@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I typically collect movies, and off and on Transformers G1 and G2 toys. The only G2 stuff I get is the reissues of G1 stuff. Some are kinda hard to seemcause of the sucky cam,and all. Like Bombshell, which is behind Kickback, and Skids, which is behind the mini HOC Starscream, and Silverbolt, located behind one of my Megatrons.

I have most of the weapons,I keep them in a zip baggie, along with other weapons to figures I dont have yet in my collection. As you can see I also have the one and only Go-bot in my collection that I ever liked, and intend to keep.

I have more on the way too, another Grapple, Soundwave, Shockwave, Hoist, Astrotrain,Red Alert,Sunstreaker,Repugness, and Brainstorm. I also collect certain old comics, like New Mutants,X-Force up till issue 115,and some others depending on who the artist was and who wrote the story.

My wife and I used to collect yugioh cards but we've recently been selling them at the pulguero (flea market). We also tried collecting wrestling cards but that got boring rather quickly. I mainly collect movies that I liked when I was younger, especially movies my wife hasn't seen (which is plenty, that rock she was living under when she was young was huge!). On the computer, I collect odd code fragments and porn.
Turbo Badass Rank: Janne (6 of 12 clears)
Conquered so far: Sinistron, Violent Soldier, Tatsujin, Super Raiden, Shape Shifter, Rayxanber II

Dark Fact

Mike, that's a pretty damn good collection of Transformers you got there.  Maybe you oughta get in contact with Matt Caracappa of X-ENTERTAINMENT and contribute your pics to a future transformers article he may do.

As for what I collect, it's usually anime nowadays. :P If I see a good series I like, I'll snatch it up, provided I got the right amount of cash. :P

I love reading books and magazines, but I don't really "collect" them, per se: I just hate to see stuff thrown in the trash, especially stuff I'll read, so I end up getting stuff from folks.

Usually, I prefer it if I can find something at the library. But they clear out a lot of books every year and have gotten rid of lots of stuff I'd want to read... like the Choose Your Own Adventure books from 1979-1986. Most of the libraries around here used to have nearly complete collections (when I was a wee kid), but now I'm lucky to find 4-6 titles at any particular branch.

I don't have much money these days, but I love music and have tons of records and CD's. I have tons of cassettes, too, but I have to "digitize" a lot of them soon since they won't last forever. My cassette player in my car broke a year ago... a death knell for the tapes, it seems.

I don't actively collect anything, but I still have 2 zillion GI Joe toys from when I was kid. It's in a trunk somewhere in my parent's attic. Hopefully, they didn't give the toys away (as parents do) because one of these days I want to play with them "one last time", probably with my daughter :).

I would,Ive been on that site before, hes got some damn funny reviews of old food and stuff, and the comercials for old toys are great. Im surprised he hasnt made fun of Video Power on there, that video game show that started off having Accliam game characters in a cartoon, then spawned into a gameshow type thing. The show was rigged. Id figured X-Entertainment woulda been all over that show making fun of it,because there is tons of content there to make fun of.

Also,I need to get a better cam,its been getting worse and worse as of late, and the pics from it used to be nice and sharp.

Yes,I still love the GI Joe stuff too from the 80ies. Those toys are top notch. I was collecting them off and on up untill 2003,then sold them all to make room for other things. I prob will again soemtime. The show is out of print ,and the rights to the different seasons have been tossed back and forth,so we may never see them all on DVD in real quality, esp by just one company.

Nice collection...

I had started collecting loads of Star Wars Lego, but it's pretty much all packed away and I've definately got a lot of catching up to do. (I gave up around the time the blockade runner got released.)

Apart from that, I used to do a lot of collecting/making of movie replica props:

(You can click on the thumbnails to see the other ones I own...  "741" is my id number. :P)

I wanted to expanded further then Star Wars...  Ack... Where does time go? :P

Thats totally a bad ass costume. My son loves that kinda stuff. He was blown away when we went to Boo at the Zoo and he was in his Vader costume and ran into a small troop of Storm Troopers. It was perfect and made his day.
Hes totally into anything to do with the Empire, and pretty much hates rebel scumm.

Astrotrain, most powerful of all the gods.
They go along the old toys just fine.

