Can those x68k's output 15khz RGB?

Chris

BlueBMW

They output 15k, 24k and 31k depending on the software.  Generally speaking most stuff runs at 31k, but quite a few use 15k.  Very few games use 24k.

How much does those delicious X68s cost you anyway? I think I might have asked this before, but I probably forgot the answer

Where does everyone find all these shells? I have two sets of arcade sticks and buttons to build custom joysticks for a supergun I'm building, but can't find any usable housing for them. I'm ready to just go the homemade wooden box approach.  ](*,)

Oh, and had a Neo CD front loader with two pads and 11 games come in the mail. A JAMMA harness was also waiting for me in the mailbox today.

thesteve

i once built a shell like that for a project.

How much was the System card boxed?  I have not seen too many of these around?

The shipping was ok - since the games were super cheap - the complete haul cost me 70 Euro (incl. shipping).

Quote from: Nando on 11/16/2012, 03:52 PMHow was your experience with them? Nice haul!
All went well  :D - games arrived about two weeks after ordering.

To be honest - the System Card 2.0 was loose - I made the cover, the spine sticker and the back sticker myself (see my blog).

Bernie

Some of my recent pickups.

Frank_fjs

Nice haul Bernie! I can see you're a quality over quantity guy. :)

I haven't posted here in a while so here's some of my recent pickings:

IMG

^ Yet another FDS console that I brought back to life, I've got a bit of a stockpile of them now. Not particularly difficult if you ignore all the incorrect information on the net.

IMG

^ Some more Mark III games to add to the collection.

IMG

^ Small bit of PCE goodness.

PunkCryborg

nice hauls guys! Frank those are some nice looking mark iii game ::drools::

CGQuarterly

Hey Bernie, why does that Dynastic Hero have the American box art but a Japanese spine card?  Did they do two releases of the game in Japan?

Chris

DH only had one release in Japan. I'm guessing he either put a Sparky insert in there, or he printed his own US copy of the manual.

Bernie

Yeah, with that Dynastic Hero, I put a Sparky insert in there along with the Japanese manual.  :)  Here is what came in today.

Id say its decent if you can get it for cheap, but it feels more like a downloadable game that should been sold for around 10$. The graphic are bland, gameplay is ok but the car physics are total crap. I got it used for 20$ but to be honest this was not worth it... maybe for 10$... definitely not worth the retail price its asking...

Yeah, same here. I'm kinda having fun with it tho... but damn, this game screams "where the hell is my 2players mode!" Would be much better if the 2nd players could play as Ernest Evan, having them finally fight side by side would be awesome.

Ji-L87

Man, people have been buying the expensive games I see!
Kaze kiri, Fausetté Armour, Steam Hearts, Mad Stalker, Popful Mail....nice stuff! Color me green with envy. I've got some stuff coming in too, but not of that magnitude :mgreen:

Man that's disappointing.  You would think by now it would just be a simple arcade port enhanced to HD.  I mean why mess up something that's already perfect?

I'm agreement with that good price on Chew Man Fu.  It's a tough one to fine JIC at a decent price.
That's almost exactly what I paid for mine.  Got a Sparky label on it and it looks a lot younger than it actually is

Picked up some goodies from the P.O. yesterday: Magicoal, Startling Odyssey, Startling Odyssey II, Nadia - Secret of Blue Water, Cosmic Fantasy 4 - Chapter 1, Cosmic Fantasy Visual Collection (Babette nipples!), Pia Carrot, Can Can Bunny, and an FX-PAD.

He said he rather take my 130$
