No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

New album is all sorts of 70's awesomeness!

I've only heard Lucky, but hot damn, what a return to form!

Two videos from the new album
and

you can stream the album for free on Spotify and iTunes, I highly recommended. These guys layer their music with SO much passion. It's hard to stay sitting down when listening to it.

There's one song that I don't care for, and that's about it. Obviously just a personal taste thing.

The Giorgio track is up there on my top 3 of this album.  Definitely listen to it.

soop

Nice.  I'll have a listen during my workout tonight.  I don't have iTunes or Spotify.  But I do have Youtube!

The new album Random Access Memories is ok,  I only like a few tracks.   I purchased it from itunes a few days ago.   Some of the tracks the instruments to me have an FM / genesis sound to it.

Ones I like are:

Give life back to music
Giorgio by Moroder
Instant Crush
Loose yourself to dance
get lucky

Choice tracks. I've been on a Steve Wonder, Jamiroquai kick lately and their album pushes all the right buttons for me.

It's no EDM record that's for sure.

Stevie Wonder FTW.  Not that I ever stop listening to him, but I've not been able to get lately out of my head recently.  Or stop singing it.

Obfuscate

I was there the first time they played a Rave in the US in 1996: One of the best nights of my life: Here is video from that night:

I wouldn't classify myself as a fan as I'm only a casual listener of theirs. But I did pick up their album on vinyl the other day and love it. Giorgio is my favorite track.

Fellow vinyl collector. Good show, old chap.

Supposedly the MP3 download costs $2 more the physical CD.

No, but the INXS "make my video" sega CD might.

I was a casual Daft Punk fan from Da Funk until I saw them on the Alive 2007 tour (Berkeley CA) and...shit, that was amazing. The best concert I've ever seen or probably will see. After that I "got" them.

Evidently their popularity has grown, slowly but surely, over the last 20 years because they've supposedly sold 300k copies of RAM in the US alone so far. This is more than twice as many copies as their last album ever sold in the US. I think the HUGE hype blitz is probably helping. They are totally saturating the world with ads for this record. The Lotus F1 car will be running Daft Punk livery this weekend at Monaco. That ain't cheap.

The good thing is that they spend a great deal of the long time between records working on their sound and a huge chunk of the revenue on hiring the best partners to help them. RAM is MAGICALLY well produced. I think once they release a few remixes the total RAM experience might actually exceed Discovery, and that's saying something.

I ended up with two copies of the LP. I'll be donating one of them to the radio station I work at since we don't get a lot of promos from majors.

I'm a big vinyl junkie. Always been, but it's sorta gotten out of control lately. ;)

I'm pretty sure there is zero FM synthesis on this record, possibly on any DP record. DP's main party trick is the rack mount MIDIMoog, Juno, Emu, or other similar things which predate the grainy static-y bullshit of FM. FM synthesis was basically created to be a vastly cheaper alternative to analog synths, something that could be built into a simple $2 chip and soldered to an arcade board or sold in $35 Casio Portasounds.

I'm a fan of their soundtrack work for "Tron: Legacy" (one of my favorite movies) but I don't know them beyond that.

Ninja Spirit

Indo Silver Club....that song never fails to make to get up and dance

Picked up the cd a few days ago for $8. It's so good

Missing out BIG time! check out their stuff for sure. I recommend Youtube and/or spotify.

Discovery is ussually touted as one of their best albums, so there's that. I am more of a pick from the range of all their stuff, type of listener.
