It felt mediocre, yet still very fun, and holy fuck quite a few continues in that game, I'm assuming it gets really painful near the end aha.
R-Type and Raiden, as far as US releases go, give me the most trouble by about a mile compared to every other shooter on the TG

But I haven't plaid Sinistron yet, and I hear that one is absolutely brutal to beat.
I had an easier time beating Sinistron than either R-Type or Raiden. I might be wrong, but I think Sinistron has shorter and fewer stages, so even if it gets challenging, you have a shorter gauntlet to run through. At least, that is how I have always felt.

CD-ROM PCE version has nice orchestral soundtrack and two extra stages, so I'd say that was a welcome BONUS after you beat HuCARD.

 :pcgs:
Are you talking about Super Raiden for the Super CD-ROM? Not trying to be an ass, just want clarification. :) Didn't know Raiden was on Hu and CD
Yup, Super Raiden CD. Great for Raiden fans, IMHO.

If it's R-Type or Raiden level difficult, but with shorter stages, then I am definitely up for the challenge. But I might shit myself and die if I tack on another shoot 'em up that I find myself unable to beat

My feelings after reaching level 6 of R-type (which is about 10% of the time for me)...

I finally beat R Type a couple of years ago.  I'd made it to the last boss forever ago but had never been able to win.  It was a huuuuuge weight lifted off my shoulders once I'd finally beaten it.

In the "worst huey ever poll," Necromancer (albeit, I am sure 100% unintentional on his part) inspired me to reach out and try some of the shittier games in the TG library that are all but unanimously hated, despised, and yet somehow owned by many of us.

I only have about 6 or so of these games (As a general rule, I typically don't buy shitty games just to have them), but I am going to start with King of Casino and post a couple of thoughts later.

So King of Casino...

The Good: It's 100% playable, and you can play with 5 total people! It's basically every casino compilation ever that comes pre-installed on your PC, or the compilation of casino games that you buy at Target for $10.

The Bad: "It's basically every casino compilation ever that comes pre-installed on your. . ." blah blah blah. If you've ever played any computer or digital versions of a casino game, then you've basically played King of Casino already. Nothing new or original about this game, but what the hell does anybody really except??

Overall: Although I can't really see too much of a reason for wanting to play this at home (unless you just REALLY dig casino games) this could be a solid time killer for a road trip on a TE. Definitely not a top pick for said road trip, but if you want a more passive gaming experience, instead of the stress or commitment that other TG games require, then King of Casino might be the way to go.

Beat Bonk's Revenge again this morning. Was just going to play for 30 min or so, but got into the game. There are some frustrating elements with the control and how some bosses almost always damage you when you hit them, but then the game throws so many extra Bonks at you it's like they knew what they were doing and then apologizing right afterwards.

Is it me or is that game hard? I've played a few credits so far and I have yet to reach the first stage boss. There are some graphical effects going on in the background that you just don't know if they're just for show or if it can kill you. Love the visuals and music though - just my style - but being used to play Blazing Lazers and the Soldier series, the game seems a tad unforgiving so far.

Collateral damage: suddenly, I am a lot less interested in Rayxanber II and Image Fight II than I initially had been...

Yes, it's awesome when a game takes over your soul, leaving no room for Rayxanber II / Image Fight II (the aforementioned games will make you cry and question your very existence.)

Tv sports basketball on my turbo express! Great game, so many memories come now to the surface from when I was playing it on my Amiga... Font is tiny on TE but overall is a very addictive basketball game. Cinemaware did an excellent job back then! (as well as with "it came from the desert" too!)

Well, I finally opened up my sealed Lords of Thunder and Ys IV, I got a new drive and I've been ripping my old games too so I went back and played a little Drac X, Spriggan, Macross 2036 among others.  I haven't played through the two new ones yet, so they're both new games to me.  I might give Nightwolve's Ys IV translation a go.  Looking forward to some LoT, too.

Been wanting to improve my Japanese reading skills a little, so I've been playing through my PCE digital comic games.. Playing through Snatcher first since I'm extremely familiar with the plot and it can help me deduce some things.  The Junker HQ PCM music is so disappointing still compared to the Sega CD arrangement.  But all the CD based music is there, and the art and graphics are great.  I wish he'd make a sequel one day.  Cobra II, and UY: Stay With You are next.

By the way, when I got Stay With You, my version of the bonus audio CD was scratched.  Does anyone out there have a flawless one?

been playing some  of that magical chase on the everdrive. such an awesome shooter. too bad its worth a buttfuck amount of money :(

While i haven't been playing the GoTW (i need to go back to Shape Shifter) i beat Cosmic Fantasy 2. It may be one of my favorite Turbo games so far that I've played. As people have said before, the story starts out pretty standard (save the princess) but becomes so much more.

