10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

this video claims that Final Lap is 'basically pole position 3'.
So does that make Final Lap Twin, Pole Position 4?

Ceti Alpha

Well, it actually makes sense that Final Lap is related to Pole Position since it looks virtually identical. hehe Final Lap Twin is a game I'd like to have though. Pole Position "vs" mode.

pole position = pole position
final lap = final lap

They are both extraordinarily primitive games.

Pole Position was always too hard for me! I think I preferred Spy Hunter but I was so young I never got good at either of them.

And I never knew about that Pole Position cartoon!!

yeah, it was awesome. It was Transformers before there were Transformers.

Spyhunter isn't the easiest game in the world either. lol In fact, I've beaten Pole Position, but haven't even come close to beating Spy Hunter. I have Spy Hunter on the GBA (a double game cartridge with Super Sprint) and I can't even make it to where you change into a boat.

Come on, Final Lap Twin is a great game!  An RPG racing game!  Yes, it's primative.  Yes it's dated.  But the Racing RPG aspect is a unique twist!

Totally agreed. Besides, most racing games in FLT's days (in the Pole Position perspective) were pretty similar anyways.

I couldn't help it... I've been playing Spy Hunter on MAME the last couple days trying to get good at it! I found that you can actually ram those blue cars with the wheel blades, if you hit their front bumper with your rear bumper...

And as far as the arcade version goes, I don't think you can beat it... I haven't made it to any boat part yet but I did manage to set the high score today!

Yeah, I only remember the boat part from when I was a kid, so I'm not sure if my memory is just playing tricks on me.  :-k

I got to the boats today Ceti! I was really skeptical... I remember clearly playing that part on the NES version but I never saw it in the arcades... but it's there! I got over 60000 today!!

It's still my favorite Racer RPG.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

That kid's dad (in rpg mode) is awesome. I wish I got several hundred dollars everytime I walked through the door!

Totally! I love how he even gives you like 300 bucks for LOSING a race  . That's typically how I make my money in the beginning of the game!

I recall it being in English, but maybe that's just me.  Spanish is the new English!
