2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Pics of the games you finished today!!

Start this off with some Kickle Cubicle
I was playing the fami version. I think there are a couple stages they omitted from the US version. Totally fun game by Irem. Try it out if you like Splash Lake and Tricky Kick. Very addictive. I beat the main game and it unlocks 30 special stages which I might try to get through as well.

Well, a few days ago, I beat Jackal (NES) for the billionth time. It can get tedious, but I love that damn game. Of course I have to rescue every single person, always. OTHERWISE, WHAT'S THE POINT?

Yesterday, I beat Goonies on the MSX(way better than the bad NES game)! Really awesome plat-former, and my first non-boring MSX game. Really large levels, but easy to navigate, with fun plat-forming, and cool enemies. Those Fratellis follow you from screen to screen! Unfortunately, I beat it in a day (was it easy or hard? I don't know). In fact, I beat it AGAIN today! Go Konami!!

Unfortunately, Goonies is more fun than every single one of the SG-1000 games I used to own. Even Sega Pitfall II. :'(

Kickle Cubicle is a must have for the NES. It really makes you think and hard. The ending is totally worth the effort, makes me glad I persevered back then.

Cool game, but it really drones on for awhile. The backgrounds change a bit, but the enemies not so much. Also, it has a funny final credits screen.

roflmao

Not too long ago I dug out my SMS and beat Enduro Racer and Hang On.  Nothing terribly challenging, but the ending for Enduro Racer is one of my favorites. :)

Arkhan Asylum

This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Managed to beat Bulk Slash for the first time tonight. Usually I always die at the last boss since I don't have enough health left to stand a chance - but now I found a strategy that worked.

Now to find/level up the rest of the M.I.S.S. ladies...

Sweet man! This has been on my "to finish" list for a while. I also get stuck at the last boss and can't seem to pull it off but I'd love to to get the last girl. I've found them all. I believe you have to beat the game with each girl before you can unlock the last one. I could be wrong though.

Yah, HG101 just put up an article about the game, that made me try again. In stage seven, just before the room that leads to the boss-parade, there are 4 AA-guns. After defeating them, one of the containers in the middle will contain a weapon upgrade. Usually I just run over these and end up with the flamethrower. But waiting for the F to change to B (Bezier Blaster) proved to be the key, for me at least. A full charge can take down any sub boss, not to mention the last boss first form. So use flight mode and missile spam those pushovers and save the B blaster thingy-majingy for the final fight.

Just beat the game a 2nd time using this method

So I beat this pirate famicom disk game called Comic Sakka Series Touma Senki #1 - Mashoujo Gakuen Ivuru. It's this terrible hentai shoot em up with the same level repeating over and over with a girl undressing. I got to the end boss and beat him and I got a damn disk error!!!!

I really dig the Lego games.  They're not at all difficult, yet still fun and quite humorous at times.

I have never tried one before, and yes, stormtroopers floating in space with no clothes on made me LOL.  Also, good replay value with the free play system of going back through a level with unlocked characters.

My wife and I went through the bulk of them, but I think that Lego Star Wars (1 &2) are the best of the bunch followed from Lego Batman.  I like how the later ones do a dynamic split screen when both players move away from each other but it also makes the game a little too open and sometimes makes it difficult to know what you're supposed to do in the later games.  We'd get annoyed and revert to single player.

We tried Lego Lord of the Rings and they've just pulled audio from the movies, there is some humor but I think the humor worked best when they were forced to mime a known story instead of just pulling the audio from the film itself.

That said, Lego City Undercover is pretty good.  There is speach throughout but it is an original story while making nodes to various police, spy, firefighter films and TV series.  It is single player and I think most of the newer Lego Games seem to be better geared to single player experiences, which is odd considering they have technology that handles split screen.)

bob

Theres a lego batman? That sounds fun.

Man, I found some of the levels frustrating as hell.  Most of the game is charmingly quirky and tons of fun, but there were a few too many areas that I found were just too hard to figure out and it's been shelved for a good year or so, unbeaten.

Hell yes!  I love Castlevania IV!  I really like the whip mechanics as well.  I did acutally miss not being able to whip diagonally when I first played Dracula X on pc-e.

Because he's on a motorcycle in a Neo Geo game at a perspective that might remind some of Riding Hero, which is poo.

Now I am going to play some when I get home lol..

roflmao

Sadly, I don't have any pics, but my 6 yr old son and I have been on a Final Fantasy kick lately and have cleared Mystic Quest (SNES), FFIX (PS1), and FFIV Advance (GBA via Gamecube).  We're now playing through FFIII (SNES) but I think we've both kind of burnt out on the series and it's not getting much play.

FFII (SNES) was the first jrpg I remember really getting sucked into bitd and I've played through it again a few times since. But the GBA version is such an improvement! The graphics are better, the translation is better, the game is harder, the active-time battle system from later games has been incorporated, there are portraits included in the dialog, and a quick save anywhere function ("Dinner time!" *saves and quits* = so awesome)!

We're now playing Skies of Arcadia (DC) but it'll be a nice long while before that one's complete. :)

munchiaz

Beat sword of the berserk for DC last. Really poor gameplay. But the story was decent
