Aw man. I hope they aren't down for good. That sucks.

I play with a RetroPie for emulating consoles (among other things) and modified an original Xbox and put CoinOPS 8 Gold on it for arcade emulation. Mame emulation on the RetroPie can be a bit fiddly if you want to build it yourself (there are a few images out there that come pre-configured, but where's the fun in that), but I like CoinOPS on the Xbox because I can plug my X-Arcade Dual Stick into it and it just works. X-Arcade can be configured on the RetroPie as well, but it's a bit fiddly.

Quote from: guest on 03/07/2017, 09:05 PMMy son and I have been playing through Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast lately. We're roughly 25 hours in and he's loving it! Such a fun game to play through again.
How are the random battles? I hear they are killer.
They are pretty frequent, but one of the characters has a special attack that can be used every fight that almost always hits and destroys all enemies on the first round so they are usually quick.

We made it to the second disc a couple of days ago. It looks like we'll finish it up this weekend. It's too bad this game never got a sequel.

Quote from: esteban on 03/08/2017, 09:52 AMI do love me some PAC LAND, though (it works nicely on a small screen).

:)
I think the Pac Land High Score thread could use a bit 'o lovin'! It's been awhile since I last dug into that one so maybe it's about time.

It's my preferred method of playing the game. It's just about the perfect Express Experience. :D

Quote from: Sarumaru on 03/01/2017, 12:43 PMI made a Bonk shirt and threw it up on a neatoshop. So far, they seem to have the best print to garment service I've seen yet.  http://www.neatoshop.com/product/PREHISTORIC-THROWDOWN
That shirt is sweet! Will you be selling them at MGC?

My pins for this year's TurboFest gathering have arrived and they look pretty sweet!

Man, I thought I'd posted a higher score here, but I guess not. I had a pretty good run today during lunch, though!

I'm still slowly plugging away. I've lost 40 lbs since October, but then I did something to my hip and this past week I've had to hobble everywhere. It's starting to feel better now and I'm hoping to get back into my routine.

Quote from: JoshTurboTrollX-16 on 02/16/2017, 09:29 AMI should start a tally of what we'll all be bringing.  Just reply below (AGAIN) if you're 80%+ sure on bringing stuff-

So far we have (Will keep updating)
1. Turbografx-16 LA Edition - 20" CRT (Joshua)
2. PC Engine (+CD) - 20" CRT (Joshua)
3. PC-FX = 20" CRT (S-Video) (Joshua)
4. Turbo Duo - 20" CRT (Joshua)
5. Supergrafx (From GEO) - 20" CRT (Joshua)
6. 25" CRT & PCE Duo (svideo)  (Nully)
7. 20" CRT & TG16 / Turbo Booster+ (Nully)
8. 20" CRT & PCE Shuttle + TED (Majors)

I know a few others planned on bringing a system or two more, so if any of you want to, please feel free to bring!  I can always bring one or two less systems. (Or use my OBEY systems in the MGC Museum proper)  =)
As long as Nulltard's car has room for the 3 of us HuMANS and his gear, I'll plan on bringing up a 20" WEGA and Turbo w/ CD attachment  or Briefcase setup. Of course I'll also have my Express as well. And I'll make sure to *ahem* borrow *ahem* Joshua's controllers and taps. ;)

Awesome!

Yeah, I love playing this on the Express. For all but one or two dungeons you can hug the left or right wall and eventually get through the whole thing. My 8 yr old enjoyed playing a level or two with me in co-op mode.

Fantastic!

I'm getting so excited for this! I created a new set of buttons to give out to obeyers and they should arrive later this week! I'd be happy to bring up a 20" Sony WEGA TV and a console, along with my Express. Assuming we can fit everything in the car.

I really like what you've done with the soundtrack, fragmare. I've been listening to it off and on for a bit now while I work.

The correct response is "ok".

You ought to catch up on your Kung Pow, slacker.

P.S. - I'll be there! I missed last year and nearly didn't survive. There's no turning back now!

Quote from: guest on 01/03/2017, 04:40 PMSorry to hear about your back problems!

I fell off the wagon for Thanksgiving and stayed off until Jan 1st.  In that time I put back on 25 lbs. Boggles the mind! I thought the daily pint of liquor would offset the 5 daily drive-thru upsized combo meals, but it seems they work in tandem.
I like to booze it up too! It took a looooooong time to master but now I can slam booze all day and not eat shit food at 1am. I remember walking downtown getting totally shit faced (I usually started the walk hammered) then finish off my night of 18+ beers with 4000 calories of the greasiest crap I could get my hands on. What really opened my eyes one day was I bought 3 burritos at 7-11 one night, when i woke the next morning I looked at the wrapper and EACH ONE WAS LIKE 1000 cals!!! So just that day alone I consumed 2 to 3 days worth of calories! Now I stay away from beer and no longer do the late night binge eating so it probably cut those calories to half!
That was my weakness as well. I wouldn't eat much during the day, but after a few+ beers I'd be eating anything I could find in the kitchen. Now I've gotten into the habit of not drinking regularly and being more conscious of what I eat throughout the day. I keep track with an app on my phone called Lose It! and it's made a huge difference. It's easy to enter stuff because it has a barcode scanner built in and there's a huge searchable database.

My lunchtime walks are getting harder and harder to do though. Today it was 7 degrees out when I went for my walk. Still managed almost 3 miles though!

Aw, yeah!

For the longest time, my favorite way to play GB games was via the Gamecube's adapter. It get even better when I purchased decent s-video cables. But then I got a Retron 5 and, holy moly do GBA games (and the rest of the GB family) look amazing. And using a SNES controller instead of GC controller is so much more comfortable.

The DS is great for GBA games because they are so much cheaper than a 101 screen SP. I also purchased an SP back when they first came out, and it still runs like a champ and I still use it quite a bit.

I introduced my 8yr old son to the wonderful world of Civilization over the weekend and we've both been glued to the computer ever since.

We're playing Civ IV and now I really want to check out the newer editions. But this one is so good!

My boy's about to finish his first game (he had about 35 turns remaining when I left this morning). He's been putting a couple of hours a day into it for the past 5 days, and he's in first place by a ton. Proud parent. :D

I'll have to give this a shot when I get home tonight. Cool find, Null!

While pirating games for profit is pretty crummy, especially when it directly affects this community, those Star Parodier coins are pretty slick. I'm not going to try to get one from the guy, but if I saw one of those at a video game shop or something, I'd totally geek out over it.

Dragon Force on the Saturn. I've got other games for the Saturn, but really the only reason I hang on to that console is Dragon Force. I've never played anything else quite like it.

General Gaming / Re: DS/3DS Thread
11/15/2016, 03:46 PM
I think I might have posted this already in another thread here, but I recently got an Ace3DS Plus flashcart for my DS Lite and was pleasantly surprised to find it came with a PC Engine emulator. The sound isn't 100% correct (it sounds like it's missing some channels or something) but it's capable of playing disc images, and redbook audio sounds fine. Gameplay and graphics are spot on. What a trip!

I recently found out about the Lone Wolf Saga on Android devices. It sounds like it's sort of "Choose your own adventure" style for adults. I've installed it abut haven't played around with it yet. Looking at the reviews, I'm betting I'll dig it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio&hl=en

Also, thanks to Steam, I've been enjoying the old point-and-click style adventure game "The Dig." It's pretty impressive compatred the the Kin's Quest games I grew up playing.
