I am all over this. One of my all-time favorite NES games.

munchiaz

I never really played the game as a kid. I saw lots of videos, and i have heard so many great things about it. I hope they include the original as well

thats what I said, lol.

I hate that shit when camera zooms around in platformers.

NES > Remake.

You heard it here first, twice!
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

CrackTiger

I was excited when I read about the features:

Redrawn sprites based on the originals
Original cast doing voice work
Original version's soundtrack updated

And it is still cool that Capcom is doing this, but the 3D elements are disappointing. It would be so much nicer with HD 2D backgrounds.

Not sure I would download it but it looks good.  I never played the original either.

It is odd that Duck Tales is one of my favorite games ever, but I am not more excited for this.  I will pick it up for my Wii U when it comes out, but expectations are low.

Would be awesome if they did a whole new stage or two, rather than a straight up remake.  I could play the original any time.

Sweet!  I'm loving Wayforward more n' more!  Like BT, I'd prefer HD 2D, but, I'll live.  These's days, I really don't expect any games that are on a 2D plane to have a physical release.  Maybe on a portable, but not a console unfortunately.

The graphics aren't as good as the NES version but it could be fun.

I like what wayforward did with dd neon even if they didn't use sprites. After watching this trailer for the duck tales remake, that sure put my fears to rest. It's a good thing there using sprites this time and not polygons.Ok wayforward shut up and take my money !!

STATUS: Zooming in/out should only be used sparingly (for dramatic effect) ...and I'm OK with it. SPARINGLY. SPARINGLY.

DUCKTALES THE TELEVISION SHOW: Last year I picked up all the DVD releases...some of the episodes are weaker than I remember (as a kid), but overall my daughter and I are enjoying them.

DUCKTALES THE NES CAPCOM GAME: Such a fun game. So nice. WAY TOO EASY, but so much fun. It was an example of an NES game that simply outclassed SCADS OF ITS 16-BIT CONTEMPORARIES back in the day. I remember playing DuckTales and scratching my hairy balls and wondering: Why the hell aren't there games this fun on Genesis and TG-16? There were many NES releases that held their own (fun-wise) with 16-bit contemporaries.

NES CONTROLLER: My cousin hated finding pubic hair on his NES gear. He'd always blame me. I relied on him for my NES fix because I had already sold my NES to fund purchase of TG-16.

Pretty psyc'd for this, would love a chip and dale rescue rangers remastered as well.

It would be pretty awesome if they remastered this and it was successful, so then they redid the other NES Capcom games.  Once they had 4 of them, they could pack them in a nice box and sell it ON A DISC!  That would be a dream come true.

It'd be nice if they eventually did the 2nd Ducktales game.  I've never played it, but I've heard it's decent.

Duck Tales 2 is excellent, but it's more or less just new levels for the original Duck Tales, no major control tweaks or anything.

"Looking".

The sprites in this remake are already redrawn the exact same way as SSFIITHD, but I don't believe that the gameplay will be broken (other than the backgrounds possibly confusing people).

What I was actually trying to say was that I was expecting it to have overhauled 2-D backgrounds similar to what SSF2THD had. I was like "meh" at the 3-D backgrounds. It looks like a PSP side scroller (i.e. Dracula X Chronicles, Megaman X Maverick Hunter etc).

Don't get me wrong, I'm still gonna cop that.

Speaking of such, I still want this to happen

STATUS: As long as the "hit box" for Arthur isn't too big (and it doesn't play like Rastan Saga II on PCE), then I say HELL YES!

Seriously, though, if Arthur was just a bit smaller (for all the platforming to play nice...unlike Rastan Saga II), then HELL YES.

What's really cool about this is apparently Disney approached them about remaking it, not the other way around. It seems the folks in charge of Disney now are big fans of the old shows so there actually is the possibility of the other NES games getting remade if this one does well. Not only that, but after years of waiting, they're finally going to release the last volume of DuckTales on dvd! Dare I hope for a full blown revival? Even a one off DTV movie or TV special would be awesome. Fingers crossed.
I am bad and that's good. I will never be good and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

well, seems like disney is learning from past mistakes and shapes up to be the great company everyone wants them to be... I just hope they treat the new Star Wars Movies right....

I have no doubt they will. I remain convinced that a large part of the reason Lucas sold it to them is because he wanted to do more movies but didn't want to deal with constant complaining from all the so-called "fans". Evidence: As part of the new trilogy announcement, someone said they were working from a story outline by Lucas, so he's still very much involved. Now he just has the benefit of being able to say "Don't blame me! I didn't do it! They did!" It's win-win.

In any case, I absolutely love that the same day Disney announced they'd bought Lucasfilm, they released a new Disney World commercial that showed Vader and some Stormtroopers enjoying the rides, as if to rub it in the faces of the idiot fanboys who will moan and wail about this being the worst thing ever. I point and laugh at those people.

