Remind me how to use my "Low-Cost Flash HuCard"

I got one of these a while back:

And after having some fun with it I basically gave it to the job of always holding Tongueman's Logic. Recently though I had a guy make me a really nice fake Tongueman's Logic so I want to flash something else onto this thing but its been forever and I don't even remember how I did it.

I see there is a Windows client but I don't use Windows anymore and it doesn't seem like I had any Windows machines back when I got this either but I may be mistaken.

Is there a way to Flash this on a Mac?

So, any instructions to help a dullard... I have a Mac, too (latest OSX release) and an ancient one (OSX 10.3.9).

Part of the problem is that all of my old Wondows PC desktops/laptops have died (screens, PSU)...

So... I can use my daughter's laptop...

It has Windows 8.0?

The buy who made it only made available Windows apps for dealing with it. You could always check with him to see if he would provide the source. You willing to dig into code and recompile?

Ha! Yeah, no. Absolutely not. This forum is plastered with my "command line is for cunts" rants. Its not that I don't want to do the work, it's that I don't want to spend hours on something and have it not work, which is %99 for sure what would happen. The only time I ever successfully did something like that is when Ed Mandy helped me built a special version of an NGP emulator and it required that he walk me through every step over the phone. I really suck at computers these days. I get really really pissed every time something goes wrong, which is always when it comes to shit like this. I know my limits. I'm at least that knowledgable.

So apparently I did this with Windows...hmm...I just remember that I still have The Worst Computer I Ever Bought, a Toshiba netbook running Windows 7 that hates Flash even more than a Mac. I'll see if that POS still fires up. It must be what I used before.

Barring that, I think the app was made with .NET, or at least, anyway, you could probably run some goon-ass version of Windows on Mac with VMWare, and it will work right.

I'm pretty sure I've used the software on an old Asus Netbook with Windows XP on it and have gotten it to work, and I know I've used the software on Windows 8 successfully, so I'm thinking you should be able to use your netbook with Windows 7.

Mine sometimes has an issue erasing the rom so I have to go through the process a few times to get it to tranfser a new rom over properly. Honestly, I haven't used mine in awhile either because I have since picked up an Everdrive which holds *everything*. :/

cant really help with mac
as for it not erasing, the app needs to be opened after plugging in the card, and must be closed and unhooked after flash

If thats about the gameofyou cheap flash card.... try lightly resting a finger on the left chip, and see if that helps.

Yeah, I've already figured that out. That helps most of the time.

The assembly wasn't bad.  It was the shipping that was a little goofy.   Pretty sure some of these got sent through the machine-thing at the post office.

Is there an "Idiot's Guide" to the TED/EverDrive that I should use?

It's a simple seven step process. No drivers or fancy software needed. This applies to any flash cart, not limited to Turbo/PCe...

Step #1: Buy SD or Micro SD card and plug into PC. Format it to FAT32 if not already.

Step #2: Unzip OS files to root directory of SD card.

Step #3: Create a new folder and name it whatever you like.

Step #4: Copy any ROMs you'd like to run into said folder. Try to keep it under 250 files per folder.

Step #5: Insert SD card into Everdrive. Insert Everdrive into system. Power on.

Step #6: Use controller to navigate menu and select ROM.

Step #7: Enjoy!
