The Cat "game" subtitle is "The World Cat Catalog"  Its probably just a cat breeder data cd.  Probably no actual games on that disc.

I ignored this, along with Koyaanisqatsi and the others on Laserdisc. After Koyaanisqatsi made it to DVD I checked it out at the library to make sure I felt I made the right decision (as a local Vintage Stock had it in on LD for 10 bucks incase I wanted to go grab it real fast), and still feel I did, as I fell asleep after about 20 mins of it. Im just not into the time lapse worldly scenery stuff. Its def a great way to show off higher res technology Im sure, as people raved about them on LD in their time, but its just not for me as there are other far more visually impressive films out there that keep my attention span going.

I know the LD of Koyaanisqatsi retains the original 1.33:1 aspect ratio too. People often mistaken it for Pan and Scan, but it infact was originally filmed in open 35mm and viewed that way. The newer releases are being soft matted to 1.85:1, which is annoying for some people since there was nothing visually going on with that film that needed to be hidden away they say, so they revert back to the LD copy as the most important release.

I would ignore this on LaserDisc as well (in fact, I did).  It really needs a higher resolution format for both video and audio and Blu-ray delivers.  It definitely isn't for everyone and surely isn't the disc to pop in when you're in the mood for high quality Hollywood moviemaking like Teen Wolf.  But it is visually enthralling.  Some people need a dramatic narrative (re: story or actual purpose) to retain interest.  This is National Geographic on a Disc.

Also, most of them have a informing narration that helps keep me awake.

I know it's not exactly a video game purchase, but I bought a TV from a guy on Craigslist today on my lunch break. The reason I mention it is because my recent Duo-R w/RGB mod purchase is what inspired me to get a new TV in the first place. I'm almost ashamed to post the specs of my old TV:

OLD
19 inch
off brand "Orion"
only one plug on the back: coaxial

Yes, I've been plugging all my consoles into an RF-to-composite/S-Video converter from Radio Shack for years now.

NEW
29 inch
Hitachi
Component, S-Video, coaxial, two AV ins, one AV out, etc. etc.

The guy I bought it from was moving back to Seattle and wanted to get it off his hands, so he sold it to me for $99. I told him he didn't have to give me a dollar back when I handed him five twenties.  :)

guyjin

Nice! I hope you appreciate the improvement.

I do, thanks! Here it is all hooked up (still waiting on my PSX SCART-to-component cables, so it's only composite right now, but it sounds and looks great):

I bought a set of gamebits that arrived today. My "Simons Quest" cartridge no longer has a birds nest inside it and it plays pretty well...

blueraven

Also these two just arrived.

Rastan is a bit slower and harder than the Sega version but there are more continues. It was the first game I bought for the Genesis back when.

Yee-Hah. Altered Beast glitches on my Duo. I'm glad I only paid $10 for this.

Turbo D

You need the system card 1.0 for that altered beast. Then it will be less glitchy.  :)

shadow of the beast 2 just arrived, heard it's good...for the genesis though ... :-"  , i beat the first one for the duo (jp) , it played a lil slow/glitchy... i tried the arcade card while playing it but didn't really help. also found castlevania bloodlines , earthworm jim and alienstorm for it .
