Complete Collection Set of Nintendo Wii Games

First time I've ever seen or heard of anyone going for a complete set of Nintendo Wii games.

Warning the link is a Metal Jesus Rocks video, I know he has a lot of haters on this forum. My feelings about him are neutral, I'm not a big fan nor do I dislike him, but thought this particular video was interesting.

Complete collections are a bit nutty no matter what, but it's so much worse on a system like the Wii.  1260 games total and at least 1000 of 'em are shit shovelware.

Wow. I thought my friend with the complete US PS2 collection was a moron. Complete Wii? Shit, I only have like 30 Wii games and I could stand to get rid of a few.

I like the Wii, but it might actually be the worse system to "complete" since the good/bad ratio is *super* terrible. Like 1/80 or somthing.

I like the Wii but it may have the worst good to bad game ratio of any console. I would've taken all that money spent on the plethora of shit sports and motion games and put it towards some good games on other consoles.

I saw this video elsewhere and it's interesting that he says in aggregate he paid less than $4 a game, which is doing pretty good considering the prices on some Wii titles anymore. 

As mentioned elsewhere, I found if funny that he talked about enjoying Rodea, but the copy shown in the video was sealed still

Well, there are only 470 Atari 2600 games compared to 1,280 Wii games. Having said that, there really aren't any Atari 2600 games I'd actually want to play now other than maybe Pitfall so yeah, maybe the 2600 does have the Wii beat.

A mere 18 in my opinion, though about 5-10 more aren't shovelware per se.

I'm with NecroPhile on this. I don't even want to click on the link because getting every Wii game is just profoundly frivolous.

I thought the same thing when I saw it.  I have that same Ikea shelving, but I use it for CDs (my PCE and MegaCD actually) instead of DVDs.

Yarr, I'd at least use a wider shelf for a better game to particle board ratio.  I've got a few 24" wide book cases, and their shelves don't bow under heavier jewel cases or paperbacks, so his wii trash would be fine.

The Wii library is 98% uber shovel ware shit, like Barbie games or Peppa Pig or some Spice Girls workout game, no adult can honestly say they actually like those games, it's just simply collecting for the purpose of collecting only, the ultimate in collectard!

I love the Wii because it's a spectacular emulation machine and it looks great on my CRT, but I wouldn't buy more than 30 of its own games...

I see what you're saying, but to the Wiitard's credit...he isn't wasting a lot of money as far as game collecting goes and he's not doing what all us assholes here do which is remove extremely good games from circulation and only play them for one six hour section every three years or so.

I'm not advocating for it or anything, but Wii collectardation is a relatively victimless crime. Most of the good games on Wii are first party and printed in quantities of a 200k or more so they'll always outnumber the collectards and be reletivey easy to get, hopefully.

It's totally fucking stupid though, I have to admit. I'd way rather get into stamp collecting or something like that.

If they only paid an average of $10 a game, that's still $12000 for a bunch of shovelware and a small percentage of decent games. Online purchasing would add a lot in shipping, even if it's only for a fraction of the massive number of games the Wii happens to have.

It might not be that much as far as set collecting goes, but set collectors tend to just box their crap away and forget about it as they go back to their day job, trying to slowly pay off their set debt that could have been a mortgage instead.

I looked at the thread on NA when this was announced and I think he said he was in it at about $4 a game for the most part.  Plus, I think after selling the rest of his retro collection and getting something near $150k for it in total, he was really just in it for the thrill of the hunt and figuring out what a "full set" of the Wii really was and documenting it along the way.