I read through Necro's little review in his thread and it had me interested awhile ago. And then Null sold me his copy in a big ole lot i bought from him, and I'm glad i spent the time to play through it all. Towards the very end of the game, before the final battle and a little after, i had some issues where some cutscenes were acting weird. The visuals would be normal but the audio would play from the previous scene. So it would be stuff i had already heard before. Luckily i was able to find the cutscenes online and rewatch them properly, but that kind of sucked. I'll have to get my Duo R checked out since the disc had little to no scratches on it whatsoever.

My heart was pounding when i finally faced Galam, and then was so relieved once i defeated him. The cutscenes were such a joy to watch (especially a select few that I'll have to rewatch in the CF Visual Collection ). I normally get bored with RPGs or kind of lose my stride with them, but i feel i really hit my stride with this one. I'm looking forward to giving the other RPGs a go (Mysterious Song, Dragon Slayer, Dungeon Explorer, etc.) as well as CF1 and some other PCE RPGs (Kabukiden, Xanadu, maybe Gulliver Boy).

This isn't my review of the game, more of a reflection of how much fun I had playing it and how I look forward to playing others in the series and the genre. So that's what Turbo game I've been playing :D

Playing Galaga '90, which I like a lot.  I played a lot of Galaga on the 7800--but was never very good.

Still kind of the same deal...I'm kind of screwed in either one once I lose the extra firepower power ups.

beat exile 2 nights ago. Fun game. Pretty easy and short. But i enjoyed it

Been playing Blazing Lazers until I finished it the other day. Such a fun game.

Tried out Silent Debuggers after finishing Blazing Lazers. A bit obtuse, but I'm intrigued enough that I'll revisit it(probably after the holidays).

The HuZERO game inspired me to finally play Tongueman's Logic. I had seen videos, but I wasn't sure how picross games worked so I never really gave it a shot. I watched some videos on Mario Picross to get an idea of how to play, then threw Tongueman's Logic on the ol' Everdrive and WOW! First of all, I really enjoy the game play. It's a neat puzzle game and drew me in. Second, amazing polish! This game looks, sounds and feels great. Really neat stuff going on! If you haven't tried it you should give it a shot!

JapanTokei

I recommend Ranma digital comic for learning japanese and general enjoyment.. it is one of the best digital comic imo!!
on a related note, I'm looking to try Cobra 2 for the same reason as well (practicing my japanese, and enjoy the digi comic as well) - any one of you played that one and can comment?

I tried two games today that I have never played on turbo before:

Camp California
Forgotten Worlds

CC:  Odd.  It's obviously an ICOM game.  It honestly feels like they re-skinned Prince Erik and made him jump.  Hit detection is pretty terrible and level design is a headache.  Just a very choppy platformer with no good flow to the levels.

FW:  I did not like the genesis game, but this version was actually pretty surprising.  I didn't expect much, but I played for about 30 mins and enjoyed it.  I'm not a fan of the spinning mechanic, so I try to use it as little as possible which I think made the game a bit more challenging.  I'm also not a fan of the "shops" in shooters where you can't really power up as you go, and once the items are lost, that's it until next level.

I'm glad you found Forgotten Worlds redeeming! Definitely stick with it.

As for Camp California, initially I felt the same way you did. I think almost everyone's first impression of CC is similar to your experience.....

But, I'll be honest, I dismissed the game without actually spending too much time with it. Old_Rover's posts (many years ago) about how CC was worthy of my time (all of our time) convinced me to give it a second chance.

I still have mixed feelings about the game...but I appreciate it a he'll of a lot more now. It actually can be pretty rewarding and I love a lot of the challenges in the game.

It isn't perfect, but stick with CC and give it a few more chances.

It might help to read some of Rover's old posts (but don't read a FAQ/walkthrough unless you are desperate...that's my philosophy, anyway).

:)

Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.

My wife is fiercely competitive. So as long as the game is vs. and not co-op, she plays. She especially likes Mortal Kombat and Baseball Stars on the neo.

She'll play co-op but its frustrating. She has to turn it into a competition, so she is constantly hogging all the health and power ups, and re-spawning by stealing your lives. Lol

Played some Ai Cho Aniki last night. I really like it just because its so weird. But I don't understand the whole time system. The first few times i played i died due to time, or just losing life to much. I think i made it to the end the last time i played (boss battle with a giant woman) But i died. Is there a way to rack up extra time in the game besides that girl showing up on the screen with the kanji balls?
