Ninja Spirit

I heard it was made by Compile, is this true? If so, I didn't know that for all these years, no wonder it was a damn good game! I noticed several of the special weapons like the Explosives looked to have come out of Aleste.

Thats what the wiki says, so it must be true.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Yup. Last time I checked the Compile Homepage before it went down, it had Ghostbusters (MD) listed as a game they developed. Though I've never beaten this game myself so I never saw the credits to verify. Many of the games developed by Compile sometimes didn't got their names in the credits, so it's hard to tell how many games they really made.

Keranu

Whoa, I had no clue that Compile had anything to remotely do with this game. I remember renting this back in the day and loving it, I need to play it again.

This is probably why the music is so good.  Compile loves to have good music in their games.  The game is, by far, the best Ghostbusters game past, present or future.  I beat the game about 8 months ago and I know the word "Compile" isn't in the credits, otherwise I would have done a few back-handsprings.  I can't even remember if human names are in the credits or if there are even credits at all.

EDIT:  I know Compile also did R-Type for the SMS.  But I am curious about SMS Power Strike.  The title screen says "Compile" but then underneath it says "Reprogrammed by Sega" even though that game and R-Type share a few sound effects.  So who did the actual programming?

What other games did Compile make besides Golvellius?

Keranu

I dunno, I like that old Ghost Busters game for various consoles like NES and SMS. The one where you drive the car around looking for ghosts and then get out to catch them. It looks pretty crappy, but it's a fun game after you play it for awhile.

Probably reprogrammed a bit here and there by Sega because the SMS didn't have the FM unit of the MarkIII version. But really the whole was programmed by Compile.

I know that after the MSX had stop being supported, Compile continued their monthly releases of Disc Station on the NEC PC-98 and then to Windows 95. Those Disc Stations gave rise to their on going series of RPGs like Geo Conflict, Devil Force, Genseikitan Disc Saga, and Wander Wonder.

They developed a lot games most of which aren't shooters. On PC-Engine they developed Cyber Knight, Devil's Crash, Alien Crush, and Xevious. On the famicom they did Romancia, City Adventure Touch - Mystery of Triangle, and Taiyou no Shinden - Asteka 2. On the Snes, Jaki Crush, and on the MegaCD they made the best version of Shadowrun (too bad it's in japanese).

Dark Fact

They also made the game "The Guardian Legend" for the NES.  That game was a sci-fi shoot-em-up combined with zelda like exploration on an alien planet.  One of the most underrated NES games ever made.

Oh, and if you get the chance, play both the japanese and american releases of The Guardian Legend and compare the two.  The American version had the same gameplay but the storyline was tweaked a little because the japanese storyline was considered too sexist.  Besides, you controlled a bikini clad female warrior who can transform into a space jet fighter.  It doesn't get any better than that. :D

P.S. Lander/Randar is the shopkeeper in that game.

Did Lander/Randar make any appearances in the Genesis Ghostbusters game? :-s

Sorry, but I don't see your library card on the books of Ys.  Now, RETURN THEM TO ME!!!

GUTS

I remember seeing Randar pop up in games here and there as a kid, I had no idea why.  Back then I thought whoever's name was on the box was who made the game.

Well, the closest I've seen to Randar is a wierd blue creature that moves back and forth and you can jump on it like a trampoline.

Zanac (nes/msx2) = Fun for first timers, too easy IMO.
Zanac (msx1) = Poorer graphics, limited secondary weapons, harder difficulty, way more fun to play than Nes/MSX2 versions.

The Guardian Legend is definitely a classic. I've never beaten it though - it kicks my ass.  ](*,)
A shame they never made a sequel. Even just a port to the PCE would've been great.
If I ever had to replace my Bomberman icon, it would be a Lander instead. they're cute as hell :)

Dark Fact

Never played Zanac but since it was done by Compile, I really should. #-o

Actually, The Guardian Legend is a sequel to an old MSX game called Guardic, another game by Compile.

By the way, here is a shrine for the game that gives a lot of detailed info.  Check it out! :)

I didn't think Zanac was easy for me at the time.

Since the game "difficultly changes depending how good your at it.

Power Strike does that "difficulty change" thing, too.  Makes me think the only hope of beating the game is not to shoot at anything except the bosses.

Yup, every Zanac game and Aleste 1 (Power Strike) have the on-the-fly difficulty change known as the Automatic Level of difficulty Control (ALC). But even with the ALC attacking you, if you have a fully powered Weapon0 you'll have unlimited shots and it will deflect bullets making the whole game broken. Doing this makes it easy to get 1CC's on Zanac (Nes/msx2) and Aleste (msx2/SMS). I say the msx1 version is much harder b/c you can't power-up the secondary weapons and the ALC is way more aggressive which forces players to rely on skills only.

What is weapon zero?  You mean the gimpy default weapon that I have to collect 6,172 P's to upgrade to two shots, and then 6,172 more P's to upgrade to three shots and so on and so forth?

What is a 1CC?  1 credit completion?  (Wild guess).

I didn't mean the main gun, but the secondary weapon that you begin with. The one that can shoots in 8 different directions.

Good guess.