Just feel sorry for the poor bastard who dons the Jar Jar Binx outfit.

retroguy

Well, to be fair, Lucas did say at one point that Star Wars was at least partially intended to be a series of kids movies, so Jar Jar was likely included as a character who would appeal to kids. I've never had a problem with Jar Jar, personally. I think he's funny and the Clone Wars cartoon has made him a much more interesting character. Admittedly, I've only seen the first season, but there are a couple of episodes there (Bombad Jedi and The Gungan General) where the writers showed they can make him a competent ally while still being very much in character.

He's not the only one complaining about the difficultly. Man, people who only play modern games are a bunch of wusses. This game was easy and not just by NES standards. I think Capcom even made the original difficulty "EXTREME" which is just laughable.

Nothing wrong with Modern games, though I don't play many. Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii is a very fine plat-former, and extremely difficult at points (though you can buy tons of extra lives).

Yeah and all the reviews complained about it's difficulty as well. It also could only achieve that difficulty while also having a stupid super guide in it.

I played through the new intro level and the Amazon level last night. The ONLY complaint I could register about this game is that it's a bit talky. Tons of dialog! But if I were to guess, I would say that Wayforward thought, "Hey, we've got the original voice cast here. Let's fuckin' use 'em!" So with that in mind, it doesn't bother me too much. Beyond that, I can't understand why anybody would complain about this game. Especially the reviewers who claim to be big fans of the original.

Too hard? Pussies.

Yup, there's only a few that I think aren't the originals.  Flintheart Glomgold, Fenton Crackshell, Gyro Gearloose aren't the originals.  Though to be fair, their OG VA's are gone.  Some of them sound just a little off, like Burger Beagle & Magica De Spell, but, then again, it's been over 20 years since the show.  Alan Young still sounds great as Scrooge!

Scrooge is the most important. I always liked Magica De Spell, perfect voice for the character.

I gotta watch some more episodes on DVD with my daughter, but the quality between episodes isn't as great as I remember them to be. This isn't a problem for me, but it makes it a tougher sell for convincing my 9-year-old to trust me! Ha!

Finally down loaded duck tales remaster from the psn.I'm enjoying it so far the updated visuals are great, though i don't think the 3D back grounds really fit it.Pretty much it's the same game but with the tweaks a few added levels etc.The reworked boss battles are a nice touch and the voice acting is excellent.

I really don't understand why most critics are being hard on the game. This game was made for the fans that enjoyed the original.Unless, they were expecting some thing in depth i guess they miss the fact that it's a good old fashion platformer.

Any body seen this review ? I know id cringe when i watched it....

I have not played the game, but I call out the reviewer for BULLSH*T nonsense like this gem:

Paraphrasing "...in the new version, enemies re-spawn... while this was OK in the NES version because it was the result of technical (memory) limitations, it has no place in a modern version."

3:17 in video, he shows how flying cyborg duck re-spawns...HOLY SHITE, YOU BLICKHEAD, THAT APPEARS TO BE A VERY CONSCIOUS ENEMY PLACEMENT! The challenge is to FIGURE OUT THE BEST WAY TO PROCEED, good game design allows you to RETREAT WITHOUT PENALTIES to TRY AGAIN (trial and error w/o penalties is totally fair). Now, there might not be a solution to overcome this cyborg dick w/o a hit on your life...but that doesn't mean it is cheap/unfair/poor stage design/poor enemy placement.

Re-spawning was a CONSCIOUS DECISION made by the original developers and was chosen for a REASON (when creating a game, every decision impacts the flow of the game, the challenge, the re-play value...you want to strike the right balance...changing just one variable can have repercussions...lack of re-spawning might make it WAY TOO FUCKING EASY, so new challenges/obstacles/puzzles would need to be devised ).

So, the reviewer doesn't like re-spawning (yet he proclaims to be a fan of platformers? It must be a very short list...), but he fails to COMPETENTLY explain WHY...does this remake execute spawning poorly (re-spawning enemies get cheap hits, knock you down, etc.)? Of course, there will disagreement on what is considered a "cheap hit" (some zero-skilled folks apply it to situations where they have failed to DEVISE A VIABLE STRATEGY...expecting trial-and-error is a GOOD THING and the hallmark of solving puzzles...after exhausting reasonable solutions, folks can legitimately cry "Unfair! Cheap!" when it is warranted, but I feel that entire hordes of gamers don't fully understand/appreciate this. Ninja Gaiden (NES), may have a few unfair, cheap moments (if you don't have specific magic/power-up, for example)...but I don't recall any moments like that in DuckTales.

This doesn't mean that the new version is great, or is immune to criticism...but it means that I question the logic/reasoning of the reviewer.

Mzo

The worst reviews I've seen for Remastered have been from Chris Kohler on Wired and the one on Gamespot.  The worst part is that their weird, whiny complaints (high difficulty, limited lives, etc.) can all be addressed by selecting easy mode.  Guess they didn't bother trying that out before giving a negative review and hurting the game's sales.

I personally loved it.  The one flaw was that you had to hold down first and then press the action button to pogo, unlike the original NES game (where you could press B and then down, so most people did it simultaneously) and that led to some mistakes.  On Steam it was patched overnight after release and from there on worked perfectly.

Everything about Remastered was great.  Finished off all the achievements in a couple of days, but continued to play it because it's just fun.
