Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone here after just joining this site. I'm from UK originally but now living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I still go back to the UK once a year or so and the last time I went back I managed to get myself a US Duo which came with around 20 hucards, 5 or 6 CD games, a hucard converter and a few other bits and bobs. I always wanted a PC engine after drooling over them in the import magazines back in the day and now at nearly 40 I got one!

I packed it nicely in my hand luggage and brought it back here to Malaysia and have been really enjoying it but trying to find anything for the PCE here in Malaysia is pretty much impossible. So I hope that I can make some good friends on here and maybe use the forums here as a lifeline to get hold of some games from you guys.

I've always been into older consoles and have quite a large collection, I just never had any PCE stuff so its all very exciting!

Cheers.

Welcome, man!  Getting a Duo straight off was great!  Your best bet for new games might be just to get them straight from Japan, although you may be able to pick up some games here on this website as well.

I visit my in-laws in Malaysia every so often. :P  My father-in-law recently moved from KL (well, PJ) to JB.  (More family in Penang and Ipoh).  I miss KL when I visit now, especially the food. ;)

Yeah, I never found much PCE stuff when I go there.  There are some pirated GBA (and DS multi carts) in one of the game shops in 1Utama when I dropped by a while back. :P  I did go to the central KL market in KL 10 years or so ago and spotted some of those pirated NES system in various cases.

Welcome. PLease enjoy. glad to meet a fellow PCE nut
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I didn't go to the GP but know plenty of friends here who did. I was lucky enough to find the Duo (boxed) with a nice collection of games and hu-converter for the j-cards which also came with the console. It has been modded for SCART (which is no use to me here in Malaysia as there are no TVs with SCART here) but all in all I'm very happy with it and it doesn't seem to have any sound problems that a lot of people talk about.

It is pretty hot here EVERYDAY and yeah, the weather never really changes, it's either hot and sunny or hot and raining! You can find plenty of pirated stuff here, thats for sure, but not really the older consoles, just the current and popular ones. 1Utama is Ok but I prefer to go over to the Bukit Bintang area where theres so much more in places like Imbi plaza, Lowyat & Sungai wang.

I'm looking into getting some games from Japan as postage wise it seems pretty cheap. Can anyone recommend anyone over there that they have dealt with or maybe a good shop/ebay store that has reasonable prices? Thanks in advance for your help.

WingZeroKai

HitJapan is my go to eBay shop. Great selection, price and service. Or you can use their webstore if you prefer to avoid ebay www.gameofjapan.com.

I not only purchased my Duo R and many Super CD and HuCard games from them, I've purchased at least $1200 USD worth of non PCE games alone from them in the last 2 years. Mostly Saturn games, I love me some Saturn.