I remember Video Power. I also remember the infamous episode where the kid said "hell no" and the host got nervous and tried to correct him by saying "heck no".  Good times.

As for the cartoon, I remember it starred some basketball playing dude (was it Michael Jordan from Jordan vs Bird?), Kuros from Wizards & Warriors I believe, and Kwirk the tomato.  I must be the only person on this planet who still remembers that damn tomato's name and the fact that he had a gameboy game that nobody even remembers anymore.

It also had the cop from Narc, and the Bigfoot Truck, from the Bigfoot game, and the basketball guy was from Arch Rivals. The bag guys consisted of Mr. Big from Narc, and others from various Accliam games. Yea,most of the games they played were sports, and the sessions were rigged, typically with the player having a awesome team on Bases Loaded, and the computer team having the worse one. Also all the female contestants were hand picked for their UN-ability to play games,so that they would surely lose. The show,as it was,was filmed near or in the Bronx,I dont remember which, but thats why the kids always seemed like Jersy kids or kids from the under developed gettos, hoping to get Neogeos and Genesis systems so they could ditch their nes systems. Stupid fucking Johnny Arcade and his ripoff show. The only fond memories I have of it are of the fact that during comercial break TG-16 ads were aired.

Yes he does!!!!
I have the G2 version because Im not as fond of the green color, although I will prob still pick up the green set some day. There are chinese replicas out there, but I have avoided them all. Everything I got is takara or hasbro only so far. I have all the Combaticons,I hand picked the ones I got for their colors. I dont like all the G1 color schemes,so a picked a couple from the G2 reissue, and from a Ruination set. I still need to get the hands and feet for them to form Bruticus.

GUTS

I always thought Predaking was fucking awesome, but my friends didn't like him because of his halloween colors.  Personally he's my favorite gestalt, he's just so HUGE and badass looking.

PCEngineHell

Yea,he is. Im really torn about getting him. A complete original set is pretty expensive, esp if you get the set with diecast metal used in the bodies. There is plastic Predicons and they can be had  a tad cheaper, though not by much. There is also as of late a bootleg Prediking going around on ebay, and its supposed to be just as durable and detailed as the originals by Takara and Hasbro.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120043503978&rd=1&rd=1

Im prob going to get this instead, because I hear the quality is topnotch, and I like the color variation, then I can just pick up the originals peice by peice later on.

Kinda like Shockwave, which was actually a knockoff of the Toyco toy. The original was actually grey, and could either be bought under the Toyco's name of Astro Magnum or trough Radioshack as Galactic man. I nabbed the Radioshack version of ebay, because I perfer its colors more then the purple on the Hasbro release.

Dark Fact

Mike, do you also have the first edition G1 Megatron? I've heard he was pretty rare but fragile! If you tried to transform him, he'll break beyond repair!

Lol,yes,I had 3. I also have a few I need to fix eventually. I take my time.
If they break, they are very repairable. Hes actually built pretty tough, its silly little kids that broke them. There is a peg that the top barrel goes on,and above the hole and peg,a screw. people always managed to break that peg peice area because of mistreatment when turning the barrel during transformation.Typically you can find a peice taht isnt broken,or you can take a pc case type screw, and inside the barrel peice line up its hole with the hole that was created on the main part when it broke. Screw the pc case screw into both untill it feels tight, and it shead is just slightly above the inside of the barel peice. Its a perfect fix,and now less likely to break again ever, because of being fixed with metal instead of plastic.
The only other areas that typically get broken by mean kids are the arms, which if that is the case, just find another broken Megatron that has arms, and replace the parts.

I still have 1 that is near perfect, and off and on I will pick up more,to repair,or to resale to fund buying other Transformers. If you look at the pics on page 1 closely you can see my main Megatron along with a second.

Wow, since reading this thread I've been looking into picking up maybe three transformers that I used to cherish or really want as a kid.   Devastator is at the top of my list.  Michael - did you see this Devastator statue made by JD productions or Rabid Squirrel?  The model I pulled up looked sick.  Any advice on where to pick one up would be great.

I collect all sorts of crap. Mainly its media like games, laserdiscs (usually anime), DVDs, records (hip hop, comedy, childrens, house, new wave, 70s/80s rock), CDs (far too diverse to mention), and books (anime, manga, scifi, automobiles). I'm not really a huge hoarder of anything, and I'm not a completist of anything, but I have lots of crap either way.

