Super Grafx game on PC Engine

I just received a copy of Granzort but I don't yet have a Supergrafx to play it on. I tested it on a PC Engine and a Core Grafx (I didn't expect it to work, I'm not THAT stupid) and it gave a white screen, is this normal? I thought there might be some warning screen like "This is only intended for use on a Supergrafx console".
The reason I ask is because I'm not sure whether it works at all or not, as when I received it the card was loose inside the case without a sleeve or any other kind of protection to prevent it from sliding around.
I suppose the only way to find out for certain is to wait until I get a Supergrafx.

I'm sure your card is fine, hucards are tough bastards, would take a lot more than lack of the sleeve and padding to damage it.

I hope so. I sold a copy of Street Fighter II on ebay a few years ago and it worked fine before I sent it. The recipient informed me that it was not working properly (they even uploaded a video to Youtube as proof), so the damage must have happened in transit. It was in its case with the sleeve but it must have been flapping about in there to get damaged.

I would lean towards there was either a problem with the guys PC Engine who bought the game. Or the game was already defective. As said hucards are very tough, it would take a ridiculous amount of shaking to damage it, to the point where the box was completely destroyed

They sent it back to me and it exhibited the same issues on my consoles. Perhaps it was already a bit dodgy before I sent it and the journey finished it off?
I am open minded and hopeful about Granzort, I will just have to wait and see.

You could easily write an address on a HuCARD, apply a stamp, and have it arrive functioning at its destination, even if it were Australia, %99 of the time. HuCARDs are some of the most durable media ever.

I think Aldynes is one of the Supergrafx games that would play the music in a PC Engine. I'm not sure about Granzort though.

I received a non working Super Star Soldier mailed from Japan before. It came complete in case, packaged well and the Hucard looked absolutely brand new. For whatever reason it never work.

I've only ever had 1 hucard that was actually broken. Most of the time if there is an issue with a white screen/ game not booting, i'll pull the card out slightly (basically as far out as it will go but still have the power switch lock work), and it works fine.

Never had a broken huey but my SFII hucard (thrown in by doujindance when I bought a Duo from him) was discharging this oily goo when I first tested it. Cleaned it, left it alone. Up to a week later this oily type of residue was still going on.

I for one am sorry to hear about the gooey discharge coming from your copy of Strip Fighter II! You gotta watch out getting these kind of games second hand, I guess.

Has anyone ever broken apart a HuCard of either Street Fighter II or Populous to see what's inside that raised area of the HuCard?

Nothing happens with Granzort. No music. Nada. I can confirm that on a PC Engine Duo.

I once had a spare populous card lying around and it took it apart. Couldn't see anything in that extra space and the chips had some kind of plastic gunk covering them which was hardened, this was during the time I was wondering if a battery should have been placed in there for the ROMRAM thing but it got debunked. Because it made no sense why the populous card had all that extra large black board including the raised lid when it just had two chips the same size as what you would find in any other hucard.

Also I remember prying open the top of a street fighter CE card too and just seeing an extra piece of clear plastic with some kind of conductive thread or whatever it's called running along it..

I finally got a SUPER GRAFX console! I tested Granzort and it works perfectly, don't know what happened with the SF2 card that I mentioned earlier.
I modded it for RGB and the picture is stunning, although there are still some jailbars visible (on the usual suspect games), but they are much less visible than on my RGB Core Grafx that I have done the jailbar fix on.
One thing I have noticed though is that Aldynes does not look that much better in RGB than composite video, whereas in other games the difference is obvious.

Try comparing Aldynes on a brighter and more colorful stage and it's much more noticeable.
