@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

So I'm about ready to spring for a TV. So far, I'm liking this one:

I managed to test out a few old videogames on it, and I didn't see any problems. All the functionality seemed to be accessible from the front panel (a pet peeve of mine - I hate it when TVs make you use the remote.)

Have any of you had experience with 'em? They used to be called Brillian.

I seen them @ the store and they seem to be a good quality product. I was thinking about grabbing this 32" one they had on sale but ended up blowing my cash on video games, lol.

I haven't had any first hand experience with them, but a buddy works in the repair biz and says that all of the cheaper brands have part supply problems.  Their reliability is on par with other manufacturers, but if you do have a problem you might wait months for parts.  Sometimes that works in your favor though, as the manufacturer will just replace the set with a new one (even outside the warranty period).

I've seen those around. They seem to be OK. Sony seems to be one of the best out there, but you also pay for it. Olivea seems to be good value for the money. I'm going to be shopping for a new TV soon as well, and I'll have to decide how much I'm willing to spend. My friend just got a Sony HDTV and it's fantastic. Though, he also had extra money lying around because he was able to sell his Leonard Cohen tickets on eBay for $850.

Seriously, I have never heard of what this thread is about.  Sounds gay.  If it is electronics, they are probably a cheap-ass Wal*Mart brand.  Pile them with Insignia, Realistic and all the others.

Few people have heard of Runco either, does that make them cheap-ass as well?

Quote from: guyjin on 05/21/2008, 12:42 PMWell, it's about $150 cheaper than a Zenith unit:

So can you really call it 'cheap ass'?

also, what's Runco?
Zenith isn't exactly a high end brand either; they're the cheaper line of LG, which is pretty moderately priced anyway.  I'd call 'em cheap, but not ass; like most of the cheaper brands, they have 90% of the picture quality at significant savings.  The only major drawback is that they may be unrepairable a few years down the road, so there's a bit of a gamble that they'll be a throw away item.

Runco makes some nice plasmas using Pioneer panels, only more expensive (not that Pioneer isn't one of the priciest manufacturers already).

Yeah, that Zenith is extremely cheap ass.  Zenith is pretty standard stuff or even falls into the low end.

Runco makes video projectors.

Target had these one sales only a few weeks ago for $599 and I almost pick it up.  It's a 32" Westinghouse 720p LCD with a built in DVD player.

I'm in the market for an LCD TV. I'm pretty much between Samsung and Sony. Samsung seems to be on par in quality as Sony, but considerably cheaper. I found this TV consumer guide to LCD TVs, and by the way, Olevia actually gets some kind words.
