Localization Legend "Supper the Subtitler" has "joined the club" in being targeted for CD-pressings by bootleg master Tobias/PCEWorks! His projects like Private Eyedol, Galaxy Fräulein Yuna 1 & 2, etc. are now being sold on Chinese factory-pressed CDROMs...

It used to be $179.99, but it was RAISED up to $249.99! Why'd they do this? My mother was gonna get it for me, but now she can't, because the price was raised for whatever STUPID reason.

Dragon's Lair appreciation. Again.

Who is TZD, and why are they hailed as a deity?

Turbe Zone Direct - www.tzd.com

Are you familiar with Turbo Technologies? They produced the TurboDuo. Turbo Zone Direct is what Turbo Technologies evolved into. They sell new hardware and software for the TurboDuo/TurboGrafx. They don't have any actual consoles left anymore, but they do still sell TurboExpresses.

Kitsunexus

Wow, I could have sworn the Duo was another NEC/Hudson creation and TTI was just an American distributor. Thanks for this new info, I'm glad to hear they're still around!

TTi was formed when a group of NEC folks and a group of Hudson folks merged to create Turbo Technologies. So you are partly right, anyway.

Kitsunexus

Ah cool, too bad NEC won't ship them any new parts.

And MotoRoader, if you read their FAQ, they're running on limited inventory, there is a definite limit set on how much stock they have. When supply goes down and the demand is greater than or still equal to what it was, then it makes perfect business sense to raise the price to compensate for the decreasing sales.

Sorry you're in that position, I have some advice though. Let your parents borrow money. I let mine borrow $700 and instead of paying me back, I told them they could just buy me an XBOX 360. Score. :)

You have 1526 posts here and you don't know TZD?

You must have a shitload of dog porn posts hidden in the general chat sections or something.

Chill out, man. Kitsune has posted before that he isn't entirely familar with the Turbo and it's understandable if he isn't aware of TZD. The last part of your post wasn't necessary.

Ah...sooo,  8-[

Anyway, TZD raised the price because these are totally pimped-out units.

History:
*TZD sells Turbo Express units, they're like, pretty expensive.
*Years pass, TE units at TZD get a little cheaper, like $179+/-
*New and used TE units are increasingly found to have bad audio as the capacitors slowly die.
*Meanwhile, in the "real world" (ebay) the price of TE units continues to skyrocket.  In '05-06 unscrupulous sellers slowly discover TZD and start buying units and reselling them on ebay in the $300 range.
*TZD responds by instituting a 1 TE per customer policy.
*TZD issues several warnings that they only have a few units left.
*Turbo Express units are removed from the TZD catalog.
*TZD sends their remaining handful of bad-sound but still brand-new units to some unknown source (D-Lite? Santa's elves? NEC? Retrogames?) and all of the capacitors are magically replaced for "screaming sound and video"
*TE units are restocked for $249.  (They really, probably don't have many left at this point.)
I'm a cunt, always was. Topic Adjourned.

Turbo D

Ya, I would imagine the extra cost is  due to the new capacitor installation cost.

I did some of the early units but for the past year I was mostly unavailable and they had someone else doing it.  I know they're basically sold out.  And as it turns out no one is making more.  So $249 is kinda like a supply and demand thing, you know ;)