I also collect Transformers, but I'm really really picky. I only buy what I absolutely love, and I only buy stuff complete. Some of my best stuff; US Metroplex in box, and JP Roadking in box. None of that Beast Wars type of garbage. All toys must leave the box and are rotated through display. I just like keeping the boxes for vintage stuff. Other toys; Gundam, Astroboy, Macross. I also do the whole plastic model thing.

I mean,if you can fix soemthing, restore it back to unbroken, there isnt a point in tossing it yet. You rock!  Well, I guess I should show off my Transformers collection, well, atleast some of it, as alot of my stuff is boxed up to save space.

Well, first, besides games, I collect Transformers & TF related stuff, including TPB's of all the new TF comics, but I don't buy every repaint of every figure anymore, I cut back thankfully.  My main collecting starts with Beast Wars, which I used to absolutly hate, until I saw the dragon Megatron, & then I got a little intersted in the show, & quite frankly, the 1st season is kind of boring, but the 2nd & 3rd seasons are incredible!  I also collect anime, underground hip hop(aka intelligent rap that sounds nothing like the garbage played on the radio), old school hip hop, some game soundtracks, usually Ys & Suikoden, & various other types of music, but, too many to name.

The top shelf has Vash the Stamped, Nicholas D Wolfwood, Rapheal, a bunch of Ys PVC's that I haven't set back up again since I moved, Supreme Cheetor, an SD plush of Vash(that you can't see), & a bunch of Suikoden PVC's(haven't set them up yet), the next shelf is all the Autobots from TF's Cybertron, the next shelf is all the Decepticons from TF's Cybertron
/p1010527yx0.th.jpg

First shelf is all Autobots from TF's Energon, 2nd shelf is the Decepticons
/p1010528ah2.th.jpg

This is most of my big guys, Primus(Cybertron itself!), Unicron, & King Starscream, with a smaller Unicron tank, & Unicron head, Scourge(from RID), Nemesis Prime from Armada, a Quintesson from Energon, & transforming General Grevious with a con' logo on him
/p1010529zl1.th.jpg

This shelf  is Cybertron Metroplex, Masterpiece(20th Anniversary) Optimus Prime, RID Optimus Primal, Universe Camo Ruination(aka Bruticus), Energon Omega Supreme, & Universe King Atlas
/p1010525wu2.th.jpg

The first shelf is all kinds of stuff, Mega Man, Final Fantasy, Samurai Showdown, etc, next shelf is all G1 Autobots, which are mostly US re-issue's, but a couple of originals, & some special micromaster gestalts.  The next shelf is Decepticons including Thundercracker who is hiding behind that green construction Micromaster gestalt(no, it's not Devastator, just a re-issue, made to look like him).
/p1010523lv1.th.jpg

This shelf, is all re-issue's(including the Japan only diecast re-issue of Predaking ), except for Blaster & Omega Supreme, the next shelf down, is the first half of my Alternator's.
/p1010524ky9.th.jpg

These 2 shelves are all of my Alternator's alltogether
/p1010543aq9.th.jpg

At the top are various He-man figures from the last line, then the next shelf is random Autobots, etc. from various series(Beast Wars 2nd, Armada Dinobots, Universe), & the next shelf is Decepticons(mostly Universe, & some Beast Wars 2nd, & a couple from some wierd Takara line, can't remember the name).
/p1010522as1.th.jpg

Here are my 10th Anniversary Beast Wars, Titaniums(diecast), & Classics.
The large Titaniums (which are transformable!)are from left to right War Within Optimus Prime(War Within=before they landed on earth), Optimal Optimus, War Within Jetfire, War Within Thundercracker, GI Joe vs. Transformers Megatron, & G1 Scourge.  The little guys (non transformable)are left to right, the Ark(ship the Autobots flew in to earth), Bumblebee, Grimlock, Unicron, Starscream, & Predaking
/p1010521cz9.th.jpg

This is the whole Japanese only line of Beast Wars Neo, which I don't have set up yet with weapons.  Includes one of my favorite Primes ever(see top left)
/p1010536au1.th.jpg

