10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

One of my favorite TV shows is Games Center CX AKA as Retro Game Master in the US.

From time to time the challenge has been based on a PC Engine title.

Here are a set of Torrent and YouTube links for the shows that have been subbed in English.  Enjoy :-)

Cool thanks man I was wondering how many they had done. I've seen the Kato and Ken episode which was very entertaining and the bonk one which was also good. Love this show!

There have been a few more PC Engine challenges, however these have not been translated/subbed yet.

I have never been sure of the correct title as I have seen several over the years. Some include:

Brothers DuoMazov: YOUKAI DOUCHUUKI
PCE Bible: YŌKAI  DŌCHŪKI
PCECP: Youkai Dochuki
Pcedaisakusen: Youkaidouchuuki
Video Game Den: YÔKAI  DOCHÛKI

Maybe: Tales of the monster path

I just know it as Shadow Land ;-)

Tatsujin

Youkai douchuuki / YŌKAI  DŌCHŪKI

Thanks for the naming info for the Japanese version.

I am based in the UK and when I had used to work at a gamin store I knew it as Shadow Land.  Probably as this was the name of the game in the Arcades when it got translated.

Anyone who enjoys these videos should consider buying the series on DVD. It's for sale in Japan and in the US (from the amazingly awesome Discotek Media).

I remember the episode where he played Bonks Adventure. It was great when he encountered that glitch on the last stage.

I forgot just how fun this show, and the DS games, were.

Nostalgic GCCX memories prompted me to update and finally upload a GCCX DS game secrets page on my site: https://www.chrismcovell.com/GameCenterCX/index.html

The Kato and Ken episode is one of my favorites and makes me want to pick up a CIB copy of the game.
