Xbizzle 360 shooters

Now that the Xbone is out, I'm considering a 360 for all the shooters. What are the standout titles on the platform. I know A SHIT TON came out for it.

I found DeathSmiles a few weeks ago at a GameSlop for $5.  I played through it, thought it was pretty fun.

Cave had this one for free on the iphone. It was fun, even if it was on a tiny ass screen.  Can't go too wrong with Witches.

Otomedius does not do it for me, but it is a US released shmup. Raiden 4 is okay, but after playing the Cave stuff, it seems boring(looks and sounds nice tho).

Don't get Otomedius.   It's only good for the boobs.   The gameplay itself blows.

Seconded. Otomedius is fucking awful.

All the Cave games are great (Deathsmiles, DoDonPachi, Akai Katana, Espgaluda MuchiMuchi Pork/Pink Sweets, Mushihime-Sama Futari, Guwange), though. As are the two Raiden games (Raiden IV and Raiden Fighters Aces). Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga are on XBL. I think they delisted Triggerheart Excelica, but if not that was a good one. 1942: Joint Strike is also on XBL, and I think Under Defeat might be, too, which is awesome. There's also Galaga Legions, R-Type Dimensions, and RayStorm HD.

On the indie side, Revolver360 and Shoot1up are good. And Hypership Out of Control is fantastic. I can't recommend that one enough. There's also an iOS version of it if you wanna try it out.

the Otomedius that only came out in japan was ok. the Excellent or whatever came out in the US is garbitch. just defile the pillo case and toss the game.

i got a 360 for shooters a lil over a year ago. I sold it to fund my ps4 because i never really played it. But out of the shooters i have played (Akai katana,mushihime futari,dodonpachi) Akai katana was my favorite. Once you understand the system its just so awesome. Also its super cheap to get since it was actually released in the US

For god's sake, Ketsui.

It's probably Cave's single best game, and I've spent time with them all. They did everything right with it. I mean, there's a reason why it got a home release in 2009 when it originally came out in the arcades 2002 - it's because fans of the game never let up. Even after Arika tried and failed to port it to the PS2 (it was just a little too much for the system), people never forgot it.

I don't want to hype it up too much, but I really think Ketsui was a peak moment in the entire genre. Just be ready for it to kick your ass.

Deathsmiles is a game you keep going back to.  It can easily be beaten in 15 minutes if you spam the continues (ala Sapphire) but you want to be better next time. 

I'm probably the only person here that actually enjoys Otomedius Excellent.  It's dirt cheap, and if you like Gradius and/or boobs, this game is worth the price of admission.  It is a total homage to the Gradius series.  Enemies, bosses, music, it's all there.  But only if found on the cheap and expectations are set appropriately.

is that Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label ??  I know it was released in UK/EU as Dondonpachi resurrection deluxe but not sure about USA.  I'm just sad Konami never released Otomedius here...

It depends on the game, but sadly, Ketsui isn't.

But if you really want access to shooters, you should import a JP system anyway.

If you must go US, then Mushihimesama Futari is a great region-free import.

I don't think ps3 is region free, its just that blurays work in every region. I could be wrong about this. But i have a japanese ps3 and all my US ps3 games work just fine. I think both JP and US use bluray region 1

I believe it. Sony didn't want 2D stuff on the psone when it first came out
