12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Cause neo geo's look nice lol I dunno..they are pretty.

I have a love for the Genesis/Megadrive and NES/Famicom. I have a ton of games for both systems. The Genesis is probably my favorite. I have a Sega CD and several games for that.

Speaking of the Genny, who here is excited about Pier Solar, the new RPG coming out?

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, go here: http://www.piersolar.com/

Wow, that actually looks really good. I'm not big into the Genesis though.

Well they are a lot prettier than an MVS+Supergun, that's for sure. And a lot smaller.

I have an AES and quite like it.  Sure I could save money with an MVS, but I really don't care.  I keep my collection small
and only intend to buy the games I really want.  Sure I could get an MVS and buy all 10 KoF's for cheap, but I wouldn't
really play them all.  I'd rather take that money and buy just one AES game that I actually will devote real time too.

Granted I live in Japan and can get AES games a bit cheaper then most, but I highly support any new AES fan.  Congratulations
rainbow_bright, and welcome to the NeoGeo party.   :D

My AES collection:

KoF '02, Last Blade 2, Samurai Shodown 2

Last Resort, KoF '96, Matrimelee, AoF 3

IMG

Crossed Swords, Top Hunter, Metal Slug 3

Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Magical Drop 2

Blazing Star (took me two years to find this one!)

Cool collection SuperDeadite :)

Is that your bed on the left, on the floor? My old bed used to be really close to the floor and I loved it..my new bed is just a normal bed!

ah well! A bed is a bed.

SuperDeadite

@TRON.  Yeah I love Matrimelee, though the music is easily the best part of the game I must say.

Technically, its a futon.  I live in Japan and my bedroom is Japanese Tatami (Rice Mat) style.  So yes I sleep on the floor with a small matress in between.  Its quite comfortible I must say.

No, I'm from the US.  After college I was too lazy to get a real job so I went to Japan to teach conversational English.  Its an easy job with decent pay, though the hours aren't so good.

Really no long term plans yet for me. Especially now with the US economy as it is, I'm in no rush to return.

The neo geo came! Shit, it's so big..but so light. The arcade sticks are fantastic quality, but also very very light. I wonder why?

If anyone has the chance to get a neo at a good price, do so! It is so much fun! I can imagine it to be a great party console....

More later, sugar daddies...

Actually I probably have a smaller salary then most people here.  But, I don't have a wife nor kids.  I go everywhere by
train or bicycle.  So no car payments, no car insurance, and no gasoline.  My only real expenses are rent, food, and health
insurance.  Plus Japanese income taxes are much lower, in the US I was paying about 30%, here in Japan I only pay about
8%, meaning I keep a lot more of what I make.  I stick to a strict budget I've made for myself and then save up for things
I really want.

Its about making the best use of your money really.  I know people who make 3x what I do, but are always broke.

Cool. So are you stationed in that town you are at by the Navy or something? I can imagine everything Neo Geo and PC Engine related being much cheaper over there.

SuperDeadite

I live about 20 kilometers from Kyoto City.  My town is quite rural, my apartment building borders a rice field.
Nowhere near the Navy thankfully, their drunken antics tend to give us foreigners a bad name.

As for prices, PCE games are quite cheap, most of mine were about $2 each.  Though stuff like Sapphire is still
quite expensive.  Neo Geo games here are quite a bit cheaper then ebay, but still on the pricey side of things. It
took me two whole years to locate Blazing Star in a real store (I wouldn't dare buy that game online).  It cost me
a fortune, but its been a long time "dream game" for me, so I said "eh. what the hell?"

$2 each for PCE HuCards? Man you are one lucky son of a gun.

MurderDate

if you have the time / inclination you should consider opening up a little business!!  You could buy them for $2,  resell from $5-$15 depending on the title/condition and I bet you'd do quite well!  For sure you'd make some nice contacts.  We need an outlet for inexpensive PCE games now that the whole Dean thing is what it is. I know I for one would be intersted in buying maybe 10 games at once on my first visit.  Think about it ! If you're a serious PCE fan and it's worth the little bit of time that would go into it you can't loose !

I have considered this, but there are issues.  In order to get a large stack of HuCards, I need to go to Osaka.  It takes about 2 hours to get
to the good stores.  So I only go about once a month.  Therefore if "Customer A" wants a certain game, I can't guarentee that I'll be able
to actually get it.  Or I could just buy a large number of everything, but then I'll probably never sell it all and end up with a large stack of
games I don't want and actually lose money.
Stronger Than Your Average Deadite

MurderDate

OK..  I won't twist your arm..  but I think if you know what games are hits and misses I think you'll do fine !   There's always eBay as a last resort if you can't move the titles here (unlikely!) - but I understand the travel involved makes it cumbersome. ah well, I tried!   I'm gonna go look under a rock now for some cheap PCE games.

I've found the best places to pick up pc engines games (aside from Japan!!) is Japanese ebay shops. Some of them combine shipping and for 10 games its really cheap.

in addition to the NEC line of systems, i am a huge saturn and dreamcast player/collector/fan.  while i have almost every console ever, the only other console library that stands out as unique is my colecovision one.

Yeah, I also considered this.  You can even make it out a lot better by grabbing the games in bulk off of individuals using Yahoo auctions or whatnot, but in the end, not really worth the trouble.