Here's some boxed stuff laying around in my room, namely, the RID build team repainted to looks like Devastator, & a beautiful repaint of Depthcharge
/p1010537ef1.th.jpg

Here is one of my closet doors, top has Predaking attacking both Superion & Defensor, middle has Soundwave & Blaster mixing it up at a club, bottom has the Dinobots vs. Devastator
/p1010531vy7.th.jpg

This poster is all War Within characters, mainly Prime, Starscream, Megs, Grimlock, Prowl & then Bumblebee in vehicle mode
/p1010532ln5.th.jpg

This is a limited US run of an original Japanese G1 poster from the 80's
/p1010534dz9.th.jpg

And here is Devastator beating up Superion, with the seekers(Starscream & company) watching on
/p1010535zs5.th.jpg

here is my favorite poster, of Soundwave with "most" of his cassettes(missing only 2)
/p1010538rm0.th.jpg

Here is my poster of Starscream holding Megs in gun form
/p1010541pg4.th.jpg

This is a choose your own adventure type book I got when I was a kid, I have a couple more books, can't remember where they are, but one has G1 Prime with a smiling mouth
/p1010542cl2.th.jpg

This is the 2 pack of Prime & Megs from Classics(different from the seperate ones) fighting over my light up Autobot Matrix of Leadership with the key to Vector Sigma, which lights it up(mine is #437 out of 1000 made)

Here are all  my TF dvd's, the entire run of G1(which is going to be released again next year by Paramount, because of the new movie), Beast Wars(all 3 seasons, great series that connects directly to G1 as it is 300 years in the future), Beast Machines(both seasons, an often hated upon sequal to Beast Wars), & Armada complete series(which sucks for most of the 50 some odd episodes)
/p1010539eb6.th.jpg

And, just for the heck of it, here are all my dvd's, mostly consists of anime & old 80's cartoons(although, I moved out my He-man/She-ra collection, due to it just taking up too much room), lot's of kung fu, etc.
/p1010540sx2.th.jpg

And last of all, here is my groomsmens cake from our wedding, the 2 pvc figures on there are Prime & Arcee(since they never made an Elita-1 figure :x)

Since my dvd picture isn't very legible, here's what I have, most of my anime, is FX brand, partially to save money, mostly to save room, but also, because I feel most the time, anime is WAY overpriced, I know it costs them some to liscense the stuff, as opposed to US animation, but, still :P:

Very nice collection ParanoiaDragon!!! I am mostly just into the G1 stuff. The only G2 I like is the repaints of G1. I just couldnt get into the Beast stuff, even the Japanese beast stuff.

Thought Id add this too.
You notice the complete lack of Dinobots in my collection. This is because I felt they were just the unwanted brothers of the lot. They were rejected and sent to "Dinobot" Island, because no one wanted them. Very similar to the Island of Unwanted Toys.
Inorder to market them better, esp Grimlock, they made him more dumbed down, less agressive, and adoribly stupid, like a retarded little brother.

"Me Grinlock luvs Kups war stories!" "Me Grimlock will babysit Spikes kid." "Me Grimlock will get smart and build Computron." .The Dinobots were always used to fight Devastator and anyone else the Autobots were typically afraid of. If they would have left the Dinobots as they first were, with Grimlock being a agressive warrior leader who didn't care to listen to anyone, they would have been far better off. In the end, they just became workhorse slaves.

Its almost too bad they escaped Shockwaves slave pit. If they would have left them there, they wouldn't have had to experience the humiliation they had to endure in later eps.

ParanoiaDragon

I do agree with you, they really dumbed them down.  Not that they were ever smart, but, they were badass before season 3, then they became comedy relief.  And there's nothing wrong with comedy relief in itself, but, changing them to that, was pretty wack.

Michael,
Who is the dude in the bottom left corner of the first pic(looks like soundwave?), and which version?  Also who is the guy in front of the smaller starscream in pic 1 (same colors as devastator)?  Thanks.  BTW, just picked up an original Devastator!!
What a horrible night to have a curse...

PCEngineHell

The black one in the corner is a reissue e-hobbie Perceptor. ive since replaced him with the normal red old version because the red one is more sturdy then the re-issue.