Sure, you could make a few bucks a game per pop on ebay, but IMO, I don't think it's worth one's time unless you do it on a BIG scale.

That said, I'm stopping by Osaka in July.  Denden town time! :D  And, god I miss takoyaki. :D

Sparky

ps1 games have been getting alot more love from me as well these days, been able to but them cheap which helps $2.99 but there are a hell of alot of good titles out there, but a lot of crap to sift throw to get to the gold :D

Sorry for reviving an old thread. Were you saying that you had good luck with the Japan Ebay website or Japanese shops selling on the US Ebay site?

While I own a vast number of different systems, I'll list the ones that I have more than a few games for, or are particular favorites:
SNES/SFC
N64
GameCube
Genesis/Megadrive
Saturn
Dreamcast
Sega CD
Virtual Boy
3DO
PC-FX
TurboDuo/PCE Duo
Neo Geo AES
Famicom Disk System
Playstation/PS2
XBOX 360
Lots of Handhelds (All Gameboys, Game Gear, Wonderswan, PSP, N-Gage, DS, Neo Geo Pocket Color)

Some of the systems I own but don't play too much (Sega Master System, Jaguar, etc.)  I don't even keep in my house, I have them stored elsewhere
Arms installation is complete....good luck

Vanquish

I am on PC Engine, Saturn and N64.

I also bought a Famicom and Disk system this summer and I feel I littered my money :( They work very bad and with them I noticed the build quatily difference between NEC and Nintendo. (Nintendo fan here).

mobiusclimber

The systems I own are as follows:

Nintendo (NES): Playing Dragon Warrior II right now, but it's boring. Loved the first one, I need to get thru this to play the others.
Super Nintendo: Just screwing around with different games. Played some Psycho Dream last night, seems like a fun game, almost like an adventure/side-scrolling shooter combo.
N64: Just got a gold one. I'm not playing anything on it tho, and haven't the whole time I've owned one (from the grey one I had before to this one).
Gamecube: Not playing atm.
DS: Playing FF3, which I need to finish so I can work on DQIV. Was playing Tales of Phantasia but I got bored with it.
Sega Master System: Nothing right now. Was playing Ys. I hate Ys.
Sega CDX: Nothing at the moment. Bummed that Dragon Slayer: Legend of Heroes doesn't work with a Game Genie (it's region protected). Was playing Shining Force CD, but didn't check the console first and found out I had no room to save it. XD
Saturn: Nothing right now. Gave up on Albert Odyssey b/c it's pretty bland w/ some of the lamest WD jokes ever. Also, tried to play Princess Maker 2. I need to use a guide tho, as I don't know a lick of Japanese.
Dreamcast: Nothing right now. Was playing Black Matrix (?) or whatever it's called, but that was just to fool around with. I need to finish Shenmue II. XD
Game Gear: Last thing I played was the Oasis game and couldn't figure out how to save. It was fun tho. I just got a Master System converter so I can play Master system games on there. Won't I look cool w/ that + a battery pack on the bus? ROFL!
Playstation: Nothing. I can't seem to hunker down with any game right now. I was playing Tales of Destiny and will likely go back to playing it soon.
PS2: Persona 3: FES, which I play in bursts cuz it's kinda boring. SMT: Nocturne, which I need to get back to. Rule of Rose, which is fun despite it's many many flaws.
PSP: Jeanne D'arc, which pisses me off for how often I need to restart a battle. Also, playing stuff on the emulator. Just finished Radical Dreamers.
X-Box: Nothing. It's worse than useless.
X-Box 360: Eternal Sonata is all kinds of awesome. The battle engine is seriously frustrating tho.
TG-16: Nothing really. Was playing Splatterhouse, but I suck at it. Was playing Neutopia but I lost my codes. XD
PC-Engine CD: Played a bit of Rondo of Blood. I like Castlevania, but I don't play the games b/c I suck at those kinds of games. BTW, is it just me, or do you play as Ryu from Street Fighter in this Castlevania? ROFL.
Wonderswan Color: I have the FF2 box set edition and a bunch of games, but I've only played it a short time. It's more a collector's item, even tho I have a ton of games for it.
Dragon Quest Swordmaster: Ok so it's not a system, but I'm playing it and it's pretty fun, even tho it doesn't work half the time (the sword doesn't show up on screen or blinks on and off).

Arkhan Asylum

I collect mainly PC-E and Genesis (+CD) stuff.

I has an NES and SNES but I only buy like the RPGs, the Konami games, and the first party stuff...

mind you I have like, 30 systems and crap.   Bally Astrocade FTMFW
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Lawl, I knew I'd get branded as a heretic for that statement. I just consider them to be unnecessarily difficult, like the game program was trying to punish the player or something. The worst thing is that the battle engine doesn't reward skill. You can hit enemies in the back and still take damage. It all depends on your level and all sorts of other things mushed into an equation. I want to use skill to keep from getting hit, not automatically take damage every time I attack.

Nazi NecroPhile

Well, there is some skill in attacking - you usually won't take damage if you hit enemies off center.

It really depends on your level tho whether you'll take damage, even from hitting them off-center or even from behind. And the boss battles are super cheap. I think the first boss in Ys I has fire all over the floor or something and then moves around in it. Same with the boss in Ys IV with fire shooting out of the walls. You have to either be really lucky or really careful not to be standing in the wrong place, b/c wow, that's a one-hit kill! XD