Im not sure what the other one is your refering to,maybe Bombshell the Insecticon??? if you want, take the pic and use paintshop or soemthing to point a arrow at it and post it here so Ill know who your asking about.
Ill be posting more pics very soon too!

cavein2000

ya - that's who it is, perceptor looks awesome in black though.  I think the second one is correct - he's got a fat decepticon logo on his chest and is right beneath a starscream.
What a horrible night to have a curse...

Well, I'm soon getting the US re-issue of Soundwave.  Well, in a way, it's actually Soundblaster.  Here's a little TF history lesson.  In the Japanese G1 series, Soundwave(I believe his name remained the same) & Blaster(Broadcast) fought eachother to the death.  Then, both were rebuilt.  Soundwave became Soundblaster, painted black & can hold 2 cassetes, Blaster(Broadcast) became Twincast, repainted light blue IIRC, & could also hold 2 tapes.  Well, in Japan, they lost the Soundwave mold, but still had the Soundblaster mold.  So, they first, made a remold of Soundblaster, so he could only hold one cassete, & painted him blue, so he's a Soundwave re-issue.  Then they eventually released a Soundblaster re-issue as well.  Well, Hasbro, is going inbetween, & releasing Soundblaster(holds 2 tapes) in Soundwaves colors, & comes with Lazerbeak & Ravage.  I actually already have the Takara re-issue of Soundwave, but, I want Hasbro's, mainly cuz it comes with Ravage who I don't have.

Im not sure where all that came from, but the mold wasnt lost. Tarkara used it to do a japanese Soundwave re-issue with the original mold, not Soundblasters.
As for the Toys R US re-issue,

Ill stay reserved untill I see one taken out of the packaging, but till then Im going to assume they are not using a Soundblaster mold from the pics Im seeing. Looks like my original as far as I can tell. They wouldnt have to do much to alter the mold to hold 2 tapes.

As for them killing each other, yea, that eps of Headmasters was silly, filled with typical drama, with Blasters tapes feeling all sad,and wanting him rebuilt and Spikes kid being the go-between for expressing their feelings. I kinda just fast fowarded trough that stuff, because it had a tad too much melodrama for me.
BTW I already have Laserbeak,Ravage and Buzzsaw:P

ParanoiaDragon

That pic you're looking at, is the pop-up that comes up when you open the box.

Here's a pic of him, where you can tell it's Soundblaster
http://tformers.com/ig.php?mode=view&album=6748&pic=Picture+636.jpg&dispsize=800&start=0

Note now that it is thicker, & the buttons are different from the original G1 Soundwave.  I have a beat up old Soundwave, & all his button, are seperate from eachother, & I also have the re-issue Soundwave from Japan, but his buttons, are just one big button like on Soundblaster.  And I've been hearing ever since Soundwave surfaced from Japan, that he clearly came from Soundblaster's mold, & possibly even Aron Archer confirmed this, I'm not sure.  I just read the news, I don't get to go to things like Botcon unfortunatly :?

I used to have Lazerbeak, Ravage, Frenzy, Rumble, Overkill, & Slugfest, as well as Blaster's Eject, Rewind, Steeljaw, & Ramhorn.  But, all of them are loooooong gone like alot of my old G1's.  I have a few left, my original Bombshell is in amazing condition, & my Reflector is in ok condition, but he's missing a pin to the arm of the middle guy, so I never display them.  I have Metroplex & Scorponok, all the Technobots.  I really should make a list of all my G1 figures, even though they're not all in great condition.

Well,I noticed small things like the buttons, door, and size of the holding area changed, but I mean overall he still looks the same, just slight alterations to the original Microman Cassette Man design and mold on the front. Arms and legs still look the same, seems the head does too.

When I picture Soundblaster mold,I picture this tall stupid looking goof:

/blaster1.jpg

/blaster2.jpg

This is completely different then the Cassette Man mold.

Pretty much each Soundwave, including the newer evil Soundblaster type are still using the Cassette Man mold, only slightly changed each time for a new marketing maneuver of the toy. The changes do not justify the theory of Takara losing the mold. EVEN if they lost it,which they didnt, they could have easily cast new molding plates,as its done all the time.

/Soundwavecompair.jpg

All this does is remind me of Ruination and Target Masters toys.
